Sirach 15

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Whoever fears God will do good. And whoever holds to justice will obtain it.	1 Aquele que teme a Deus praticará o bem. Aquele que exerce a justiça possuirá a sabedoria.
2 And like an honorable mother, she will meet him, and like a virgin bride, she will receive him.	2 Ela virá ao seu encontro como mãe cumulada de honrarias, e o receberá como uma esposa virgem;
3 She will feed him with the bread of life and understanding. And she give him to drink from the water of salvific wisdom. And she will be confirmed in him, and he will not waver.	3 alimentá-lo-á com o pão da vida e da inteligência, e o saciará com a água salutar da sabedoria. Ela se fortalecerá nele e o tornará inabalável,
4 And she will hold to him, and he will not be confounded. And she will exalt him, along with those closest to him.	4 ela o sustentará para que não seja confundido, e o exaltará entre os seus próximos.
5 And in the midst of the Church, she will open his mouth, and she will fill him with the spirit of wisdom and understanding, and she will clothe him with a robe of glory.	5 Abrir-lhe-á a boca no meio da assembléia, enchê-lo-á do espírito de sabedoria e de inteligência, e o revestirá com um manto glorioso.
6 She will store up in him a treasure of rejoicing and exultation, and she will cause him to inherit an everlasting name.	6 Acumulará sobre ele um tesouro de alegria e de júbilo, e lhe dará por herança um nome eterno.
7 But foolish men will not take hold of her. And though understanding men will meet her, foolish men will not catch sight of her. For she is far from arrogance and deceit.	7 Os homens insensatos não a alcançarão, mas os homens de bom senso irão ao encontro dela; os insensatos não a verão, porque ela está longe do orgulho e da fraude.
8 Lying men will be wary of her. But men who speak the truth will be found with her, and they will have success, even when examined by God.	8 Os mentirosos dela não se recordarão, mas os homens sinceros achar-se-ão com ela, e prosperarão até a visita de Deus.
9 Praise is not beautiful in the mouth of a sinner.	9 O louvor não é belo na boca do pecador,
10 For wisdom was sent from God. And praise will stand before the wisdom of God, and praise will abound in the mouths of the faithful, and the sovereign Lord will give praise to wisdom.	10 porque a sabedoria vem de Deus; o louvor a Deus acompanha a sabedoria, enche a boca fiel, e lhe é inspirada pelo Dominador.
11 You should not say: “It is because of God that wisdom is absent.” For you should not do what he detests.	11 Não digas: É por causa de Deus que ela me falta. Pois cabe a ti não fazer o que ele abomina.
12 You should not say: “He has led me astray.” For the impious are of no use to him.	12 Não digas: Foi ele que me transviou, pois que Deus não necessita dos pecadores.
13 The Lord hates all abominable error, and those who fear him will not love such things.	13 O Senhor detesta todo o erro e toda a abominação; aqueles que o temem não amam essas coisas.
14 God established man from the beginning, and he left him in the hand of his own counsel.	14 No princípio Deus criou o homem, e o entregou ao seu próprio juízo;
15 He added his commandments and precepts.	15 deu-lhe ainda os mandamentos e os preceitos.
16 If you choose to keep the commandments, and if, having chosen them, you fulfill them with perpetual fidelity, they will preserve you.	16 Se quiseres guardar os mandamentos, e praticar sempre fielmente o que é agradável (a Deus), eles te guardarão.
17 He has set water and fire before you. Extend your hand to whichever one you would choose.	17 Ele pôs diante de ti a água e o fogo: estende a mão para aquilo que desejares.
18 Before man is life and death, good and evil. Whichever one he chooses will be given to him.	18 A vida e a morte, o bem e o mal estão diante do homem; o que ele escolher, isso lhe será dado,
19 For the wisdom of God is manifold. And he is strong in power, seeing all things without ceasing.	19 porque é grande a sabedoria de Deus. Forte e poderoso, ele vê sem cessar todos os homens.
20 The eyes of the Lord are upon those who fear him, and he knows each one of the works of man.	20 Os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os que o temem, e ele conhece todo o comportamento dos homens.
21 He has commanded no one to act impiously, and he has given no one permission to sin.	21 Ele não deu ordem a ninguém para fazer o mal, e a ninguém deu licença para pecar;
22 For he does not desire a multitude of unfaithful and useless sons.	22 pois não deseja uma multidão de filhos infiéis e inúteis.
