1 And he said to me: “Son of man, eat whatever you will find; eat this scroll, and, going forth, speak to the sons of Israel.”	1 Disse-me: Filho de homem, come tudo o que achares; come esse livro, e depois, vai falar aos filhos de Israel.
2 And I opened my mouth, and he fed me that scroll.	2 Então abri a minha boca, e ele deu-me a comer o livro,
3 And he said to me: “Son of man, your stomach shall eat, and your interior shall be filled with this scroll, which I am giving to you.” And I ate it, and in my mouth it became as sweet as honey.	3 dizendo-me: Filho de homem, alimenta o teu ventre, enche as tuas entranhas deste livro que te dou. Comi-o, e ele na minha boca era doce como mel.
4 And he said to me: “Son of man, go to the house of Israel, and you shall speak my words to them.	4 Então disse-me: Filho de homem, vai à casa de Israel anunciar as minhas palavras,
5 For you will be sent, not to a people of profound words or of an unknown language, but to the house of Israel,	5 Não és enviado a nenhum povo de linguagem obscura, nem de língua bárbara, mas à casa de Israel;
6 and not to many peoples of profound words or of an unknown language, whose words you would not be able to understand. But if you were sent to them, they would listen to you.	6 não a povos numeroso linguagem obscura, de língua bárbara, cujas palavras não poderias entender; se a esses fosses enviado, eles te ouviriam.
7 Yet the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you. For they are not willing to listen to me. Certainly, the entire house of Israel has a brazen forehead and a hardened heart.	7 Mas a casa de Israel não te quer ouvir a ti, porque me não quer ouvir a mim, pois a casa de Israel tem uma fronte obstinada e um coração endurecido.
8 Behold, I have made your face stronger than their faces, and your forehead harder than their foreheads.	8 Porém vou tornar o teu rosto tão duro como o deles, a tua fronte tão dura como a sua.
9 I have made your face like hardened iron and like flint. You should not fear them, and you should not have dread before their face. For they are a provoking house.”	9 Vou tornar o teu rosto (tão duro) como o diamante, mais duro que a pederneira. Não os temas não tenhas medo diante deles, porque é uma casa rebelde.
10 And he said to me: “Son of man, listen with your ears, and take into your heart, all my words, which I am speaking to you.	10 Depois acrescentou: Filho de homem, recebe no teu coração todas as palavras que eu te disser ouve-as com os teus ouvidos,
11 And go forth and enter to those of the transmigration, to the sons of your people. And you shall speak to them. And you shall say to them: ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ Perhaps it may be that they will listen and be quieted.”	11 e vai até junto dos deportados, filhos do teu povo, para lhes falar. Dir-lhes-ás: Assim fala o Senhor Iavé — quer eles escutem, quer não.
12 And the Spirit took me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great commotion, saying, “Blessed is the glory of the Lord from his place,”	12 Então o espírito me tomou, e ouvi atrás de mim um grande ruído tumultuoso (que dizia): Abençoada a glória do Senhor, no lugar da sua morada.
13 and the voice of the wings of the living creatures striking against one another, and the voice of the wheels following the living creatures, and the voice of a great commotion.	13 Ouvi também o ruído das asas dos seres vivos, que batiam uma contra a outra, e o ruído das rodas junto deles, grande ruído tumultuoso.
14 Then the Spirit lifted me and took me away. And I went forth in bitterness, with the indignation of my spirit. For the hand of the Lord was with me, strengthening me.	14 E o espírito levantou-me e levou-me consigo, e eu me fui, com o espírito cheio de amargura e indignação; e a mão do Senhor segurava-me fortemente.
15 And I went to those of the transmigration, to the stockpile of new crops, to those who were living beside the river Chebar. And I sat where they were sitting. And I remained there for seven days, while mourning in their midst.	15 Fui ter com os deportados, a Tel-Abib, onde estavam instalados, junto do rio Cobar, e permaneci estupefacto, durante sete dias, no meio deles.
16 Then, when seven days had passed, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:	16 Passados os sete dias, foi-me dirigida a palavra do Senhor, a qual dizia;
17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. And so, you shall listen to the word from my mouth, and you shall announce it to them from me.	17 Filho de homem, eu dei-te por sentinela à casa de Israel. Quando ouvires da minha boca uma palavra, anunciá-la-ás a eles da minha parte.
18 If, when I say to the impious man, ‘You shall certainly die,’ you do not announce it to him, and you do not speak so that he may turn aside from his impious way and live, then the same impious man will die in his iniquity. But I will attribute his blood to your hand.	18 Se eu disser ao ímpio; Vais morrer e tu lho não anunciares, não lhe falares, para que ele se retire do seu caminho ímpio e viva — este ímpio morrerá na sua iniquidade, mas eu requererei da tua mão o seu sangue (ou perdição).
19 But if you announce it to the impious man, and he is not converted from his impiety and from his impious way, then indeed he will die in his iniquity. But you will have delivered your own soul.	19 Se, porém, avisares o ímpio, e ele se não converter da sua impiedade e do seu mau caminho, morrerá ele por certo na sua iniquidade, mas tu salvar-te-ás.
20 Moreover, if the just man turns aside from his justice and commits iniquity, I will place a stumbling block before him. He shall die, because you have not announced to him. He shall die in his sin, and his justices that he did shall not be remembered. Yet truly, I will attribute his blood to your hand.	20 Do mesmo modo, se o justo deixar a sua justiça e cometer a iniquidade, e se eu puser diante dele um tropeço, ele morrerá; porque tu lho não advertiste, morrerá no seu pecado, apagar-se-á a lembrança de todas as acções de justiça que praticou, mas eu requererei da tua mão o seu sangue.
21 But if you announce to the just man, so that the just man may not sin, and he does not sin, then he shall certainly live, because you have announced to him. And you will have delivered your own soul.”	21 Se, porém, avisares o justo, para que não peque, e ele não pecar, viverá com certeza, porque tu o advertiste, e tu serás salvo.
22 And the hand of the Lord was over me. And he said to me: “Rise up, and go out to the plain, and there I will speak with you.”	22 Ali se fez sentir sobre mim a mão do Senhor, que me disse: Levanta-te, sai ao descampado, e lá falarei contigo.
23 And I rose up, and I went out to the plain. And behold, the glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory that I saw beside the river Chebar. And I fell upon my face.	23 Levantei-me, saí para o descampado, e eis que estava lá a glória do Senhor, como a glória que eu tinha visto junto do rio Cobar. Prostrei-me com o rosto por terra.
24 And the Spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet. And he spoke to me, and he said to me: “Enter and enclose yourself in the midst of your house.	24 Então o espirito entrou em mim e pôs-me de pé; falou-me e disse-me: Vai-te fechar dentro da tua casa.
25 And as for you, son of man, behold: they shall put chains upon you and bind you with them. And you shall not go out from their midst.	25 E tu, ó filho de homem, sabe que eles lançarão cadeias sobre ti, e te ligarão com elas, de sorte que não sairás do meio deles.
26 And I will cause your tongue to adhere to the roof of your mouth. And you will be mute, not like a man who reproaches. For they are a provoking house.	26 E farei que a tua língua se pegue ao teu paladar, de sorte que estejas mudo, incapaz de os repreender porque são uma casa rebelde.
27 But when I will speak to you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them: ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ Whoever is listening, let him hear. And whoever is quieted, let him be quieted. For they are a provoking house.”	27 Mas, depois que eu te tiver falado, abrirei a tua boca e tu lhes dirás: Assim fala o Senhor Deus: Quem quiser ouvir, ouça; quem não quiser ouvir, não ouça, — porque são uma casa rebelde.
