1 King Solomon was king over all Israel,	1 Or le roi Salomon régnait sur tout Israël.
2 and these were his high officials: Azariah the son of Zadok was the priest;	2 Et voici quels étaient ses princes : Azarias, fils du (grand) prêtre Sadoc,
3 Elihoreph and Ahijah the sons of Shisha were secretaries; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;	3 Elihoreph et Ahia, fils de Sisa, étaient secrétaires (scribes). Josaphat, fils d'Ahilud, était chancelier (tenait les registres).
4 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was in command of the army; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;	4 Banaïas, fils de Joïada, était général de l'armée. Sadoc et Abiathar étaient (grands) prêtres.
5 Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan was priest and king's friend;	5 Azarias, fils de Nathan, avait l'intendance sur ceux qui étaient toujours auprès du roi. Zabud, prêtre, fils de Nathan, était ami du roi.
6 Ahishar was in charge of the palace; and Adoniram the son of Abda was in charge of the forced labor.	6 Ahisar était grand maître de la maison, et Adoniram, fils d'Abda, était surintendant des tributs.
7 Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household; each man had to make provision for one month in the year.	7 Salomon avait établi sur tout Israël douze préfets, qui avaient soin d'entretenir la table du roi et de sa maison ; chacun fournissait pendant un mois de l'année tout ce qui était nécessaire à la maison du roi.
8 These were their names: Ben-hur, in the hill country of Ephraim;	8 Voici leurs noms : Benhur avait l'intendance sur la montagne d'Ephraïm.
9 Ben-deker, in Makaz, Sha-albim, Beth-shemesh, and Elonbeth-hanan;	9 Bendécar à Maccès, Salébim, Bethsamès, Elon et Béthanan.
10 Ben-hesed, in Arubboth (to him belonged Socoh and all the land of Hepher);	10 Benhésed à Aruboth ; il avait aussi Socho et toute la terre d'Hépher.
11 Ben-abinadab, in all Naphath-dor (he had Taphath the daughter of Solomon as his wife);	11 Bénabinadab, qui avait l'intendance de tout le pays de Néphat-Dor, avait épousé Tapheth, fille de Salomon.
12 Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach, Megiddo, and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan below Jezreel, and from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah, as far as the other side of Jokmeam;	12 Bana, fils d'Ahilud, était gouverneur de Thanac, de Mageddo, de tout le pays de Bethsan qui est près de Sarthana au-dessous de Jezraël, depuis Bethsan jusqu'à Abelméhula vis-à-vis de Jecmaan.
13 Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (he had the villages of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead, and he had the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars);	13 Bengaber était intendant de Ramoth-Galaad ; et il avait les bourgs de Jaïr, fils de Manassé, qui sont en Galaad. Il commandait dans tout le pays d'Argob, qui est en Basan, à soixante villes qui étaient fort grandes et fermées de murailles, et avaient des portes de bronze (verrous d'airain).
14 Ahinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;	14 Ahinadab, fils d'Addo, était intendant à Manaïm.
15 Ahima-az, in Naphtali (he had taken Basemath the daughter of Solomon as his wife);	15 Achimaas était préfet de Nephtali ; et il avait aussi épousé une fille de Salomon, nommée Basémath.
16 Baana the son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;	16 Baana, fils d'Husi, était préfet d'Aser et de Baloth.
17 Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar;	17 Josaphat, fils de Pharué, l'était d'Issachar.
18 Shime-i the son of Ela, in Benjamin;	18 Séméi, fils d'Ela, de Benjamin.
19 Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan. And there was one officer in the land of Judah.	19 Gaber, fils d'Uri, dans la province de Galaad, dans le pays de Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens, et d'Og, roi de Basan, et sur tout ce qui était en cette région.
20 Judah and Israel were as many as the sand by the sea; they ate and drank and were happy.	20 Le peuple de Juda et d'Israël était innombrable comme le sable de la mer ; et tous mangeaient et buvaient avec une grande joie.
21 Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt; they brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.	21 (Or) Salomon avait sous sa domination tous les royaumes situés entre le fleuve de l'Euphrate (de la terre, note) et le pays des Philistins, et jusqu'à la frontière d'Egypte. Ils lui offraient tous des présents, et lui demeurèrent assujettis tous les jours de sa vie.
22 Solomon's provision for one day was thirty cors of fine flour, and sixty cors of meal,	22 Les vivres pour la table de Salomon se composaient chaque jour de trente mesures (cors) de fleur de farine, et de soixante de farine ordinaire,
23 ten fat oxen, and twenty pasture-fed cattle, a hundred sheep, besides harts, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl.	23 de dix bœufs gras, de vingt bœufs de pâturages, de cent béliers, outre la (viande de) venaison (, les) (des) cerfs, les (des) chevreuils, les bœufs sauvages (des bubales) et (de) la volaille.
24 For he had dominion over all the region west of the Euphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza, over all the kings west of the Euphrates; and he had peace on all sides round about him.	24 Car il dominait sur tous les pays qui étaient de l'autre côté du fleuve de l'Euphrate, depuis Taphsa jusqu'à Gaza, et tous les rois de ces provinces lui étaient assujettis ; et il avait la paix de toutes parts aux alentours.
25 And Judah and Israel dwelt in safety, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, all the days of Solomon.	25 Dans tout Juda et tout Israël chacun demeurait sans aucune crainte, sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, depuis Dan jusqu'à Bersabée, pendant tout le règne de Salomon.
26 Solomon also had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.	26 Et Salomon avait dans ses (quarante-mille, note) écuries (quarante mille) (pour les) chevaux pour les (des) chars, et douze mille chevaux de selle (cavaliers).
27 And those officers supplied provisions for King Solomon, and for all who came to King Solomon's table, each one in his month; they let nothing be lacking.	27 Ces officiers du roi, dont on a parlé plus haut, avaient la charge de les nourrir, et ils fournissaient au (en) temps voulu, avec un soin extrême, tout ce qui était nécessaire pour la table du roi Salomon.
28 Barley also and straw for the horses and swift steeds they brought to the place where it was required, each according to his charge.	28 Ils faisaient aussi porter l'orge et la paille pour les chevaux et les autres bêtes au lieu où était le roi, selon l'ordre qu'ils avaient reçu.
29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and largeness of mind like the sand on the seashore,	29 Dieu donna de plus à Salomon une sagesse et une prudence prodigieuse, et une étendue de cœur aussi grande que celle du sable qui est sur le rivage de la mer.
30 so that Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt.	30 Et la sagesse de Salomon surpassait la sagesse de tous les Orientaux et de tous les Egyptiens.
31 For he was wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the nations round about.	31 Il était plus sage que tous les hommes, plus sage qu'Ethan l'Ezrahite, qu'Héman, Chalcol et Dorda, fils de Mahol ; et sa réputation était répandue dans toutes les nations voisines.
32 He also uttered three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.	32 Salomon composa aussi trois mille paraboles, et il fit cinq mille (mille et cinq) cantiques.
33 He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall; he spoke also of beasts, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of fish.	33 Il traita aussi de tous les arbres, depuis le cèdre qui est sur le Liban, jusqu'à l'hysope qui sort de la muraille ; et il traita de même des animaux de la terre, des oiseaux, des reptiles, et des poissons.
34 And men came from all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.	34 Et l'on venait de tous les pays pour entendre la sagesse de Salomon, et tous les rois de la terre envoyaient vers lui, pour être instruits par sa sagesse.
