Joshua 21

1 And the leaders of the families of Levi approached Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the rulers of the extended families of each of the tribes of the sons of Israel.	1 Los jefes de familia de los levitas se acercaron al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué, hijo de Nun, y a los jefes de familia de las tribus israelitas,
2 And they spoke to them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, and they said, “The Lord instructed, by the hand of Moses, that cities should be given to us as habitations, with their suburbs to nourish our cattle.”	2 que estaban en Silo, en el país de Canaán, y les dijeron: «El Señor ordenó por medio de Moisés que se nos asignaran algunas ciudades, a fin de que residiéramos en ellas, y también sus campos de pastoreo para nuestros ganados».
3 And so the sons of Israel gave cities and their suburbs from their possessions, in accord with the order of the Lord.	3 Entonces los israelitas, conforme a la orden del Señor, dieron a los levitas las siguientes ciudades con sus campos de pastoreo, tomándolas de sus propias posesiones.
4 And the lot went out for the family of Kohath, of the sons of Aaron, the priest, from the tribes of Judah and Simeon and Benjamin: thirteen cities.	4 Se hizo el sorteo para los clanes de los quehatitas; y a los levitas descendientes de Aarón, el sacerdote, les tocaron en suerte trece ciudades de las tribus de Judá, de Simeón y de Benjamín;
5 And to the remainder of the sons of Kohath, that is, to the Levites who were left over, there went, from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.	5 a los clanes de los otros quehatitas les tocaron en suerte diez ciudades de las tribus de Efraím, de Dan y de la mitad de Manasés.
6 And next the lot went out to the sons of Gershon, so that they would receive, from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh at Bashan: the number of thirteen cities.	6 A los clanes de los gersonitas les tocaron en suerte trece ciudades de las tribus de Isacar, de Aser, de Neftalí y de la mitad de Manasés, en Basán.
7 And to the sons of Merari, by their families, from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun, there went twelve cities.	7 Y a los clanes de los meraritas les tocaron en suerte doce ciudades de las tribus de Rubén, de Gad y de Zabulón.
8 And so the sons of Israel gave cities and their suburbs to the Levites, just as the Lord instructed by the hand of Moses, distributing to each by lot.	8 Así los israelitas dieron a los levitas, mediante un sorteo, esas ciudades con sus campos de pastoreo, como el Señor lo había ordenado por medio de Moisés.
9 From the tribes of the sons of Judah and Simeon, Joshua gave cities, whose names are these:	9 Ellos les entregaron las ciudades de la tribu de Judá y de la tribu de Simeón que se nombran más adelante.
10 to the sons of Aaron, of the families of Kohath of the stock of Levi, (for the first lot went out for them,)	10 Y como la primera suerte les tocó a los levitas que pertenecían a los clanes de los quehatitas y eran descendientes de Aarón,
11 the city of Arba, the father of Anak, which is called Hebron, on the mountain of Judah, and its surrounding suburbs.	11 a ellos les dieron Quiriat Arbá –la ciudad de Arba, el padre de Anac, o sea, Hebrón– en la montaña de Judá, con los campos de pastoreo que tenía a su alrededor.
12 Yet truly, the fields and its villages he had given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, as a possession.	12 Los campos de cultivo y los poblados próximos a la ciudad, en cambio, ya habían sido dados a Caleb, hijo de Iefuné.
13 Therefore, he gave to the sons of Aaron the priest, Hebron as a city of refuge, as well as its suburbs, and Libnah, with its suburbs,	13 Y Además de Hebrón –que era una ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– los israelitas dieron a los descendientes del sacerdote Aarón las ciudades de Libná,

17 Then, from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, he gave Gibeon, and Geba,	17 De la tribu de Benjamín les dieron Gabaón, Gueba,
18 and Anathoth, and Almon, with their suburbs: four cities.	18 Anatot y Almón, todas con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
19 All the cities together of the sons of Aaron, the priest, were thirteen, with their suburbs.	19 Trece ciudades y sus campos de pastoreo era el total de las ciudades pertenecientes a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón.
20 Yet truly, the remainder of the families of the sons of Kohath, of the stock of Levi, were given this possession:	20 A los clanes de los otros levitas descendientes de Quehat les tocaron en suerte ciudades de la tribu de Efraím.
21 from the tribe of Ephraim, Shechem, one of the cities of refuge, with its suburbs, on mount Ephraim, and Gezer,	21 A ellos les dieron Siquem, en la montaña de Efraím –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– con sus correspondientes campos de pastoreo, y también Guézer,
22 and Kibzaim, and Beth-horon, with their suburbs, four cities;	22 Quibsaim, Bet Jorón, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
23 and from the tribe of Dan, Elteke and Gibbethon,	23 De la tribu de Dan les dieron Eltequé, Guibetón,
24 and Aijalon and Gath-Rimmon, with their suburbs, four cities;	24 Aialón, Gat Rimón, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
25 then, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-Rimmon, with their suburbs, two cities.	25 De la mitad de la tribu de Manasés les dieron Taanac e Ibleam, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: dos ciudades.
26 All the cities were ten, with their suburbs; these were given to the sons of Kohath, of the lesser degree.	26 Eran en total diez ciudades, con sus campos de pastoreo, para los restantes clanes de los quehatitas.
27 Likewise, to the sons of Gershon, of the stock of Levi, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, went Golan in Bashan, one of the cities of refuge, and Bosra, with their suburbs, two cities;	27 A los clanes levíticos de los gersonitas les dieron: de la mitad de la tribu de Manasés, Golán en Basán –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– y también Astarot, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
28 also, from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion, and Daberath,	28 De la tribu de Isacar les dieron Quisión, Daberat,
29 and Jarmuth, and Engannim, with their suburbs, four cities;	29 Iarmut y En Ganím, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
30 then, from the tribe of Asher, Mishal and Abdon,	30 De la tribu de Aser les dieron Misal, Abdón,
31 and Helkath and Rehob, with their suburbs, four cities;	31 Jelcat y Rejob, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
32 likewise, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, one of the cities of refuge, and Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan, with their suburbs, three cities.	32 De la tribu de Neftalí les dieron Quedes en Galilea –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– Jamot Dor y Racat, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: tres ciudades.
33 All the cities of the families of Gershon were thirteen, with their suburbs.	33 Las ciudades de los clanes de los gersonitas, con sus respectivos campos de pastoreo, eran trece en total.
34 Then, to the sons of Merari, Levites of the lesser degree, by their families, were given, from the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and Kartah,	34 El resto de los levitas, o sea, a los clanes de los meraritas les dieron: de la tribu de Zabulón, Iocneam, Cartá,
35 and Dimnah and Nahalal, four cities with their suburbs;	35 Rimón y Nahalal, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
36 from the tribe of Reuben, beyond the Jordan, opposite Jericho, Bezer in the wilderness, one of the cities of refuge, Misor and Jazer, and Jethson and Mephaath, four cities with their suburbs;	36 De la tribu de Rubén, al otro lado del Jordán les dieron Beser –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– que está situada en el desierto, sobre el altiplano, y además Iahás,
37 from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth of Gilead, one of the cities of refuge, and Mahanaim and Heshbon and Jazer, four cities with their suburbs.	37 Quedemot y Mefaat, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
38 All the cities of the sons of Merari, by their families and extended families, were twelve.	38 De la tribu de Gad, les dieron Ramot de Galaad –la ciudad de refugio para los homicidas– y además, Majanaim,
39 And so all the cities of the Levites, in the midst of the possession of the sons of Israel, were forty-eight,	39 Jesbón y Lázer, cada una con sus campos de pastoreo: cuatro ciudades.
40 with their suburbs, each distributed by families.	40 En total, eran doce las ciudades asignadas mediante un sorteo al resto de los clanes levíticos, o sea, a los meraritas.
41 And the Lord God gave to Israel all the land that he had sworn he would deliver to their fathers. And they possessed it, and they lived in it.	41 Por lo tanto, las ciudades levíticas en medio de las posesiones de los israelitas eran cuarenta y ocho en total, con sus campos de pastoreo.
42 And he gave them peace with all the surrounding nations. And none of their enemies dared to stand against them; instead, they were brought under their sovereignty.	42 Cada una de estas ciudades incluía, además de la ciudad, los campos de pastoreo que tenían a su alrededor. Lo mismo sucedía con todas las ciudades mencionadas.
43 Indeed, not so much as one word that he had promised to provide for them was left empty; instead, everything was fulfilled.	43 Así el Señor entregó a Israel todo el territorio que había jurado dar a sus padres. Los israelitas tomaron posesión de él y lo habitaron.
	44 El Señor les dio la paz en todas sus fronteras, como lo había jurado a sus padres, y ninguno de sus enemigos pudo resistirles, porque el Señor se los entregó a todos.
	45 Ni una sola de las admirables promesas que el Señor había hecho a los israelitas cayó en el vacío: todas se cumplieron.
