1 For the law contains the shadow of future good things, not the very image of these things. So, by the very same sacrifices which they offer ceaselessly each year, they can never cause these to approach perfection.	1 No conteniendo, en efecto, la Ley más que una sombra de los bienes futuros, no la realidad de las cosas, no puede nunca, mediante unos mismos sacrificios que se ofrecen sin cesar año tras año, dar la perfección a los que se acercan.
2 Otherwise, they would have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, once cleansed, would no longer be conscious of any sin.	2 De otro modo, ¿no habrían cesado de ofrecerlos, al no tener ya conciencia de pecado los que ofrecen ese culto, una vez purificados?
3 Instead, in these things, a commemoration of sins is made every year.	3 Al contrario, con ellos se renueva cada año el recuerdo de los pecados,
4 For it is impossible for sins to be taken away by the blood of oxen and goats.	4 pues es imposible que sangre de toros y machos cabríos borre pecados.
5 For this reason, as Christ enters into the world, he says: “Sacrifice and oblation, you did not want. But you have fashioned a body for me.	5 Por eso, al entrar en este mundo, dice: Sacrificio y oblación no quisiste; pero me has formado un cuerpo.
6 Holocausts for sin were not pleasing to you.	6 Holocaustos y sacrificios por el pecado no te agradaron.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I draw near.’ At the head of the book, it has been written of me that I should do your will, O God.”	7 Entonces dije: ¡He aquí que vengo - pues de mí está escrito en el rollo del libro - a hacer, oh Dios, tu voluntad!
8 In the above, by saying, “Sacrifices, and oblations, and holocausts for sin, you did not want, nor are those things pleasing to you, which are offered according to the law;	8 Dice primero: Sacrificios y oblaciones y holocaustos y sacrificios por el pecado no los quisiste ni te agradaron - cosas todas ofrecidas conforme a la Ley -
9 then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,’ ” he takes away the first, so that he may establish what follows.	9 entonces - añade -: He aquí que vengo a hacer tu voluntad. Abroga lo primero para establecer el segundo.
10 For by this will, we have been sanctified, through the one time oblation of the body of Jesus Christ.	10 Y en virtud de esta voluntad somos santificados, merced a la oblación de una vez para siempre del cuerpo de Jesucristo.
11 And certainly, every priest stands by, ministering daily, and frequently offering the same sacrifices, which are never able to take away sins.	11 Y, ciertamente, todo sacerdote está en pie, día tras día, oficiando y ofreciendo reiteradamente los mismos sacrificios, que nunca pueden borrar pecados.
12 But this man, offering one sacrifice for sins, sits at the right hand of God forever,	12 El, por el contrario, habiendo ofrecido por los pecados un solo sacrificio, se sentó a la diestra de Dios para siempre,
13 awaiting that time when his enemies will be made his footstool.	13 esperando desde entonces hasta que sus enemigos sean puestos por escabel de sus pies.
14 For, by one oblation, he has brought to fulfillment, for all time, those who are sanctified.	14 En efecto, mediante una sola oblación ha llevado a la perfección para siempre a los santificados.
15 Now the Holy Spirit also testifies for us about this. For afterward, he said:	15 También el Espíritu Santo nos da testimonio de ello. Porque, después de haber dicho:
16 “And this is the testament which I will commit to them after those days, says the Lord. I will instill my laws in their hearts, and I will inscribe my laws on their minds.	16 Esta es la Alianza que pactaré con ellos después de aquellos días, dice el Señor: Pondré mis leyes en sus corazones, y en su mente las grabaré,
17 And I will no longer remember their sins and iniquities.”	17 añade: Y de sus pecados e iniquidades no me acordaré ya.
18 Now, when there is a remission of these things, there is no longer an oblation for sin.	18 Ahora bien, donde hay remisión de estas cosas, ya no hay más oblación por el pecado.
19 And so, brothers, have faith in the entrance into the Holy of Holies by the blood of Christ,	19 Teniendo, pues, hermanos, plena seguridad para entrar en el santuario en virtud de la sangre de Jesús,
20 and in the new and living Way, which he has initiated for us by the veil, that is, by his flesh,	20 por este camino nuevo y vivo, inaugurado por él para nosotros, a través del velo, es decir, de su propia carne,
21 and in the Great Priest over the house of God.	21 y con un Sumo Sacerdote al frente de la casa de Dios,
22 So, let us draw near with a true heart, in the fullness of faith, having hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and bodies absolved with clean water.	22 acerquémonos con sincero corazón , en plenitud de fe, purificados los corazones de conciencia mala y lavados los cuerpos con agua pura.
23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope, without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful.	23 Mantengamos firme la confesión de la esperanza, pues fiel es el autor de la Promesa.
24 And let us be considerate of one another, so as to prompt ourselves to charity and to good works,	24 Fijémonos los unos en los otros para estímulo de la caridad y las buenas obras,
25 not deserting our assembly, as some are accustomed to do, but consoling one another, and even more so as you see that the day is approaching.	25 sin abandonar vuestra propia asamblea, como algunos acostumbran hacerlo, antes bien, animándoos: tanto más, cuanto que veis que se acerca ya el Día.
26 For if we sin willingly, after receiving knowledge of the truth, there is no sacrifice remaining for sins,	26 Porque si voluntariamente pecamos después de haber recibido el pleno conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda sacrificio por los pecados,
27 but instead, a certain terrible expectation of judgment, and the rage of a fire that shall consume its adversaries.	27 sino la terrible espera del juicio y la furia del fuego pronto a devorar a los rebeldes.
28 If someone dies for acting against the law of Moses, and is shown no compassion because of two or three witnesses,	28 Si alguno viola la Ley de Moisés es condenado a muerte sin compasión, por la declaración de dos o tres testigos.
29 how much more, do you think, someone would deserve worse punishments, if he has tread upon the Son of God, and has treated the blood of the testament, by which he was sanctified, as unclean, and has acted with disgrace toward the Spirit of grace?	29 ¿Cuánto más grave castigo pensáis que merecerá el que pisoteó al Hijo de Dios, y tuvo como profana la sangre de la Alianza que le santificó, y ultrajó al Espíritu de la gracia?
30 For we know that he has said: “Vengeance is mine, and I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”	30 Pues conocemos al que dijo: Mía es la venganza; yo daré lo merecido. Y también: El Señor juzgará a su pueblo.
31 It is dreadful to fall into the hands of the living God.	31 ¡Es tremendo caer en la manos de Dios vivo!
32 But call to mind the former days, in which, after being enlightened, you endured a great struggle of afflictions.	32 Traed a la memoria los días pasados, en que después de ser iluminados, hubisteis de soportar un duro y doloroso combate,
33 And certainly, in one way, by insults and tribulations, you were made a spectacle, but in another way, you became the companions of those who were the object of such behavior.	33 unas veces expuestos públicamente a ultrajes y tribulaciones; otras, haciéndoos solidarios de los que así eran tratados.
34 For you even had compassion on those who were imprisoned, and you accepted with gladness being deprived of your goods, knowing that you have a better and more lasting substance.	34 Pues compartisteis los sufrimientos de los encarcelados; y os dejasteis despojar con alegría de vuestros bienes, conscientes de que poseíais una riqueza mejor y más duradera.
35 And so, do not lose your confidence, which has a great reward.	35 No perdáis ahora vuestra confianza, que lleva consigo una gran recompensa.
36 For it is necessary for you to be patient, so that, by doing the will of God, you may receive the promise.	36 Necesitáis paciencia en el sufrimiento para cumplir la voluntad de Dios y conseguir así lo prometido.
37 “For, in a little while, and somewhat longer, he who is to come will return, and he will not delay.	37 Pues todavía un poco, muy poco tiempo; y el que ha de venir vendrá sin tardanza.
38 For my just man lives by faith. But if he were to draw himself back, he would not please my soul.”	38 Mi justo vivirá por la fe; mas si es cobarde, mi alma no se complacerá en él.
39 So then, we are not sons who are drawn away to perdition, but we are sons of faith toward the securing of the soul.	39 Pero nosotros no somos cobardes para perdición, sino creyentes para salvación del alma.
