Isaiah 16

1 O Lord, send forth the Lamb, the Ruler of the earth, from the Rock of the desert to the mountain of the daughter of Zion.	1 - Mandate l'agnello del dominatore del paese, da Petra del deserto al monte della figlia di Sion.
2 And this shall be: like a bird fleeing away, and like fledglings flying from the nest, so will the daughters of Moab be at the passage of Arnon.	2 Prima che avvenga alle figlie di Moab di trovarsi, come uccelli fuggitivi e come pulcini sbattuti fuori dal nido, ai passi dell'Arnon.
3 Form a plan. Call a council. Let your shadow be as if it were night, even at midday. Conceal the fugitives, and do not betray the wanderers.	3 «Prendi un provvedimento, accordaci un soccorso, stendi la tua ombra protettrice, come notte in pien meriggio, nascondi i fuggitivi, i dispersi non tradirli,
4 My fugitives will live with you. Become a hiding place, O Moab, from the face of the destroyer. For the dust is at its end; the miserable one has been consumed. He who trampled the earth has failed.	4 restino presso di te i miei profughi, sii per Moab il loro nascondiglio contro il devastatore». Infatti il turbinar [della guerra] è cessato, quel miserabile è perito, e colui che conculcava la terra disparve.
5 And a throne will be prepared in mercy, and One shall sit upon it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, judging and seeking judgment, and quickly repaying what is just.	5 E il trono preparato nella misericordia resterà, e sederà su di esso infallibilmente, nel tabernacolo di David, chi giudica, chi ricerca l'equità e chi è pronto a rendere giustizia.
6 We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud. His pride and his arrogance and his indignation is more than his strength.	6 Abbiamo invece udita la superbia di Moab, egli è grandemente superbo; ma la sua superbia e la sua arroganza sdegnosa è maggiore della sua forza.
7 For this reason, Moab will wail to Moab; each one will wail. Speak of their wounds to those who rejoice upon the brick walls.	7 Perciò Moab urlerà di contro a Moab, vi sarà un urlo universale: a coloro che si compiacciono delle mura di mattoni cotti annunziate le loro sventure.
8 For the suburbs of Heshbon are deserted, and the lords of the Gentiles have cut down the vineyard of Sibmah. Its vines have arrived even at Jazer. They have wandered in the desert. Its seedlings have been abandoned. They have crossed over the sea.	8 Giacchè i sobborghi di Hesebon sono deserti, i signori delle nazioni hanno tagliata la vigna di Sabama, i cui tralci si erano distesi fino a Jazer, ed erano scorsi nel deserto, e abbandonate le loro propaggini, avevano passato il mare.
9 I will weep with the tears of Jazer over this, the vineyard of Sibmah. I will inebriate you with my tears, Heshbon and Elealeh! For the sound of those who trample has rushed over your vintage and over your harvest.	9 Per questo piangerò al pianto di Jazer, piangerò la vigna di Sabama; ti irrigherò colle mie lacrime, o Hesebon, o Eleale; perchè sopra alla tua vendemmia e alla tua mèsse è piombato il grido dei pigiatori.
10 And so, rejoicing and exultation will be taken away from Carmel, and there will be no jubilation or exultation in the vineyards. He who was accustomed to tread will not tread out the wine in the winepress. I have taken away the sound of those who tread.	10 Sarà tolta al Carmelo la gioia e la letizia, e nelle vigne chi soleva pigiar l'uve, non farà più allegria nè festa, nè vino più dallo strettoio spremerà: colui che soleva spremerlo ha fatto cessare la gioia clamorosa dei vendemmiatori.
11 Over this, my heart will resonate like a harp for Moab, and my inner most being for the brick wall.	11 Per questo le mie viscere, come un'arpa, singhiozzano su Moab e le mie interiora pel muro di mattoni cotti.
12 And this shall be: when it is seen that Moab has struggled upon his high places, he will enter his holy places to pray, but he will not prevail.	12 E avverrà che Moab quando vedrà d'essersi affaticata invano sulle alture dei suoi idoli, entrerà nel suo tempio per pregare, e non potrà ottener nulla.
13 This is the word that the Lord has spoken to Moab concerning that time.	13 Quest'è la parola che il Signore ha detto a Moab già da tempo,
14 And now the Lord has spoken, saying: In three years, like the years of a hired hand, the glory of Moab concerning the entire multitude of the people will be taken away, and what is left behind will be small and weak and not so numerous.	14 ed ora il Signore ha parlato dicendo: «In tre anni, quanto gli anni d'un mercenario, sarà tolta la gloria di Moab vantatrice di tutto il suo gran popolo, e resterà piccolo ed esiguo e nient'affatto numeroso».
