Nehemiah 3

1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests and they built the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and set its doors; they consecrated it as far as the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Tower of Hananel.	1 Entonces se levantó Eliasib, el Sumo Sacerdote, con sus hermanos, los sacerdotes, y reconstruyeron la puerta de las Ovejas: la consagraron, y colocaron sus hojas; luego continuaron hasta la torre de los Cien y hasta la torre de Jananel, y consagraron la muralla.
2 And next to him the men of Jericho built. And next to them Zaccur the son of Imri built.	2 Junto a ellos trabajaron los hombres de Jericó, y a continuación Sacur, hijo de Imrí.
3 And the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate; they laid its beams and set its doors, its bolts, and its bars.	3 Los hijos de Jasená construyeron la puerta de los pescados: hicieron el armazón y colocaron las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras.
4 And next to them Meremoth the son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz repaired. And next to them Meshullam the son of Berechiah, son of Meshezabel repaired. 8 Next to them Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, goldsmiths, repaired. Next to him Hananiah, one of the perfumers, repaired; and they restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall.	8 Junto a él trabajó Uziel, hijo de Harhaiá, del gremio de los orfebres, y a continuación Jananías, del gremio de los perfumistas: ambos dejaron terminada la muralla de Jerusalén hasta el muro Ancho.
9 Next to them Rephaiah the son of Hur, ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, repaired.	9 Junto a ellos trabajó Refaías, hijo de Jur, jefe de una mitad del distrito de Jerusalén.

15 And Shallum the son of Colhozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it and covered it and set its doors, its bolts, and its bars; and he built the wall of the Pool of Shelah of the king's garden, as far as the stairs that go down from the City of David.	15 La puerta de la Fuente la restauró Salúm, hijo de Col Jozé, jefe del distrito de Mispá: él la reconstruyó, la recubrió y colocó las hojas, los cerrojos y las barras; también rehizo el muro del estanque del canal, junto al jardín del rey, hasta las escaleras que bajan de la Ciudad de David.
16 After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district of Beth-zur, repaired to a point opposite the sepulchres of David, to the artificial pool, and to the house of the mighty men.	16 Después de él trabajó Nehemías, hijo de Azbuc, jefe de la mitad del distrito de Betsur; él reparó hasta el lugar que está enfrente de las tumbas de David, hasta el estanque artificial y hasta la Casa de los Valientes.
17 After him the Levites repaired: Rehum the son of Bani; next to him Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, repaired for his district.	17 Después de él trabajaron los levitas, entre ellos Rejúm, hijo de Baní; junto a él, Jasabías, jefe de la mitad del distrito de Queilá, trabajó en su propio distrito.

21 After him Meremoth the son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz repaired another section from the door of the house of Eliashib to the end of the house of Eliashib.	21 Después de él trabajó Meremot, hijo de Urías, hijo de Hacós: él reparó otro sector, desde la puerta de la casa de Eliasib hasta el extremo de la misma.
22 After him the priests, the men of the Plain, repaired.	22 Después de él trabajaron los sacerdotes venidos de los alrededores.
23 After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house. After them Azariah the son of Ma-aseiah, son of Ananiah repaired beside his own house.	23 A continuación trabajaron Benjamín y Jasub, frente a sus propias casas. 25 and to the corner. Palal the son of Uzai repaired opposite the Angle and the tower projecting from the upper house of the king at the court of the guard. 27 After him the Tekoites repaired another section opposite the great projecting tower as far as the wall of Ophel.	27 Después de él trabajaron los hombres de Técoa, en otro sector, desde enfrente de la torre que sobresale hasta el muro de Ofel.
28 Above the Horse Gate the priests repaired, each one opposite his own house.	28 Junto a la puerta de los Caballos trabajaron los sacerdotes, cada uno enfrente de su casa.
29 After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired opposite his own house. After him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the East Gate, repaired.	29 Después de ellos trabajó Sadoc, hijo de Imer, enfrente de su casa, y a continuación Semaías, hijo de Secanías, guardián de la puerta Oriental.
30 After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section. 32 And between the upper chamber of the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and the merchants repaired.	32 Y entre la habitación alta del Angulo y la puerta de las Ovejas, trabajaron los orfebres y los comerciantes.
	33 Cuando Sambalat se enteró de que nosotros estábamos restaurando las murallas, se enfureció y manifestó una gran irritación. Se burló de los judíos,
	34 y dijo delante de sus hermanos y de las tropas de Samaría: «¿Qué pretenden hacer esos judíos incapaces? ¿Piensan acaso reconstruir, ofrecer sacrificios, terminar en un día? ¿Harán revivir esas piedras extraídas de un montón de escombros y todas calcinadas?».
	35 Y Tobías, el amonita, que estaba a su lado, añadió: «¡Déjalos que construyan! ¡Bastará que suba un zorro para hacer que se desmoronen sus murallas de piedra!»
	36 ¡Escucha, Dios nuestro, cómo somos despreciados! Que sus ultrajes recaigan sobre sus cabezas, y entrégalos al desprecio en una tierra de cautiverio.
	37 No encubras su iniquidad y que su pecado no se borre de tu presencia, porque han agraviado a los constructores.
	38 A pesar de todo, trabajamos en la reconstrucción de la muralla, que fue enteramente restaurada hasta media altura. El pueblo, en efecto, se había tomado la obra muy a pecho.
