Leviticus 1

1 Then the Lord called Moses and spoke to him from the tabernacle of the testimony, saying:	1 Le Seigneur appela Moïse, et, lui parlant du tabernacle du témoignage, Il lui dit:
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: The man among you who will offer to the Lord a sacrifice from the cattle, that is, an offering of victims of oxen or sheep:	2 Vous parlerez aux enfants d'Israël, et vous leur direz: Lorsque quelqu'un d'entre vous offrira au Seigneur une hostie de bêtes à quatre pieds, c'est-à-dire de gros et de petit bétail; lors, dis-Je, qu'il offrira ces victimes,
3 if his offering will be a holocaust, as well as from the herd, he shall offer an immaculate male at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, to make himself pleasing to the Lord.	3 Si son oblation est un holocauste, et si elle est de gros bétail, il prendra un mâle sans tache et l'offrira à la porte du tabernacle du témoignage, pour se rendre le Seigneur favorable.
4 And he shall place his hand on the head of the sacrifice, and so it shall be acceptable and effective, in its expiation.	4 Il mettra la main sur la tête de la victime, et elle sera reçue de Dieu et lui servira d'expiation.
5 And he shall immolate the calf in the sight of the Lord. And the priests, the sons of Aaron, shall offer its blood, pouring it all around the altar, which is before the door of the tabernacle.	5 Il immolera le veau devant le Seigneur, et les prêtres, enfants d'Aaron, en offriront le sang, en le répandant autour de l'autel qui est devant la porte du tabernacle.
6 And having pulled away the skin of the victim, they shall cut up the joints into pieces,	6 Ils enlèveront la peau de la victime, et ils en couperont les membres par morceaux.
7 and they shall toss fire under the altar, having arranged beforehand a stack of wood.	7 Ils mettront le feu sous l'autel, après avoir auparavant préparé le bois.
8 And they shall lay the parts which are cut up in order upon it: namely, the head, and all the things that adjoin to the liver,	8 Ils arrangeront dessus les membres qui auront été coupés; savoir: la tête et tout ce qui tient au foie,
9 the intestines and feet having been washed with water. And the priest shall burn them on the altar as a holocaust and as a sweet odor to the Lord.	9 Les intestins et les pieds, lavés auparavant dans l'eau; et le prêtre les brûlera sur l'autel pour être au Seigneur un holocauste d'agréable odeur.
10 But if the offering is from the flocks, a holocaust either of sheep or goats, he shall offer a male without blemish.	10 Que si l'offrande est de petit bétail, c'est-à-dire si c'est un holocauste de brebis ou de chèvres, celui qui l'offre choisira un mâle sans tache,
11 And he shall immolate it at the side of the altar which looks out toward the north, in the sight of the Lord. Yet truly, the sons of Aaron shall pour its blood upon the altar all around.	11 Et il l'immolera devant le Seigneur, au côté de l'autel qui regarde l'aquilon; et les enfants d'Aaron en répandront le sang sur I'autel, tout autour.
12 And they shall divide the limbs, the head, and everything that adjoins to the liver. And they shall place them on the wood, under which the fire is to be thrown.	12 Ils en couperont les membres, la tête et tout ce qui tient au foie, qu'ils arrangeront sur le bois au-dessous duquel ils doivent mettre le feu.
13 Yet truly, the intestines and the feet they shall wash with water. And the priest, having offered everything, shall burn it upon the altar as a holocaust and as a most sweet odor to the Lord.	13 Ils laveront dans l'eau les intestins et les pieds, et le prêtre brûlera le tout sur l'autel après l'avoir offert, pour être au Seigneur un holocauste de très agréable odeur.
14 But if the oblation of a holocaust to the Lord is of birds, either of turtledoves, or young pigeons,	14 Si l'on offre en holocauste au Seigneur des oiseaux, savoir: des tourterelles ou des petits de colombe,
15 the priest shall offer it at the altar: and twisting back the neck with the head, and also rupturing the place of the wound, he shall make the blood run down over the edge of the altar.	15 Le prêtre offrira la victime à l'autel; et lui tournant avec violence la tête en arrière sur le cou, il lui fera une plaie, par laquelle il fera couler le sang sur le bord de l'autel.
16 Yet truly, the craw of the throat and the feathers he shall cast near the altar at the eastern section, in the place where the ashes are usually poured out.	16 Il jettera la petite vessie du gosier et les plumes auprès de l'autel, du côté de l'orient, au lieu où l'on a coutume de jeter les cendres.
17 And he shall break its wing joints, but he shall neither cut, nor divide it with metal, and he shall burn it upon the altar, placing fire under the wood. It is a holocaust and an oblation of a most sweet odor to the Lord.	17 Il lui rompra les ailes sans les couper, et sans diviser la victime avec le fer, et il la brûlera sur l'autel après avoir mis le feu sous le bois. C'est un holocauste offert au Seigneur, et une oblation d'une très agréable odeur.
