1 Now the Apostles and brothers who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the Word of God.	1 Les Apôtres et les frères qui étaient en Judée apprirent que les gentils aussi avaient reçu la parole de Dieu.
2 Then, when Peter had gone up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision argued against him,	2 Lorsque Pierre fut remonté à Jérusalem, les fidèles de la circoncision disputaient contre lui,
3 saying, “Why did you enter to uncircumcised men, and why did you eat with them?”	3 en disant: Pourquoi es-tu entré chez des hommes incirconcis, et as-tu mangé avec eux?
4 And Peter began to explain to them, in an orderly manner, saying:	4 Mais Pierre commença à leur exposer l'ordre des faits en disant:
5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and I saw, in an ecstasy of mind, a vision: a certain container descending, like a great linen sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners. And it drew near to me.	5 J'étais dans la ville de Joppé, en prière, et je vis dans un ravissement d'esprit une vision; c'était un objet qui descendait du ciel, semblable à une grande nappe nouée aux quatre coins, et elle vint jusqu'à moi;
6 And looking into it, I considered and saw the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the reptiles, and the flying things of the air.	6 la regardant avec attention, j'y vis des quadrupèdes terrestres, des bêtes sauvages, des reptiles et des oiseaux du ciel.
7 Then I also heard a voice saying to me: ‘Rise up, Peter. Kill and eat.’	7 J'entendis aussi une voix qui me disait: Lève-toi, Pierre; tue et mange.
8 But I said: ‘Never, lord! For what is common or unclean has never entered into my mouth.’	8 Je dis: Je ne le puis, Seigneur; jamais rien de profane ou de souillé n'est entré dans ma bouche.
9 Then the voice responded a second time from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed, you shall not call common.’	9 La voix me parla du Ciel une seconde fois: Ce que Dieu a purifié, ne l'appelle pas profane.
10 Now this was done three times. And then everything was taken up again into heaven.	10 Cela se fit par trois fois; puis tout fut retiré dans le ciel.
11 And behold, immediately there were three men standing near the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.	11 Et voici que trois hommes se présentèrent aussitôt dans la maison où j'étais, envoyés vers moi de Césarée.
12 Then the Spirit told me that I should go with them, doubting nothing. And these six brothers went with me also. And we entered into the house of the man.	12 Et l'Esprit me dit d'aller avec eux sans hésiter. Les six frères que voici vinrent aussi avec moi, et nous entrâmes dans la maison de cet homme.
13 And he described for us how he had seen an Angel in his house, standing and saying to him: ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter.	13 Il nous raconta comment il avait vu dans sa maison un Ange debout, et lui disant: Envoie à Joppé, et fais venir Simon, qui est surnommé Pierre;
14 And he shall speak to you words, by which you shall be saved with your whole house.’	14 il te dira des paroles par lesquelles tu seras sauvé, toi et toute ta maison.
15 And when I had begun to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, just as upon us also, in the beginning.	15 Quand j'eus commencé à parler, l'Esprit-Saint descendit sur eux, comme sur nous au commencement.
16 Then I remembered the words of the Lord, just as he himself said: ‘John, indeed, baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’	16 Alors je me souvins de la parole du Seigneur, quand Il disait: Jean a baptisé dans l'eau; mais vous, vous serez baptisé dans l'Esprit-Saint.
17 Therefore, if God gave them the same grace, as also to us, who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I would be able to prohibit God?”	17 Si donc Dieu leur a donné la même grâce qu'à nous, qui avons cru au Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui étais-je, moi, pour pouvoir empêcher Dieu?
18 Having heard these things, they were silent. And they glorified God, saying: “So has God also given to the Gentiles repentance unto life.”	18 Ayant entendu ces choses, ils se turent et glorifièrent Dieu, en disant: Dieu a donc accordé aux gentils la pénitence pour qu'ils aient la vie.
19 And some of them, having been dispersed by the persecution that had occurred under Stephen, traveled around, even to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the Word to no one, except to Jews only.	19 Cependant ceux qui avaient été dispersés par la persécution, survenue à l'occasion d'Etienne, allèrent jusqu'en Phénicie, en Chypre et à Antioche, n'annonçant la parole à personne, si ce n'est aux Juifs seulement.
20 But some of these men from Cyprus and Cyrene, when they had entered into Antioch, were speaking also to the Greeks, announcing the Lord Jesus.	20 Mais quelques-uns d'entre eux, qui étaient de Chypre et de Cyrène, étant entrés dans Antioche, parlèrent aussi aux Grecs, annonçant le Seigneur Jésus.
21 And the hand of the Lord was with them. And a great number believed and were converted to the Lord.	21 La main du Seigneur était avec eux, et un grand nombre de croyants se convertirent au Seigneur.
22 Now the news came to the ears of the Church at Jerusalem about these things, and they sent Barnabas as far as Antioch.	22 Le bruit en parvint aux oreilles de l'église qui était à Jérusalem, et ils envoyèrent Barnabé jusqu'à Antioche.
23 And when he had arrived there and had seen the grace of God, he was gladdened. And he exhorted them all to continue in the Lord with a resolute heart.	23 Lorsqu'il fut arrivé et qu'il eut vu la grâce de Dieu, il se réjouit, et il les exhortait tous à persévérer avec un coeur ferme dans le Seigneur;
24 For he was a good man, and he was filled with the Holy Spirit and with faith. And a great multitude was added to the Lord.	24 car c'était un homme bon, plein de l'Esprit-Saint et de foi. Et une foule nombreuse se joignit au Seigneur.
25 Then Barnabas set out for Tarsus, so that he might seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch.	25 Barnabé se rendit ensuite à Tarse, pour chercher Saul; l'ayant trouvé, il l'amena à Antioche.
26 And they were conversing there in the Church for an entire year. And they taught such a great multitude, that it was at Antioch that the disciples were first known by the name of Christian.	26 Et ils demeurèrent une année dans cette église, et ils instruisirent une foule nombreuse; en sorte que ce fut à Antioche que, pour la première fois, les disciples furent appelés chrétiens.
27 Now in these days, prophets from Jerusalem went over to Antioch.	27 En ces jours-là, des prophètes vinrent de Jérusalem à Antioche;
28 And one of them, named Agabus, rising up, signified through the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine over the entire world, which did happen under Claudius.	28 et l'un d'eux, nommé Agabus, se levant, prédit par l'Esprit qu'il y aurait une grande famine sur toute la terre; elle arriva, en effet, sous Claude.
29 Then the disciples declared, according to what each one possessed, what they would offer to be sent to the brothers living in Judea.	29 Et les disciples résolurent d'envoyer, chacun selon ce qu'il avait, un secours aux frères qui demeuraient en Judée.
30 And so they did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.	30 Ce qu'ils firent, l'envoyant aux anciens par les mains de Barnabé et Saul.
