1 Then all the troops of the Philistines were gathered together at Aphek. But Israel also made camp, above the spring which is in Jezreel.	1 Les Philistins concentrèrent toutes leurs troupes à Apheq, tandis que les Israélites campaient à lasource qui est en Yizréel.
2 And indeed, the princes of the Philistines advanced by hundreds and by thousands; but David and his men were in the rear with Achish.	2 Les princes des Philistins défilaient par centuries et par milliers, et David et ses hommesdéfilaient les derniers avec Akish.
3 And the leaders of the Philistines said to Achish, “What do these Hebrews intend to do?” And Achish said to the leaders of the Philistines: “Could you be ignorant about David, who was the servant of Saul, the king of Israel, and who has been with me for many days, even years, and I have not found within him anything, from the day that he fled to me, even to this day?”	3 Les princes des Philistins demandèrent: "Qu'est-ce que ces Hébreux", et Akish répondit auxprinces des Philistins: "Mais c'est David, le serviteur de Saül; roi d'Israël! Voici un an ou deux qu'il est avec moiet je n'ai trouvé aucun reproche à lui faire depuis le jour qu'il s'est rendu à moi jusqu'à maintenant."
4 Then the leaders of the Philistines became angry against him, and they said to him: “Let this man return, and let him settle in his place, which you appointed for him. But let him not descend with us to battle, lest he become an adversary to us when we begin to fight. For in what other way will he be able to please his lord, except with our heads?	4 Les princes des Philistins s'emportèrent contre lui et ils lui dirent: "Renvoie cet homme et qu'ilretourne au lieu que tu lui as assigné. Qu'il ne vienne pas en guerre avec nous et ne se retourne pas contre nousdans le combat! Comment celui-là achèterait-il la faveur de son maître, sinon avec la tête des hommes que voici?
5 Is not this the David, about whom they were singing, while dancing, saying: ‘Saul struck down his thousands, but David his ten thousands?’ ”	5 N'est-il pas ce David, duquel on chantait dans les choeurs: "Saül à tué ses milliers et David sesmyriades?"
6 Therefore, Achish called David, and he said to him: “As the Lord lives, you are good and righteous in my sight, even in your departure and your return with me in the military camp. And I have not found anything evil in you, from the day that you came to me, even to this day. But you are not pleasing to the princes.	6 Akish appela donc David et lui dit: "Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, tu es loyal et il me plairaitque tu sortes et rentres avec moi dans le camp, car je n'ai rien trouvé de mauvais en toi depuis le jour que tu esvenu chez moi jusqu'à maintenant. Mais tu n'es pas bien vu des princes.
7 Therefore, return, and go in peace, so that you do not offend the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.”	7 Donc retourne et va-t'en en paix, pour ne pas indisposer les princes des Philistins."
8 And David said to Achish, “But what have I done, or what have you found in me, your servant, from the day that I was in your sight to this day, so that I may not go out and fight against the enemies of my lord, the king?”	8 David dit à Akish: "Qu'ai-je donc fait et qu'as-tu à reprocher à ton serviteur depuis le jour où jesuis entré à ton service jusqu'à maintenant, pour que je ne puisse pas venir et combattre les ennemis deMonseigneur le roi?"
9 And in response, Achish said to David: “I know that you are good in my sight, like an angel of God. But the leaders of the Philistines have said: ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’	9 Akish répondit à David: "C'est vrai que tu m'es aussi agréable qu'un ange de Dieu, seulement lesprinces des Philistins ont dit: Il ne faut pas qu'il aille au combat avec nous.
10 And so, rise up in the morning, you and the servants of your lord who came with you. And when you have risen up in the night, as it begins to be light, go forth.”	10 Donc lève-toi de bon matin avec les serviteurs de ton maître qui sont venus avec toi, et allez àl'endroit que je vous ai assigné. Ne garde en ton coeur aucun ressentiment, car tu m'es agréable. Vous vouslèverez de grand matin et, dès qu'il fera jour, vous partirez."
11 And so David rose up in the night, he and his men, so that they might set out in the morning. And they returned to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines ascended to Jezreel.	11 David et ses hommes se levèrent de bonne heure pour partir dès le matin et retourner au paysphilistin. Quant aux Philistins, ils montèrent en Yizréel.
