1 ALEPH. O how the gold has become dulled, the finest color has been altered, the stones of the sanctuary have been scattered at the head of every street.	1 Alef A qual modo egli è mutato l'auro, mutato è il colore suo, si sono disperse le pietre del santuario nel capo di tutte le piazze?
2 BETH. The famous sons of Zion, and those clothed with the foremost gold: how they have become like earthen vessels, the work of the hands of a potter.	2 Bet Come sono reputati li (generosi e) incliti figliuoli di Sion, vestiti del primo auro, in vasi di terra, opera della mano del figulo?
3 GHIMEL. Yet even savages expose their breast and give milk to their young. But the daughter of my people is cruel, like the ostrich in the desert.	3 Ghimel Ma le lamie sono scoperte, le mammelle hanno lattato li suoi cagnoli. (Lamie, come dicono le fabule, sono mostri che straziano li fanciulli, ovvero figliuoli, e poscia li restituiscono morti, e hanno la faccia di uomo e il corpo di bestia; e dicesi che sono più crudeli a' loro figliuoli, che tutte l'altre bestie). 4 DALETH. The tongue of the infant adheres to his palate out of thirst. The little ones have asked for bread, and there was no one to break it for them.	4 Dalet Accostossi la lingua del lattante per la sete al suo palato; addomandorono li piccolini il pane, e non v'era cui a loro il rompesse.

6 VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been made greater than the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment, and yet hands did not take captives in her.	6 Vau Fatta è maggiore la iniquità della figliuola del mio populo, del peccato di Sodoma, la quale è sommersa in un momento, e le mani non la pigliorono.
7 ZAIN. 8 HETH. Their face has been blacked more than coals, and they are not recognized in the streets. 9 TETH. It was better for those slain by the sword, than for those put to death by famine. For these waste away, being consumed by the sterility of the land.	9 Tet Fue meglio alli uccisi di coltello, che alli ammazzati per fame; imperò che questi, consumati per la sterilità della terra, putrirono.
10 JOD. The hands of pitiable women have boiled their sons. They became their food in the grief of the daughter of my people.	10 Iod Cossero le mani delle misericordiose femine li suoi figliuoli; si sono fatti a quelle cibo nella contrizione della figliuola del mio populo.
11 CAPH. The Lord has completed his fury; he has poured out the wrath of his indignation. And he has kindled a fire in Zion, and it has devoured its foundations.	11 Caf Compiè il Signore il furore suo, sparse l' ira del suo isdegno; e abbruciò in Sion con il fuoco, e divorò le sua fundamenta.
12 LAMED. The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, did not believe that the adversary and the enemy would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.	12 Lamed Non credettero li re della terra, e li universi abitatori del mondo, imperò che entrava l'oste e l'inimico per le porte di Ierusalem,
13 MEM. It is because of the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the just in her midst.	13 Mem per li peccati delli suoi profeti, e per le iniquità de' suoi sacerdoti, i quali nel suo mezzo sparsero il sangue de' giusti.
14 NUN. They have wandered in the streets like the blind; they have been defiled with blood. And when they were not able, they held their garments.	14 Nun Errorono li ciechi nelle piazze, sonosi maculati con lo sangue; e quando non potevano, tenettero le sue stracciate vestimenta.
15 SAMECH. “Go back, you polluted ones!” they cried out to them. “Go back, go away, do not touch!” Of course, they argued, and being removed, they said among the Gentiles, “He will no longer dwell among them.”	15 Samec Gridorono a loro: partitevi tutti, o corrotti; partitevi, e andate, e non vogliate toccare; hanno fatto contenzione tutti, e commossi dissero: più non giungerà (fra la gente) chi abiti in essi.
16 PHE. The face of the Lord has divided them. He will no longer respect them. 18 SADE. Our footsteps have slipped on the paths of our own streets. Our end draws near. Our days have been completed, for our end has arrived.	18 Sade Le nostre strade si sono fatte lasse nel cammino delle nostre piazze; èssi appressato il fine nostro; finiti sono li nostri giorni, imperò ch' egli è venuto il nostro fine.
19 COPH. Our persecutors have been swifter than the eagles of the sky. They have been pursuing us above the mountains; they have lain in wait for us in the desert.	19 Cof Sono stati più veloci li nostri persecutori delle aquile del cielo; ci hanno perseguitati sopra li monti; ne hanno poste le insidie nel deserto.
20 RES. The spirit of our mouth, Christ the Lord, has been captured by our sins; to him, we said, “In your shadow, we will live among the Gentiles.”	20 Res Nelli nostri peccati egli è pigliato il Signore Cristo, spirito della nostra bocca, al quale noi dicessimo: viveremo nelle genti nell' ombra tua.
21 SIN. Be glad and rejoice, O daughter of Edom, who dwells in the Land of Uz. The cup will also pass to you; you will be inebriated as well as naked.	21 Sin Godi, e rallègrati, figliuola di Edom, la quale abiti nella terra di Us; a te etiam perverrà il calice; ti inebrierai, e sarai nudata.
22 THAU. Your iniquity has been completed, O daughter of Zion. He will no longer send you away to captivity. He has visited your iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he has uncovered your sins.	22 Tau Finita è la tua iniquità, figliuola di Sion; più non aggiungerà, che ti transmigri; figliuola di Edom, egli visiterà la tua iniquità, discoprirà le tue peccata.
