1 At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the house of the LORD and his own house,	1 - Salomone, vent'anni dopo che ebbe santificata la casa del Signore e il suo palazzo,
2 Solomon rebuilt the cities which Huram had given to him, and settled the people of Israel in them.	2 riedificò le città che Iram gli aveva dato, e vi fece abitare i figli di Israele.
3 And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and took it.	3 Se ne andò pure in Emat Suba e se ne impadronì.
4 He built Tadmor in the wilderness and all the store-cities which he built in Hamath.	4 Edificò parimenti Palmira nel deserto, e nel territorio di Emat altre città fortificate.
5 He also built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars,	5 Costruì anche Betoron superiore e Betoron inferiore, città munite di mura, di porte, di sbarre e di serrature;
6 and Baalath, and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and all the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and whatever Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.	6 parimenti Balaat e tutte le città fortificate che Salomone possedette, quelle dei cocchi e quelle della cavalleria. Salomone potè disporre in tutto ciò che volle e fabbricò in Gerusalemme e nel Libano e in tutta la terra soggetta al suo potere.
7 All the people who were left of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel,	7 Soggiogò e si fece tributario fino ad ora tutto il popolo che era rimasto degli Etei, degli Amorrei, dei Ferezei, degli Evei e dei Jebusei, che non appartenevano alla stirpe d'Israele,
8 from their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the people of Israel had not destroyed--these Solomon made a forced levy and so they are to this day.	8 bensì ai discendenti e ai posteri di coloro che non erano stati uccisi dai figli d'Israele.
9 But of the people of Israel Solomon made no slaves for his work; they were soldiers, and his officers, the commanders of his chariots, and his horsemen.	9 Ma non permise che i figli di Israele fossero impiegati nei lavori del re, poichè essi erano uomini di guerra, primi capitani, comandanti delle sue quadrighe e della sua cavalleria.
10 And these were the chief officers of King Solomon, two hundred and fifty, who exercised authority over the people.	10 Tutti poi i capi dell'esercito del re Salomone furono duecentocinquanta e questi attendevano ad ammaestrare il popolo.
11 Solomon brought Pharaoh's daughter up from the city of David to the house which he had built for her, for he said, "My wife shall not live in the house of David king of Israel, for the places to which the ark of the LORD has come are holy."	11 Fece salire poi la figlia di Faraone dalla città di Davide al palazzo, che le aveva edificato. Il re disse infatti: «La mia consorte non abiterà nella casa di Davide, re d'Israele, poichè questa fu santificata, quando in essa entrò l'arca del Signore».
12 Then Solomon offered up burnt offerings to the LORD upon the altar of the LORD which he had built before the vestibule,	12 Allora Salomone offrì olocausti al Signore sull'altare del Signore costruito dinanzi al portico,
13 as the duty of each day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses for the sabbaths, the new moons, and the three annual feasts--the feast of unleavened bread, the feast of weeks, and the feast of tabernacles.	13 affinchè secondo il comando di Mosè, vi venissero offerti sacrifici ogni giorno, nei sabati, nelle calende, e nei giorni di festa, tre volte all'anno, cioè nella festa degli azzimi, nella festa delle Settimane e nella festa dei Tabernacoli.
14 According to the ordinance of David his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, and the Levites for their offices of praise and ministry before the priests as the duty of each day required, and the gatekeepers in their divisions for the several gates; for so David the man of God had commanded.	14 Stabilì ancora, secondo le disposizioni di Davide suo padre, gli uffici dei sacerdoti, nei loro ministeri: assegnò ai leviti i loro turni per lodare e servire al cospetto dei sacerdoti, secondo il rito di ogni giorno, e costituì i portieri assegnati a ciascuna porta; poichè così aveva già ordinato Davide, uomo di Dio.
15 And they did not turn aside from what the king had commanded the priests and Levites concerning any matter and concerning the treasuries.	15 E i sacerdoti e i leviti non trasgredirono alcuno dei comandi del re, in tutto ciò che riguardava la custodia dei tesori.
16 Thus was accomplished all the work of Solomon from the day the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was completed.	16 Salomone ebbe pronto tutto il denaro occorrente per le spese, dal giorno in cui pose le fondamenta della casa del Signore, fino al giorno in cui l'ebbe compiuta.
17 Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and Eloth on the shore of the sea, in the land of Edom.	17 Salomone si portò quindi in Asiongaber e in Ailat, sulle rive del mar Rosso, nel territorio di Edom.
18 And Huram sent him by his servants ships and servants familiar with the sea, and they went to Ophir together with the servants of Solomon, and fetched from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold and brought it to King Solomon.	18 Iram aveva mandato a lui, per mezzo dei suoi servi, navi e naviganti pratici del mare, i quali si portarono insieme coi servi di Salomone in Ofir a prendervi quattrocentocinquanta talenti d'oro, che portarono al re Salomone.
