1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God say, 'You shall not eat of any tree of the garden'?"	1 Ma il serpente, il quale era più callido di tutti gli altri animali della terra li quali avea fatto il Signore Iddio, se ne venne alla femina, conoscendola di più fragile natura che l'uomo, e dissele: perchè comando Iddio a voi, che voi non mangiasti del legno della sapienza del bene e del male, ma d'ogni altro pomo del legno del paradiso sie?
2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden;	2 Al quale rispose la femina: de' frutti delli legni che sono nel paradiso usiamo noi bene;
3 but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"	3 ma del frutto del legno, che è nel mezzo del paradiso, ci comandò a noi Iddio, che noi non ne mangiassimo, e non ne toccassimo di quello, acciò che noi non moriamo.
4 But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not die.	4 Disse ancora il serpente alla femina: mai non morirai, nè tu nè egli.
5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."	5 Ma sa bene Iddio, che qualunque di voi mangerete di quello pomo, s'apriranno gli occhi vostri, e sarete sì come Idii, sapiendo lo bene e lo male.
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate.	6 Allora vide la femina, che buono fosse lo legno ad usarlo, ed agli occhi bello, e all'aspetto dilettevole. E poi tolse di quello frutto, e mangionne; e diedene al marito suo Adam, lo quale lo mangioe.
7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.	7 Ed incontenente s'apersero gli occhi d'amen due; e conciosia cosa ch' egli si conoscessero essere ignudi amendue, si tolsero le foglie del fico, e feceno voluppo insieme.
8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.	8 E conciosiacosa ch' egli udissero la voce del Signore Iddio, il quale venne nel paradiso all'aura dopo il meridie, si nascosono Adam e la moglie sua dinante alla faccia sua (cioè del Signore).
9 But the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, "Where are you?"	9 Iddio sì chiamoe Adam, e disse: dove sei, Adam?
10 And he said, "I heard the sound of thee in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself."	10 E Adam rispose a Dio: la voce tua nel paradiso ho udito; e temetti molto, conciosiacosachè ignudo fossi; e sì mi nascosi.
11 He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?"	11 E Iddio disse a lui: chi ti ha manifestato ch' eri ignudo, se non che del legno, del quale io ?'avea comandato che tu non mangiassi mai (del frutto ch' io t'avea vietato) e tu n'hai mangiato?
12 The man said, "The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate."	12 Rispose allora Adam: insegnollomi la femina, che tu mi desti per mia compagnia; ed ella mi diede del legno, onde io ne mangiai.
13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this that you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent beguiled me, and I ate."	13 Disse allora il Signore alla femina: e tu perchè facesti questa cosa? Ed ella rispose e disse: lo serpente m'ingannoe, ond'io ne mangiai.
14 The LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.	14 Disse lo Signore Iddio allo serpente: perciò che tu hai fatta questa cosa, maledetto sii tu tra tutti gli animali e le bestie della terra; e sopra lo petto tuo anderai, e la terra mangerai tutti i dì della vita tua.
15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."	15 E l'inimistà porrò tra te e la femina, e tra il seme tuo e il seme di lei; ed anco t'ra ella ti attriterà lo capo tuo, e tu insidierai lo calcagno suo.
16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you."	16 E poi disse in verità alla femina: Eva, io moltiplicheroe le sciagure tue e li concepimenti tuoi; in dolore parturirai i figliuoli; e sotto la signoria dell' uomo sarai, ed egli ti signorizzerà.
17 And to Adam he said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life;	17 Poi disse ad Adam: imperciochè tu udisti la voce della moglie tua, e mangiasti del frutto del legno, del quale io t'avea vietato, e comandato che tu non ne mangiasti, sì sarae maledetta la terra nel lavorio tuo; e nelle fatiche mangerai di quella tutti i dì della vita tua.
18 thorns and thistles it shall bring forth to you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.	18 Le spine e i triboli germinerà a te, e mangerai l'erba della terra.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; you are dust, and to dust you shall return."	19 E nel sudore del tuo volto userai del pane tuo, insino a tanto che tu ritornerai nella terra, della quale fatto se'; imperciocchè di polvere se', ed in polvere ritornerai.
20 The man called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.	20 Poi chiamò Adam il nome della moglie sua, Eva; imperciocchè madre fosse di tutti viventi.
21 And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins, and clothed them.	21 Fece poi il Signore Iddio ad Adam, ed alla sua moglie, gonelle di pelle, e vestio loro.
22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever"--	22 E disse: ecco, Adam, fatto se quasi come uno di noi, sapiente lo bene e lo male. Adunque acciò che per avventura non metta la mano sua, e pigli del legno della vita, e mangilo, e viva semireinai.
23 therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.	23 E dopo questo il Signore Iddio mandò Adam (e la moglie) fuori del paradiso della dilettanza, acciò ch' egli adoperasse la terra della quale era fatto.
24 He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.	24 E mandò fuora Adam, e collocò dinanzi uno cherubino con uno coltello di fuoco spaventevole, a guardare la via del legno della vita.
