1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, wail on my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land be stirred up. For the day of the Lord is on its way; for it is near:	1 Tocai a trombeta em Sião, soltai gritos sobre o meu santo monte! Estremeçam todos os habitantes da terra, porque se aproxima o dia do Senhor, está perto,
2 a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and whirlwinds. Like the morning reaching over the mountains, they are a numerous and strong people. Nothing like them has existed since the beginning, nor will exist after them, even in the years of generation upon generation.	2 Dia de trevas e de escuridão, dia de nublados e de sombras! Como a luz da aurora se espalha sobre os montes, assim um povo numeroso e possante (se difundirá por toda a vossa terra de Israel), semelhante ao qual não houve desde o princípio, nem depois haverá outro no decorrer dos séculos.
3 Before their face is a devouring fire, and behind them is a burning flame. The land before them is like a lush garden, and behind them is a desolate desert, and there is no one who can escape them.	3 Diante dele (virá) um fogo devorador, e atrás uma chama abrasadora; a terra que, antes dele (chegar), era um jardim de Eden, depois dele ficará sendo a desolação dum deserto, sem haver nada que Ihe escape.
4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, and they will rush forward like horsemen.	4 O seu aspecto é como o aspecto de cavalos; avançam como corcéis.
5 Like the sound of a four-horse chariot, they will leap over the tops of the mountains. Like the sound of a burning flame devouring stubble, they are as a strong people prepared for battle.	5 (O seu ruído é) como o estrondo de carros a saltar sobre os cumes dos montes, como o crepitar da chama que queima a palha seca; dir-se-ia uma multidão de gente armada para o combate.
6 Before their face, the people will be tortured; each one’s appearance will retreat, as if into a jar.	6 A sua vista ficam atormentados os povos; todos os rostos empalidecem,
7 They will rush forward, as if they were strong. Like valiant warriors, they will ascend the wall. The men will advance, each one on his own way, and they will not turn aside from their path.	7 Correm como valentes, escalam as muralhas como homens de guerra; cada um segue a sua via, sem confusão de caminhos.
8 And each one will not hem in his brother; every one will walk in his own rough path. Moreover, they will drop through the breach and not be harmed.	8 Não se embaraçam uns aos outros, cada um marcha no seu lugar; ainda mesmo quando atingidos por golpes, não cessam de avançar.
9 They will advance into the city; they will rush through the wall. They will scale the houses; they will go in through the windows, like a thief.	9 Entram nas cidades, correm por cima dos muros, sobem às casas, entram pelas janelas como um ladrão.
10 Before their face, the earth has trembled, the heavens have been moved. The sun and moon have been obscured, and the stars have retracted their splendor.	10 A terra treme diante deles, os céus se abalam, o sol e a lua se escurecem, as estrelas retiram o seu resplendor.
11 And the Lord has bestowed his voice before the face of his army. For its military camps are very numerous; for they are strong and they carry out his word. For the day of the Lord is great and so very terrible, and who can withstand it?	11 Porque o Senhor faz ouvir a sua voz ante a face do seu exército; são inúmeros e fortes os seus batalhões, poderoso o executor da sua palavra. O dia do Senhor é grande e sobremaneira terrível. Quem o poderá suportar?
12 Now, therefore, the Lord says: “Be converted to me with your whole heart, in fasting and weeping and mourning.”	12 Mas agora ainda, diz o Senhor, convertei-vos a mim de todo o vosso coração, com jejuns, com lágrimas e com gemidos.
13 And rend your hearts, and not your garments, and convert to the Lord your God. For he is gracious and merciful, patient and full of compassion, and steadfast despite ill will.	13 Rasgai os vossos corações, e não as vossas vestes, e (contritos no vosso inferior) convertei-vos ao Senhor vosso Deus, porque ele é benigno e compassivo, paciente e de muita misericórdia. Inclinado a arrepender-se do castigo que inflige.
14 Who knows if he might convert and forgive, and bequeath a blessing after him, a sacrifice and a libation to the Lord your God?	14 Quem sabe se ele quererá voltar atrás, mudando de conselho, e deixar após si alguma bênção, (alguma, coisa de que possais fazer) oferenda e libação ao Senhor vosso Deus?
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call an assembly.	15 Tocai a trombeta em Sião, ordenai um jejum sagrado, convocai uma assembleia,
16 Gather the people, sanctify the church, unite the elders, gather together the little ones and infants at the breast. Let the bridegroom depart from his bed, and the bride from her bridal chamber.	16 fazei vir o povo, determinai uma santa reunião, juntai os velhos, congregai os pequeninos e os meninos de peito; saia o esposo da sua câmara, e a esposa do seu leito.
17 Between the vestibule and the altar, the priests, the ministers of the Lord, will weep, and they will say: “Spare, O Lord, spare your people. And do not bequeath your inheritance into disgrace, so that the nations would rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’ ”	17 Chorem os sacerdotes, ministros do Senhor, postos entre o pórtico e o altar, e digam; Perdoa, Senhor, ao teu povo, e não deixes cair a tua herança em opróbrio, de sorte que as nações a escarneçam. Porque os povos diriam; Onde está o seu Deus?
18 The Lord has been zealous for his land, and he has spared his people.	18 O Senhor, tomado de zelo pela sua terra, perdoou ao seu povo.
19 And the Lord responded, and he said to his people: “Behold, I will send you grain and wine and oil, and you will again be filled with them. And I will no longer give you disgrace among the Gentiles.	19 O Senhor, respondendo, disse ao seu povo; Vou enviar-vos trigo, vinho novo e azeite, e ficareis saciados destes géneros; não vos entregarei mais ao insulto das nações.
20 And he who is from the North, I will drive far from you. And I will expel him into an impassable land, and into the desert, with his face opposite the Eastern sea, and his furthest part towards the furthest sea. And his stench will ascend, and his rottenness will ascend, because he has acted arrogantly.	20 Afastarei de vós aquele (inimigo) que vem da parte do Aquilão, e lançá-lo-ei para uma terra árida e deserta; a sua vanguarda para a banda do mar oriental, e a sua rectaguarda para o mar ocidental; (ali) exalar-se-á um cheiro infecto um cheiro de podridão, porque (o Senhor, castigando) fez grandes coisas.
21 Earth, do not be afraid. Exult and rejoice. For the Lord has great esteem for what he has done.	21 Não temas, terra (de Judá), exulta e alegra-te, porque o Senhor fez grandes coisas (em teu favor).
22 Animals of the countryside, do not be afraid. For the beauty of the wilderness has sprung forth. For the tree has borne its fruit. The fig tree and the vine have bestowed their virtue.	22 Não temais, animais do campo, porque as pastagens do deserto reverdecerão, porque toda a árvore dará o seu fruto, a figueira e a vinha produzirão abundantemente.
23 And you, sons of Zion, exult and rejoice in the Lord your God. For he has given you a teacher of justice, and he will make the early and the late rains descend to you, just as it was in the beginning.	23 Filhos de Sião, exultai e alegrai-vos no Senhor vosso Deus, porque ele vos dará a primeira chuva, mandar-vos-á chuvas copiosas, fará descer sobre vós, como no princípio, chuvas do outono e da primavera.
24 And the threshing floors will be filled with grain, and the presses will overflow with wine and oil.	24 As vossas eiras se encherão de trigo, e os vossos lagares trasbordarão de vinho e de azeite.
25 And I will repay you for the years which the locust, and the beetle, and the mildew, and the caterpillar consumed: my great strength which I sent upon you.	25 Recompensar-vos-ei dos anos, cujos frutos foram devorados pelo gafanhoto, pelo yeleg, pelo hasil e pelo gazam, esse poderoso exército que mandei contra vós.
26 And you will eat with enjoyment, and you will be satisfied, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked miracles with you, and my people will not be confounded forever.	26 Comereis e saciar-vos-eis destes bens, e louvareis o nome do Senhor vosso Deus, que fez em vosso favor maravilhas; e o meu povo jamais tornará a cair na confusão.
27 And you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and I am the Lord your God, and there is no other, and my people will not be confounded forever.	27 Sabereis então que estou no meio de Israel, que sou o Senhor vosso Deus e que não há outro. E o meu povo jamais tornará a cair na confusão.
28 And after this, it will happen that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy; your elders will dream dreams, and your youths will see visions.	28 Depois disto, acontecerá que derramarei o meu espírito sobre toda a carne; os vossos filhos e as vossas filhas profetizarão, os vossos velhos terão (comunicações por melo de) sonhos, e os vossos jovens terão visões.
29 Moreover, in those days I will pour out my spirit upon my servants and handmaids.	29 Derramarei também naqueles dias o meu espírito sobre os escravos e as escravas.
30 And I will grant wonders in the sky and on earth: blood and fire and the vapor of smoke.	30 Farei aparecer prodígios no céu e na terra, sangue, fogo e turbilhões de fumo.
31 The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord shall arrive.	31 O sol converter-se-á em trevas, e a lua em sangue, antes que venha o grande e terrível dia do Senhor.
32 And it will happen that everyone who will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. For on Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and in the remnant whom the Lord will call, there will be salvation, just as the Lord has said.	32 Todo o que invocar o nome do Senhor será salvo, porque um resto escapado se achará, como o Senhor disse, sobre o monte Sião e em Jerusalém; e entre os sobreviventes, estarão os que o Senhor tiver chamado.
