Isaiah 25

1 O Lord, you are my God! I will exalt you, and I will confess your name. For you have accomplished miracles. Your plan, from antiquity, is faithful. Amen.	1 Signore, tu sei il mio Dio; voglio esaltarti e lodare il tuo nome, perché hai eseguito progetti meravigliosi, concepiti da lungo tempo, fedeli e veri.
2 For you have appointed a city as a tomb, a strong city for ruination, a house of foreigners: so that it may not be a city, and so that it may not be rebuilt forever.	2 Poiché hai ridotto la città ad un mucchio di sassi, la cittadella fortificata ad una rovina, la fortezza dei superbi non è più città, non si ricostruirà mai più.
3 Concerning this, a strong people will praise you; a city with a robust people will fear you.	3 Per questo ti glorifica un popolo forte, la città di genti possenti ti venera.
4 For you have been the strength of the poor, the strength of the indigent in his tribulation, a refuge from the whirlwind, a shadow from the heat. For the spirit of the mighty is like a whirlwind striking against a wall.	4 Perché tu sei sostegno al misero, sostegno al povero nella sua angoscia, riparo dalla tempesta, ombra contro il caldo; poiché lo sbuffare dei tiranni è come pioggia d'inverno,
5 You will bring low the uprising of foreigners, just as heat brings thirst. And like heat under a torrential cloud, you will cause the offshoot of the strong to wither away.	5 come arsura in terra arida il clamore dei superbi. Tu mitighi l'arsura con l'ombra d'una nube, l'inno dei tiranni si spegne.
6 And the Lord of hosts will cause all the peoples on this mountain to feast on fatness, to feast on wine, a fatness full of marrow, a purified wine.	6 Preparerà il Signore degli eserciti per tutti i popoli, su questo monte, un banchetto di grasse vivande, un banchetto di vini eccellenti, di cibi succulenti, di vini raffinati.
7 And he will cast down violently, on this mountain, the face of the chains, with which all peoples had been bound, and the net, with which all nations had been covered.	7 Egli strapperà su questo monte il velo che copriva la faccia di tutti i popoli e la coltre che copriva tutte le genti.
8 He will violently cast down death forever. And the Lord God will take away the tears from every face, and he will take away the disgrace of his people from the entire earth. For the Lord has spoken it.	8 Eliminerà la morte per sempre; il Signore Dio asciugherà le lacrime su ogni volto; la condizione disonorevole del suo popolo farà scomparire da tutto il paese, poiché il Signore ha parlato.
9 And they will say in that day: “Behold, this is our God! We have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the Lord! We have endured for him. We will exult and rejoice in his salvation.”	9 E si dirà in quel giorno: "Ecco il nostro Dio; in lui abbiamo sperato perché ci salvasse; questi è il Signore in cui abbiamo sperato; rallegriamoci, esultiamo per la sua salvezza.
10 For the hand of the Lord will rest upon this mountain. And Moab will be trampled under him, just as stubble is worn away by a wagon.	10 Poiché la mano del Signore si poserà su questo monte". Moab invece sarà calpestato al suolo, come si pesta la paglia nella concimaia.
11 And he will extend his hands under him, like a swimmer extending his hands to swim. And he will bring down his glory with a clap of his hands.	11 Là esso stenderà le mani, come le distende il nuotatore per nuotare; ma il Signore abbasserà la sua superbia, nonostante l'annaspare delle sue mani.
12 And the fortifications of your sublime walls will fall, and be brought low, and be torn down to the ground, even to the dust.	12 L'eccelsa fortezza delle tue mura egli abbatterà e demolirà, la raderà al suolo.
