1 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.	1 Davide juntou de novo todos os homens escolhidos de Israel, em número de trinta mil,
2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the LORD of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim.	2 levantou-se e partiu com toda a gente da tribo de Judá, que, estava com ele, para transportar a arca de Deus, sobre a qual é invocado o nome do Senhor dos exércitos, que tem o seu assento sobre ela, entre os querubins.
3 And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart	3 Puseram a arca de Deus sobre um carro novo, e levaram-na da casa de Abinadab, que estava sobre a colina. Oza e Ahlo, filhos de Abinadab, conduziam o carro novo.
4 with the ark of God; and Ahio went before the ark.	4 Tendo-a tirado da casa de Abinadab, que estava sobre a colina, Ahio ia adiante da arca guardando a arca de Deus.
5 And David and all the house of Israel were making merry before the LORD with all their might, with songs and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals.	5 Davide, porém, e todo o Israel dançavam diante do Senhor ao som de toda a casta de instrumentos de madeira, e cítaras, e liras, e tímpanos, e sistros, e címbalos.
6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled.	6 Quando chegaram à eira de Nacon, Oza estendeu a mão para a arca de Deus e susteve-a, porque os bois escoicinhavam, e tinham-na feito pender.
7 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there because he put forth his hand to the ark; and he died there beside the ark of God.	7 O Senhor indignou-se muito contra Oza, e feriu-o pela sua temeridade: Oza caiu morto ali mesmo junto da arca de Deus.
8 And David was angry because the LORD had broken forth upon Uzzah; and that place is called Perez-uzzah, to this day.	8 Davide contristou-se, porque o Senhor tinha ferido Oza. Aquele lugar ficou-se chamando até ao dia de hoje: Castigo de Oza.
9 And David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, "How can the ark of the LORD come to me?"	9 Davide temeu o Senhor, naquele dia, dizendo: Como entrará a arca do Senhor em minha casa?
10 So David was not willing to take the ark of the LORD into the city of David; but David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.	10 E não quis que levassem a arca do Senhor para sua casa, na cidade de Davide, mas fê-la ir para casa de Obededom, de Get.
11 And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months; and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and all his household.	11 A arca do Senhor esteve três meses em casa de Obededom, de Get, e o Senhor abençoou Obededom e toda a sua casa.
12 And it was told King David, "The LORD has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing;	12 Foi anunciado ao rei Davide que o Senhor tinha abençoado Obededom e tudo o que lhe pertencia, por causa da arca de Deus. Foi então Davide, e levou a arca de Deus de casa de Obededom para a cidade de Davide, com um jubiloso cortejo.
13 and when those who bore the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.	13 Quando os que levavam a arca do Senhor tinham dado seis passos, foi oferecido um sacrifício de um boi e de um carneiro.
14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.	14 Davide dançava diante do Senhor com todas as suas forças, cingido dum éfode de linho.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the horn.	15 Davide e toda a casa de Israel conduziram a arca do testamento do Senhor com júbilo e ao som de trombetas.
16 As the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window, and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.	16 Quando entrou a arca do Senhor na cidade de Davide, Micol, filha de Saul, olhando da janela, viu o rei Davide dançando e saltando diante do Senhor, e desprezou-o em seu coração.
17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place, inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.	17 Introduziram a arca do Senhor e colocaram-na no seu lugar, no meio do tabernáculo, que Davide lhe tinha preparado; depois disto Davide ofereceu holocaustos e vítimas pacíficas diante do Senhor.
18 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts,	18 Quando acabou de oferecer os holocaustos e as vítimas pacíficas, abençoou o povo em nome do Senhor dos exércitos.
19 and distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, to each a cake of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people departed, each to his house.	19 A seguir distribuiu a todo o povo de Israel, tanto a homens como a mulheres, a cada um um a torta de pão, um pedaço de carne de vaca assada, e uma pasta de uvas. E retirou-se todo o povo, cada um para sua casa.
20 And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants' maids, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!"	20 Retirou-se também Davide a sua casa, para a abençoar. Micol, filha de Saul, tendo saído ao encontro de Davide, disse: Que bela figura fez hoje o rei de Israel, despindo-se (das suas insígnias), diante das escravas de seus vassalos, e desnudando-se como faria um chocarreiro
21 And David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me above your father, and above all his house, to appoint me as prince over Israel, the people of the LORD--and I will make merry before the LORD.	21 Davide disse a Micol: Diante do Senhor, que me escolheu, preferindo-me a teu pai e a toda a sua família, e que me mandou que fosse eu o condutor do povo do Senhor em Israel,
22 I will make myself yet more contemptible than this, and I will be abased in your eyes; but by the maids of whom you have spoken, by them I shall be held in honor."	22 não só dançarei, mas também me farei mais vil do que me tenho feito, serei mais humilde aos teus olhos, e com isto aparecerei com mais glória diante das escravas, de que falaste.
23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.	23 E Micol, filha de Saul, não teve mais filhos até ao dia da sua morte.
