Seconda lettera ai Corinzi 8

1 - Ora vi facciamo conoscere, o fratelli, la grazia di Dio concessa alle chiese di Macedonia,	1 And so we are making known to you, brothers, the grace of God that has been given in the churches of Macedonia.
2 che pur essendo provati molto dalle tribolazioni, abbondano d'allegrezza e la loro profonda povertà ha prodotto le sovrabbondanti larghezze della semplicità loro.	2 For within a great experience of tribulation, they have had an abundance of joy, and their profound poverty has only increased the richness of their simplicity.
3 E io son testimone che secondo le loro forze, anzi al di là delle loro forze, hanno dato, e spontanei,	3 And I bear witness to them, that they were willing to accept what was in accord with their ability, and even what was beyond their ability.
4 con viva istanza pregandoci di questa grazia di esser partecipi a questo ministero in favore dei santi;	4 For they were begging us, with great exhortation, for the grace and the communication of the ministry that is with the saints.
5 e non come noi ci si aspettava, ma diedero se stessi, primamente al Signore e a noi per la volontà di Dio,	5 And this is beyond what we had hoped, since they gave themselves, first of all to the Lord, and then also to us, through the will of God,
6 sicchè noi pregammo Tito che come ha cominciato così anche conduca a termine presso di voi questa beneficienza.	6 so much so that we petitioned Titus, that in the same manner as he had begun, he would also complete in you this same grace.
7 Ma siccome in ogni cosa abbondate, in fede, parola e scienza e in ogni diligenza e in amore per noi, fate di sovrabbondare anche in questa carità.	7 But, just as in all things you abound in faith and in word and in knowledge and in all solicitude, and even more so in your charity toward us, so also may you abound in this grace.
8 Non parlo per dar ordini; ma, data la diligenza altrui, metto alla prova ciò che v'è di schietto nel vostro amore;	8 I am speaking, not commanding. But through the solicitude of others, I approve of the good character of your charity.
9 poichè voi conoscete la grazia del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, che per noi mendicò essendo ricco, affinchè voi per la sua povertà diventaste ricchi.	9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that through his poverty, you might become rich.
10 In questo io dò semplicemente un consiglio, poichè questo a voi giova, a voi che fin dall'anno passato avete cominciato non solo a fare ma anche a volere.	10 And about this, I give my counsel. For this is useful to those of you who, only a year earlier, had just begun to act, or even to be willing to act.
11 Ed ora portate a termine anche il fare, affinchè alla prontezza del volere corrisponda anche il compimento dell'opera secondo i vostri averi.	11 So, truly now, accomplish this in deed, so that, in the same manner as your willing mind is prompted, you may also act, out of that which you have.
12 Giacchè se vi è la pronta volontà, è bene accetta secondo che uno ha, non secondo non ha.	12 For when the will is prompted, it receives according to what that person has, not according to what that person does not have.
13 Non si tratta di dar sollievo ad altri e afflizione a voi, ma per uguaglianza al momento presente la vostra sovrabbondanza supplisca alla loro indigenza,	13 And it is not that others should be relieved, while you are troubled, but that there should be an equality.
14 affinchè sopravvenga una sovrabbondanza loro a compensare la vostra indigenza, e ci sia così il pareggio, secondo sta scritto:	14 In this present time, let your abundance supply their need, so that their abundance may also supply your need, in order that there may be an equality, just as it was written:
15 " Chi aveva raccolto molto non n'ebbe di troppo, e chi aveva raccolto poco non n'ebbe scarsità ".	15 “He with more did not have too much; and he with less did not have too little.”
16 E grazie sian rese a Dio che lo stesso zelo per voi ha posto nel cuore di Tito,	16 But thanks be to God, who has granted to the heart of Titus, this same solicitude for you.
17 perchè accolse la preghiera, e fattosi più premuroso spontaneamente partì per venire da voi.	17 For certainly, he accepted the exhortation. But since he was more solicitous, he went to you of his own free will.
18 E con lui abbiamo inviato il fratello di cui risuona la lode nel Vangelo per tutte le chiese;	18 And we have even sent with him a brother whose praise accompanies the Gospel throughout all the churches.
19 e anzi fu eletto dalle chiese compagno di viaggio nostro in questa buona opera amministrata da noi per la gloria dello stesso Signore, e per dar prova della nostra pronta volontà.	19 And not only that, but he was also chosen by the churches to be a companion for our sojourn in this grace, which is ministered by us with our determined will, to the glory of the Lord.
20 Noi disponiamo questo per evitare che altri ci biasimi relativamente a questa abbondante colletta che è amministrata da noi;	20 So let us avoid this, lest anyone disparage us over the abundance that is ministered by us.
21 poichè noi ci preoccupiamo di quel che è bene, non solo al cospetto di Dio, ma anche degli uomini.	21 For we provide for what is good, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of men.
22 E con loro abbiam pure mandato il fratello nostro che in molte occasioni e tante volte abbiamo sperimentato come pieno di zelo, ed ora è molto più zelante per la molta fiducia che ha in voi.	22 And we have also sent with them our brother, whom we have proven to be frequently solicitous in many matters. But now there is a greater solicitousness, which is greatly entrusted to you;
23 Rispetto a Tito, dunque, dico, è un mio compagno e vostro cooperatore, e i nostri fratelli, sono apostoli delle Chiese, gloria di Cristo.	23 and whether it concerns Titus, who is a companion to me and a helper to you, or whether it concerns our brothers, the Apostles of the churches, it is to the glory of Christ.
24 Date dunque in loro al cospetto delle Chiese, prova del vostro amore, e giustificazione del perchè noi meniamo vanto di voi.	24 Therefore, in the sight of the churches, show them the proof of your charity and of our glorying about you.
