And as he was departing from the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, observe these fine stones and fine structures.”1 As he was leaving the Temple one of his disciples said to him, 'Master, look at the size of thosestones! Look at the size of those buildings!'
And in response, Jesus said to him: “Do you see all these great buildings? There shall not be left stone upon stone, which is not torn down.”2 And Jesus said to him, 'You see these great buildings? Not a single stone wil be left on another;everything wil be pul ed down.'
And as he sat at the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew questioned him privately.3 And while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrewquestioned him when they were by themselves,
“Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things will begin to be fulfilled?”4 'Tel us, when is this going to happen, and what sign wil there be that it is all about to take place?'
And Jesus, answering, began to say to them: “See to it that no one leads you astray.5 Then Jesus began to tel them, 'Take care that no one deceives you.
For many will come in my name, saying, ‘For I am he,’ and they will lead many astray.6 Many wil come using my name and saying, "I am he," and they wil deceive many.
But when you will have heard of wars and rumors of wars, you should not be afraid. For these things must be, but the end is not so soon.7 When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed; this is something that must happen,but the end wil not be yet.
For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom over kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are but the beginning of the sorrows.8 For nation wil fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There wil be earthquakes in variousplaces; there wil be famines. This is the beginning of the birth-pangs.
But see to yourselves. For they will hand you over to councils, and in the synagogues you will be beaten, and you shall stand before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony for them.9 'Be on your guard: you wil be handed over to sanhedrins; you wil be beaten in synagogues; and you wil be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them,
And the Gospel must first be preached to all nations.10 since the gospel must first be proclaimed to al nations.
And when they have seized you and handed you over, do not consider in advance what to say. But whatever will be given you in that hour, say that. For you will not be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.11 'And when you are taken to be handed over, do not worry beforehand about what to say; no, saywhatever is given to you when the time comes, because it is not you who wil be speaking; it is the Holy Spirit.
Then brother will betray brother to death, and the father, a son; and children will rise up against their parents and will bring about their death.12 Brother wil betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against theirparents and have them put to death.
And you will be hated by all for the sake of my name. But whoever will have persevered unto the end, the same will be saved.13 You wil be universal y hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved.
Then, when you have seen the abomination of desolation, standing where it ought not to be, let the reader understand: then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.14 'When you see the appal ing abomination set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand),then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains;
And let whoever is on the rooftop not descend to the house, nor enter so as to take anything from the house.15 if a man is on the housetop, he must not come down or go inside to col ect anything from his house;
And let whoever may be in the field not return to take his garment.16 if a man is in the fields, he must not turn back to fetch his cloak.
But woe to those who are pregnant or nursing in those days.17 Alas for those with child, or with babies at the breast, when those days come!
Truly, pray that these things may not happen in winter.18 Pray that this may not be in winter.
For those days shall have such tribulations as have not been since the beginning of the creation that God founded, even until now, and shall not be.19 For in those days there will be great distress, unparalleled since God created the world, and such aswil never be again.
And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would be saved. But, for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.20 And if the Lord had not shortened that time, no human being would have survived; but he did shortenthe time, for the sake of the elect whom he chose.
And then, if anyone will have said to you: ‘Behold, here is the Christ. Behold, in that place.’ Do not believe it.21 'And if anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ" or, "Look, he is there," do not believe it;
For false Christs and false prophets will rise up, and they will present signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if it were possible, even the elect.22 for false Christs and false prophets wil arise and produce signs and portents to deceive the elect, ifthat were possible.
Therefore, you must take heed. Behold, I have foretold all to you.23 You, therefore, must be on your guard. I have given you full warning.
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her splendor.24 'But in those days, after that time of distress, the sun wil be darkened, the moon wil not give its light,
And the stars of heaven will be falling down, and the powers that are in heaven will be moved.25 the stars will come falling out of the sky and the powers in the heavens wil be shaken.
And then they shall see the Son of man arriving on the clouds, with great power and glory.26 And then they wil see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
And then he will send his Angels, and gather together his elect, from the four winds, from the limits of the earth, to the limits of heaven.27 And then he wil send the angels to gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the world tothe ends of the sky.
Now from the fig tree discern a parable. When its branch becomes tender and the foliage has been formed, you know that summer is very near.28 'Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you knowthat summer is near.
So also, when you will have seen these things happen, know that it is very near, even at the doors.29 So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, right at the gates.
Amen I say to you, that this lineage shall not pass away, until all these things have happened.30 In truth I tel you, before this generation has passed away al these things will have taken place.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away.31 Sky and earth wil pass away, but my words wil not pass away.
But concerning that day or hour, no one knows, neither the Angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.32 'But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one butthe Father.
Take heed, be vigilant, and pray. For you do not know when the time may be.33 'Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time wil come.
It is like a man who, setting out on a sojourn, left behind his house, and gave his servants authority over every work, and instructed the doorkeeper to stand watch.34 It is like a man travel ing abroad: he has gone from his home, and left his servants in charge, eachwith his own work to do; and he has told the doorkeeper to stay awake.
Therefore, be vigilant, for you do not know when the lord of the house may arrive: in the evening, or in the middle of the night, or at first light, or in the morning.35 So stay awake, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming, evening,midnight, cockcrow or dawn;
Otherwise, when he will have arrived unexpectedly, he may find you sleeping.36 if he comes unexpectedly, he must not find you asleep.
But what I say to you, I say to all: Be vigilant.”37 And what I am saying to you I say to al : Stay awake!'
