1 And it happened afterwards that he was making a journey through the cities and towns, preaching and evangelizing the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him,	1 Il arriva ensuite que Jésus parcourait les villes et les villages, prêchant et annonçant l'Evangile du royaume de Dieu. Et les douze étaient avec lui,
2 along with certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had departed,	2 comme aussi quelques femmes, qui avaient été guéries (délivrées) d'esprits malins et (guéries) de maladies : Marie, appelée Madeleine, de laquelle sept démons étaient sortis ;
3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many other women, who were ministering to him from their resources.	3 Jeanne, femme de Chusa, intendant d'Hérode, et Suzanne, et beaucoup d'autres, qui l'assistaient de leurs biens.
4 Then, when a very numerous crowd was gathering together and hurrying from the cities to him, he spoke using a comparison:	4 Or, comme une grande foule s'était assemblée, et qu'on accourait des villes auprès de lui, il dit en parabole :
5 “The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell beside the way; and it was trampled and the birds of the air devoured it.	5 Celui qui sème alla semer sa semence. Et tandis qu'il semait, une partie tomba le long du chemin ; et elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent.
6 And some fell upon rock; and having sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.	6 Une autre partie tomba sur la pierre ; et ayant levé, elle sécha, parce qu'elle n'avait pas d'humidité.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns, rising up with it, suffocated it.	7 Une autre tomba au milieu des épines ; et les épines, croissant avec elle, l'étouffèrent.
8 And some fell upon good soil; and having sprung up, it produced fruit one hundredfold.” As he said these things, he cried out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”	8 Une autre partie tomba dans une bonne terre, et, ayant levé, elle porta du fruit au centuple. En disant cela, il criait : Que celui-là entende, qui a des oreilles pour entendre.
9 Then his disciples questioned him as to what this parable might mean.	9 Ses disciples lui demandèrent ensuite ce que signifiait cette parabole.
10 And he said to them: “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to the rest, it is in parables, so that: seeing, they may not perceive, and hearing, they may not understand.	10 Il leur dit : A vous il a été donné de connaître le mystère du royaume de Dieu ; mais aux autres il n'est proposé qu'en paraboles, afin que, regardant, ils ne voient pas, et qu'entendant, ils ne comprennent pas.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.	11 Voici le sens de cette parabole. La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
12 And those beside the way are those who hear it, but then the devil comes and takes the word from their heart, lest by believing it they may be saved.	12 Ceux qui sont (Ce qui tombe) le long du chemin sont ceux qui écoutent ; ensuite le diable vient, et enlève de leur cœur la parole, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
13 Now those upon rock are those who, when they hear it, accept the word with joy, but these have no roots. So they believe for a time, but in a time of testing, they fall away.	13 Ceux qui sont (Ce qui tombe) sur la pierre sont ceux qui, entendant la parole, la reçoivent avec joie ; mais ils n'ont pas de racines : ils croient pour un temps, et au moment de la tentation ils se retirent.
14 And those which fell among thorns are those who have heard it, but as they go along, they are suffocated by the concerns and riches and pleasures of this life, and so they do not yield fruit.	14 Ce qui tombe parmi les épines, ce sont ceux qui ont écouté la parole, et qui s'en vont et sont étouffés par les sollicitudes, les richesses et les plaisirs de la vie, et ils ne portent pas de fruit.
15 But those which were on good soil are those who, upon hearing the word with a good and noble heart, retain it, and they bring forth fruit in patience.	15 Ce qui tombe dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui, ayant écouté la parole avec un cœur bon et excellent, la retiennent, et portent du fruit par la patience.
16 Now no one, lighting a candle, covers it with a container, or sets it under a bed. Instead, he places it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.	16 Personne, après avoir allumé une lampe, ne la couvre d'un vase ou ne la met sous un lit ; mais il la met sur un candélabre, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
17 For there is nothing secret, which will not be made clear, nor is there anything hidden, which will not be known and be brought into plain sight.	17 Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne soit manifesté, ni rien de secret qui ne soit connu et ne vienne au grand jour.
18 Therefore, take care how you listen. For whoever has, it will be given to him; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”	18 Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez. Car à celui qui a, on donnera ; et à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il croit avoir.
19 Then his mother and brothers came to him; but they were not able to go to him because of the crowd.	19 Cependant, sa mère et ses frères vinrent auprès de lui, et ils ne pouvaient l'aborder, à cause de la foule.
20 And it was reported to him, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”	20 On l'en avertit : Votre mère et vos frères sont dehors et veulent vous voir.
21 And in response, he said to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”	21 Et répondant, il leur dit : Ma mère et mes frères, ce sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu, et qui la pratiquent.
22 Now it happened, on a certain day, that he climbed into a little boat with his disciples. And he said to them, “Let us make a crossing over the lake.” And they embarked.	22 Or il arriva qu'un de ces jours, il monta sur une barque avec ses disciples ; et il leur dit : Passons de l'autre côté du lac. Et ils partirent.
23 And as they were sailing, he slept. And a windstorm descended over the lake. And they were taking on water and were in danger.	23 Pendant qu'ils naviguaient, il s'endormit ; et un tourbillon de vent fondit sur le lac, et la barque se remplissait d'eau, et ils étaient en péril.
24 Then, drawing near, they awakened him, saying, “Teacher, we are perishing.” But as he rose up, he rebuked the wind and the raging water, and they ceased. And a tranquility occurred.	24 S'approchant donc, ils l'éveillèrent, en disant : Maître, nous périssons. Mais lui, s'étant levé, menaça le vent et les flots agités ; et ils s'apaisèrent, et le calme se fit.
25 Then he said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they, being afraid, were amazed, saying to one another, “Who do you think this is, so that he commands both wind and sea, and they obey him?”	25 Alors il leur dit : Où est votre foi ? Mais eux, remplis de crainte et d'admiration (avec surprise), se disaient l'un à l'autre : Quel est donc celui-ci, qui commande aux vents et à la mer, et ils lui obéissent ?
26 And they sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 Ils abordèrent dans le pays des Géraséniens, qui est en face de la Galilée.
27 And when he had gone out to the land, a certain man met him, who had now had a demon for a long time. And he did not wear clothes, nor did he stay in a house, but among the sepulchers.	27 Et lorsque Jésus fut descendu à terre, il vint au-devant de lui un homme qui était possédé du démon depuis longtemps déjà, et qui ne portait pas de vêtement, et qui ne demeurait pas dans une maison, mais dans les sépulcres.
28 And when he saw Jesus, he fell down before him. And crying out in a loud voice, he said: “What is there between me and you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you not to torture me.”	28 Dès qu'il eut vu Jésus, il se prosterna devant lui, et poussant un grand cri, il dit : Qu'y a-t-il entre vous et moi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu très haut ? Je vous en conjure, ne me tourmentez pas.
29 For he was ordering the unclean spirit to depart from the man. For on many occasions, it would seize him, and he was bound with chains and held by fetters. But breaking the chains, he was driven by the demon into deserted places.	29 Car il commandait à l'esprit impur de sortir de cet homme. Il s'était, en effet, emparé de lui depuis longtemps, et quoiqu'on le gardât lié de chaînes et les fers aux pieds, il rompait ses liens, et était entraîné par le démon dans les déserts.
30 Then Jesus questioned him, saying, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered into him.	30 Jésus l'interrogea, en disant : Quel est ton nom ? Il répondit : Légion ; car de nombreux démons étaient entrés en lui.
31 And they petitioned him not to order them to go into the abyss.	31 Et ils le suppliaient de ne pas leur commander de s'en aller dans l'abîme.
32 And in that place, there was a herd of many swine, pasturing on the mountain. And they petitioned him to permit them to enter into them. And he permitted them.	32 Or il y avait là un grand troupeau de pourceaux, qui paissaient sur la montagne ; et les démons le suppliaient de leur permettre d'entrer dans ces pourceaux. Et il le leur permit.
33 Therefore, the demons departed from the man, and they entered into the swine. And the herd rushed violently down a precipice into the lake, and they were drowned.	33 Les démons sortirent donc de cet homme, et entrèrent dans les pourceaux ; et le troupeau alla se précipiter impétueusement dans le lac, et se noya.
34 And when those who were pasturing them had seen this, they fled and reported it in the city and the villages.	34 Quand ceux qui les faisaient paître eurent vu ce qui était arrivé, ils s'enfuirent, et ils l'annoncèrent dans la ville et dans les campagnes.
35 Then they went out to see what was happening, and they came to Jesus. And they found the man, from whom the demons had departed, sitting at his feet, clothed as well as in a sane mind, and they were afraid.	35 Les habitants sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé, et ils vinrent auprès de Jésus ; et ils trouvèrent l'homme, de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis à ses pieds, vêtu, et plein de bons sens ; et ils furent saisis de crainte.
36 Then those who had seen this also reported to them how he had been healed from the legion.	36 Ceux qui avaient vu ce qui s'était passé leur racontèrent comment il avait été délivré de la légion.
37 And the entire multitude from the region of the Gerasenes pleaded with him to depart from them. For they were seized by a great fear. Then, climbing into the boat, he went back again.	37 Alors tout le peuple du pays des Géraséniens pria Jésus de s'éloigner d'eux, car ils étaient saisis d'une grande crainte. Et lui, montant dans la barque, s'en retourna.
38 And the man from whom the demons had departed pleaded with him, so that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,	38 Et l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis lui demandait de rester avec lui. Mais Jésus le renvoya, en disant :
39 “Return to your house and explain to them what great things God has done for you.” And he traveled through the entire city, preaching about the great things that Jesus had done for him.	39 Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte les grandes choses que Dieu t'a faites. Et il s'en alla par toute la ville, publiant les grandes choses que Jésus lui avait faites.
40 Now it happened that, when Jesus had returned, the crowd received him. For they were all waiting for him.	40 Or il arriva que Jésus, à son retour, fut reçu par la foule : car tous l'attendaient.
41 And behold, a man came, whose name was Jairus, and he was a leader of the synagogue. And he fell down at the feet of Jesus, asking him to enter into his house.	41 Et voici qu'un homme, nommé Jaïre, qui était chef de la synagogue, vint et se jeta aux pieds de Jésus, le suppliant d'entrer dans sa maison,
42 For he had an only daughter, nearly twelve years old, and she was dying. And it happened that, as he was going there, he was hemmed in by the crowd.	42 parce qu'il avait une fille unique, âgée d'environ douze ans, qui se mourait. Et il arriva qu'en y allant il était pressé par la foule.
43 And there was a certain woman, with a flow of blood for twelve years, who had paid out all her substance on physicians, and she was unable to be cured by any of them.	43 Et une femme qui souffrait d'une perte de sang depuis douze ans, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans qu'aucun eût pu la guérir,
44 She approached him from behind, and she touched the hem of his garment. And at once the flow of her blood stopped.	44 s'approcha par derrière, et toucha la frange de son vêtement ; et aussitôt sa perte de sang s'arrêta.
45 And Jesus said, “Who is it that touched me?” But as everyone was denying it, Peter, and those who were with him, said: “Teacher, the crowd hems you in and presses upon you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ”	45 Et Jésus dit : Qui est-ce qui m'a touché ? Mais comme tous s'en défendaient, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui répondirent : Maître, les foules vous pressent et vous accablent, et vous dites : Qui m'a touché ?
46 And Jesus said: “Someone has touched me. For I know that power has gone out from me.”	46 Et Jésus dit : Quelqu'un m'a touché, car j'ai connu qu'une vertu était sortie de moi.
47 Then the woman, upon seeing that she was not hidden, came forward, trembling, and she fell down before his feet. And she declared before all the people the reason that she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.	47 Alors la femme, voyant qu'elle n'avait pu rester cachée, vint toute tremblante, et se jeta à ses pieds ; et elle déclara devant tout le peuple pour quel motif elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie à l'instant.
48 But he said to her: “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”	48 Et Jésus lui dit : Ma fille, ta foi t'a sauvée ; va en paix.
49 While he was still speaking, someone came to the ruler of the synagogue, saying to him: “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble him.”	49 Comme il parlait encore, quelqu'un vint dire au chef de synagogue : Ta fille est morte ; ne l'importune pas.
50 Then Jesus, upon hearing this word, replied to the father of the girl: “Do not be afraid. Only believe, and she will be saved.”	50 Mais Jésus, ayant entendu cette parole, dit au père de la jeune fille : Ne crains pas ; crois seulement, et elle vivra.
51 And when he had arrived at the house, he would not permit anyone to enter with him, except Peter and James and John, and the father and mother of the girl.	51 Et lorsqu'il fut arrivé à la maison, il ne permit à personne d'entrer avec lui, si ce n'est à Pierre, à Jacques et à Jean, et au père et à la mère de la jeune fille.
52 Now all were weeping and mourning for her. But he said: “Do not weep. The girl is not dead, but only sleeping.”	52 Or, tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle. Mais il dit : Ne pleurez pas ; la jeune fille n'est pas morte, mais elle dort.
53 And they derided him, knowing that she had died.	53 Et ils se moquaient de lui, sachant qu'elle était morte.
54 But he, taking her by the hand, cried out, saying, “Little girl, arise.”	54 Mais lui, la prenant par la main, s'écria, en disant : Jeune fille, lève-toi.
55 And her spirit returned, and she immediately rose up. And he ordered them to give her something to eat.	55 Et son esprit revint, et elle se leva aussitôt. Et il ordonna de lui donner à manger.
56 And her parents were stupefied. And he instructed them not to tell anyone what had happened.	56 Ses parents furent remplis d'étonnement ; et il leur commanda de ne dire à personne ce qui était arrivé.
