Isaiah 18

1 Woe to the land, that winged cymbal, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia,	1 Ha du Land des Flügelgeschwirrs jenseits der Ströme von Äthiopien,
2 which sends ambassadors by sea and in vessels of papyrus above the waters. Go forth, O swift Angels, to a nation which has been convulsed and torn apart, to a terrible people, after whom there is no other, to a nation apprehensive and downtrodden, whose land the rivers have spoiled.	2 das da Boten entsandt hat auf dem Strome (= Nil) und in Rohrkähnen über den Wasserspiegel: geht heim, ihr flinken Boten, zu eurem hochgewachsenen und blanken Volke, zu der Völkerschaft, die, seit sie besteht, (oder: weit und breit) gefürchtet ist, zu der Völkerschaft, die gewaltige Kraft besitzt und alles niedertritt, deren Land Ströme durchschneiden.
3 All inhabitants of the world, you who dwell upon the earth: when the sign will have been elevated on the mountains, you will see, and you will hear the blast of the trumpet.	3 Ihr Bewohner des Erdkreises allesamt und ihr Insassen der Erde: Sobald man ein Panier (5,26) auf den Bergen aufpflanzt, so sehet hin! Und sobald man in die Trompete stößt, so horchet auf!
4 For the Lord says this to me: I will be quiet, and I will consider in my place, as the light at midday is clear, and as a cloud of dew in the day of the harvest.	4 Denn so hat der HERR zu mir gesprochen: »Ruhig will ich warten und zuschauen an meiner Stätte (= auf meinem Thronsitz), wie wolkenlose Hitze bei Sonnenschein, wie Taugewölk in der Ernteglut.«
5 For before the harvest, all was flourishing. And it will spring forth with an untimely completion, and its little branches will be pruned with a curved blade. And what is left over will be cut away and shaken off.	5 Denn vor der Ernte, sobald die Blüte vorüber ist und der Beerenbüschel zur reifenden Traube wird (= sich gestaltet), da schneidet er (oder: man) die Ranken mit Winzermessern ab und entfernt die Triebe, haut sie ab.
6 And together they will be abandoned to the birds of the mountains and to the wild beasts of the earth. And the birds will be continuously on them in the summer, and all the wild beasts of the earth will winter over them.	6 Sie werden dann allesamt den Raubvögeln der Berge und dem Getier des Landes (oder: der Erde) überlassen, so daß die Raubvögel während des Sommers darauf verbleiben und alles Getier des Landes den Winter hindurch darauf zubringt.
7 In that time, a gift will be carried to the Lord of hosts, from a people divided and torn apart, from a terrible people, after whom there has been no other, from an apprehensive nation, apprehensive and downtrodden, whose land the rivers have ruined, and it will be carried to the place of the name of the Lord of hosts, to mount Zion.	7 Zu jener Zeit werden dem HERRN der Heerscharen Weihgeschenke dargebracht werden von dem hochgewachsenen und blanken Volk, von dem Volk, das, seit es besteht, (oder: weit und breit) gefürchtet ist, von der Völkerschaft, die gewaltige Kraft besitzt und alles niedertritt, deren Land Ströme durchschneiden, – hin zu der Stätte, wo der Name des HERRN der Heerscharen wohnt, zum Berge Zion.
