1 In the year in which Tharthan entered into Ashdod, when Sargon, the king of the Assyrians, had sent him, and when he had fought against Ashdod and had captured it,	1 L'année où le général en chef envoyé par Sargon, roi d'Assur, vint à Ashdod pour l'attaquer et s'enemparer,
2 in that same time, the Lord spoke by the hand of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saying: “Go forth, and remove the sackcloth from your waist, and take your shoes from your feet.” And he did so, going out naked and barefoot.	2 en ce temps-là, Yahvé parla par le ministère d'Isaïe fils d'Amoç; il dit: "Va, dénoue le sac que tu assur les reins, et ôte les sandales de tes pieds." Et il fit ainsi, allant nu et déchaussé.
3 And the Lord said: Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot, as a sign and as a portent of three years over Egypt and over Ethiopia,	3 Et Yahvé dit: "De même que mon serviteur Isaïe a marché nu et déchaussé pendant trois ans, pourêtre un signe et un présage contre l'Egypte et contre Kush,
4 so also will the king of the Assyrians force the captivity of Egypt, and the transmigration of Ethiopia: young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.	4 de même le roi d'Assur emmènera les captifs d'Egypte et les déportés de Kush, les jeunes et les vieux,nus, déchaussés et fesses découvertes, à la honte de l'Egypte.
5 And they will be afraid and confounded over Ethiopia, their hope, and Egypt, their glory.	5 Ils seront pris d'épouvante et de honte à cause de Kush leur espérance et de l'Egypte leur fierté.
6 And in that day, the inhabitants of a certain island will say: “Behold, this was our hope, we fled to them for help, to free us from the face of the king of the Assyrians. And now, how will we be able to escape?”	6 Et l'habitant de ce rivage dira en ce jour-là: "Voici ce qu'est devenue notre espérance, ceux vers quinous avons fui pour chercher un secours, pour échapper au roi d'Assur. Et nous, comment nous sauverons-nous?"
