1 And it happened that, on one of the days when he was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the Gospel, the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, gathered together with the elders,	1 E avvenne, che in un di quei giorni, mentre egli insegnava al popolo nel tempio, ed evangelizzava, si radunarono i principi de' sacerdoti, e gli Scribi con i seniori.
2 and they spoke to him, saying: “Tell us, by what authority do you do these things? Or, who is it that has given you this authority?”	2 E preser a dirgli: Spiegaci, con quale autorità fai tu queste cose: o chi sia, che ha dato a te tale autorità?
3 And in response, Jesus said to them: “I will also question you about one word. Respond to me:	3 Ma Gesù rispose, e disse loro: Vi farò ancor io una interrogazione. Rispondete a me:
4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?”	4 Il battesimo di Giovanni veniva egli dal cielo, o dagli uomini?
5 So they discussed it among themselves, saying: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’	5 Ma essi ruminavano dentro di se, dicendo: Se diciamo, dal cielo, ei risponderà: Perché dunque non avete creduto a lui?
6 But if we say, ‘Of men,’ the whole people will stone us. For they are certain that John was a prophet.”	6 Se poi diremo, dagli uomini, il popolo tutto ci lapiderà: perché è persuaso, che Giovanni era profeta.
7 And so they responded that they did not know where it was from.	7 E risposer, che non sapevano, di dove fosse.
8 And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”	8 E Gesù disse loro: Nemmen io dico a voi, con quale autorità fo queste cose.
9 Then he began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, and he loaned it to settlers, and he was on a sojourn for a long time.	9 E principiò a dire al popolo questa parabola: Un uomo piantò una vigna, e la diede in affitto a vignaiuoli: ed egli stette per molto tempo in lontan paese.
10 And in due time, he sent a servant to the farmers, so that they would give to him from the fruit of the vineyard. And they beat him and drove him away, empty-handed.	10 E a suo tempo mandò un servo a' vignaiuoli, perché gli desser de' frutti della vigna. Ma questi lo batterono, e lo rimandarono con le mani vuote.
11 And he continued to send another servant. But beating him and treating him with contempt, they likewise sent him away, empty-handed.	11 E seguitò a mandare un altra servo. Ma quegli avendo battuto anche questo, e fattagli vergogna, lo rimandorono con le mani vote.
12 And he continued to send a third. And wounding him also, they drove him away.	12 E si rifece da capo a mandare il terzo: ed essi ferirono, e cacciaron via anche questo.
13 Then the lord of the vineyard said: ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Perhaps when they have seen him, they will respect him.’	13 Disse allora il padrone della vigna: Che farò io? Manderò il mio figliuolo diletto: forse quando lo vedranno, gli porteranno rispetto.
14 And when the settlers had seen him, they discussed it among themselves, saying: ‘This one is the heir. Let us kill him, so that the inheritance will be ours.’	14 Ma i vignaiuoli veduto che l'ebbero, la discorsero tra di loro, e disaero: Questo è l'erede, ammazziamolo, perché nostra sia l'eredità.
15 And forcing him outside of the vineyard, they killed him. What, then, will the lord of the vineyard do to them?”	15 E cacciatolo fuora della vigna, lo ammazzarono. Che farà adunque di costro il padrone della vigna?
16 “He will come and destroy those settlers, and he will give the vineyard to others.” And upon hearing this, they said to him, “Let it not be.”	16 Verrà, e sterminerà questi vignaiuoli, e darà la vigna ad altri. La qual cosa quegli avendo udita, dissero: Non sia mai questo.
17 Then, gazing at them, he said: “Then what does this mean, which is written: ‘The stone which the builders have rejected, the same has become the head of the corner?’	17 Egli però miratili fissamente disse: Che è adunque quel, che sta scritto: La pietra rigettata da coloro, che fabbricavano, è divenuta testata dell'angolo?
18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be shattered. And anyone upon whom it falls will be crushed.”	18 Chiunque cadrà sopra tal pietra, si fracasserà: e sopra cui ella cadrà, lo stritolerà.
19 And the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, were seeking to lay hands on him in that same hour, but they feared the people. For they realized that he had spoken this parable about them.	19 E i principi de' sacerdoti, e gli Scribi cercavano di mettergli le mani indosso in quel punto medesimo: ma ebber paura del popolo; imperocché compresero, che questa parabola l'aveva detta per loro.
20 And being attentive, they sent traitors, who would pretend that they were just, so that they might catch him in his words and then hand him over to the power and authority of the procurator.	20 E stando in aguato, mandarono degli emissarj, i quali si fingessero uomini religiosi, per avvilupparlo in discorsi, a fin di metterlo nelle mani del principato, e della podestà, del preside.
21 And they questioned him, saying: “Teacher, we know that you speak and teach correctly, and that you do not consider anyone’s status, but you teach the way of God in truth.	21 Costoro lo interrogarono e dissero: Maestro, noi sappiamo, che tu parli, e insegni dirittamente: e non hai rispetti umani; ma la via di Dio dimostri con verità:
22 Is it lawful for us to pay the tribute to Caesar, or not?”	22 E egli lecito a noi di dare il tributo a Cesare, sì, o no?
23 But realizing their deceitfulness, he said to them: “Why do you test me?	23 Ma Gesù conoscendo la loro furberia, disse loro: Perché mi tentate voi?
24 Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?” In response, they said to him, “Caesar’s.”	24 Fatemi vedere un denaro. Di chi è l'immagine, e l'iscrizione, che questo porta?. Gli risposer: Di Cesare.
25 And so, he said to them: “Then repay the things that are Caesar’s, to Caesar, and the things that are God’s, to God.”	25 Ed ci disse loro: Rendete dunque a Cesare quel, che è di Cesare; e a Dio quel, che è di Dio.
26 And they were not able to contradict his word before the people. And being amazed at his answer, they were silent.	26 E non poterono intaccare le sue parole dinanzi al popolo: e ammirati della sua risposta si tacquero.
27 Now some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, approached him. And they questioned him,	27 E si fecer innanzi alcuni de' Sadducei, i quali negano, che siavi risurrezione, e gli fecero un quesito,
28 saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote for us: If any man’s brother will have died, having a wife, and if he does not have any children, then his brother should take her as his wife, and he should raise up offspring for his brother.	28 Dicendo: Maestro, ha lasciato a noi scritto Mosé, che ove venga a morire ad alcuno un fratello ammogliato, che sia senza figliuoli, il fratello sposi la moglie di lui, e dia discendenza al fratello.
29 And so there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and he died without sons.	29 Egli erano adunque sette fratelli: e il primo prese moglie, e mori senza figliuoli;
30 And the next one married her, and he also died without a son.	30 E il secondo sposò la donna, e mori anch' egli senza figliuoli.
31 And the third married her, and similarly all seven, and none of them left behind any offspring, and they each died.	31 E il terzo la sposò. E il simil fecero tutti gli altri, e non lasciaron figliuoli, e morirono.
32 Last of all, the woman also died.	32 Mori dopo di tutti anche la donna.
33 In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For certainly all seven had her as a wife.”	33 Nella risurrezione adunque chi di essi avralla in moglie? Conciossiaché ella è stata moglie di tutti sette.
34 And so, Jesus said to them: “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage.	34 E Gesù disse loro: Tra i figliuoli di questo secolo vi è moglie, e marito:
35 Yet truly, those who shall be held worthy of that age, and of the resurrection from the dead, will neither be married, nor take wives.	35 Ma coloro, che saran giudicati degni di quell'altro secolo, e di risorger da morte, né si ammogliano, né si maritano:
36 For they can no longer die. For they are equal to the Angels, and they are children of God, since they are children of the resurrection.	36 Conciossiaché non potranno più morire: perché sono simili agli Angeli, e sono figliuoli di Dio, essendo figliuoli della risurrezione.
37 For in truth, the dead do rise again, as Moses also showed beside the bush, when he called the Lord: ‘The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’	37 Che poi siano per risuscitare i morti, dimostrollo anche Mosè presso al roveto, chiamando il Signore il Dio di Abramo, e il Dio di Isacco, e il Dio di Giacobbe.
38 And so he is not the God of the dead, but of the living. For all are alive to him.”	38 Or ei non è il Dio de' morti, ma de' vivi: imperocché per lui tutti sono vivi.
39 Then some of the scribes, in response, said to him, “Teacher, you have spoken well.”	39 E alcuni degli Scribi preser la parola, e gli dissero: Maestro, hai parlato bene.
40 And they no longer dared to question him about anything.	40 E nissuno più ardiva di interrogarlo.
41 But he said to them: “How can they say that the Christ is the son of David?	41 Ma egli disse loro: Come mai dicono, che il Cristo sia figliuolo di David?
42 Even David himself says, in the book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand,	42 E lo stesso Davidde dice nel libro de' Salmi: il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra,
43 until I set your enemies as your footstool.’	43 Sino a tanto che io metta i tuoi nemici quale sgabello a' tuoi piedi.
44 Therefore, David calls him Lord. So how can he be his son?”	44 Davidde adunque lo chiama Signore: e come è egli suo figliuolo?
45 Now in the hearing of all the people, he said to his disciples:	45 E a sentita di tutto il popolo disse a' suoi discepoli:
46 “Be cautious of the scribes, who choose to walk in long robes, and who love greetings in the marketplace, and the first chairs in the synagogues, and the first places at table during feasts,	46 Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali vogliono camminare in lunghe vesti, e amano di essere salutati nel foro, e di avere le prime sedie nelle sinagoghe, e i primi posti ne' conviti:
47 who devour the houses of widows, feigning long prayers. These will receive the greater damnation.”	47 I quali col pretesto di lunghe orazioni divoran le case delle vedove. Costoro incorreranno più rigorosa condanna.
