1 A deceitful scale is an abomination with the Lord, and a fair weighing is his will.1 Δολια πλαστιγξ βδελυγμα εις τον Κυριον? δικαιον δε ζυγιον ευαρεστησις αυτου.
2 Wherever arrogance may be, there too is insult. But wherever humility is, there too is wisdom.2 Οπου εισελθη υπερηφανια, εισερχεται και καταισχυνη? η δε σοφια ειναι μετα των ταπεινων.
3 The simplicity of the just shall direct them, and the rebellion of the perverse will devastate them.3 Η ακεραιοτης των ευθεων θελει οδηγει αυτους? η δε υπουλοτης των σκολιων θελει απολεσει αυτους.
4 Wealth will not profit in the day of vengeance. But justice shall liberate from death.4 Τα πλουτη δεν ωφελουσιν εν ημερα οργης? η δε δικαιοσυνη ελευθερονει εκ θανατου.
5 The justice of the simple shall direct his way. And the impious will fall in his impiety.5 Η δικαιοσυνη του ακεραιου θελει ορθοτομησει την οδον αυτου? ο δε ασεβης θελει πεσει δια της ασεβειας αυτου.
6 The justice of the upright shall free them. And the iniquitous will be seized by their own treachery.6 Η δικαιοσυνη των ευθεων θελει ελευθερωσει αυτους? οι δε παραβαται θελουσι συλληφθη εν τη κακια αυτων.
7 When the impious man is dead, there will no longer be any hope. And the expectation of the anxious will perish.7 Οταν ο ασεβης ανθρωπος αποθνησκη, η ελπις αυτου απολλυται? απολλυται και η προσδοκια των ανομων.
8 The just one is freed from anguish. And the impious one will be handed over instead of him.8 Ο δικαιος ελευθερονεται εκ της θλιψεως, αντ' αυτου δε εισερχεται ο ασεβης.
9 The pretender deceives his friend by mouth. But the just shall be freed by knowledge.9 Ο υποκριτης δια του στοματος αφανιζει τον πλησιον αυτου? αλλ' οι δικαιοι θελουσιν ελευθερωθη δια της γνωσεως.
10 In the good of the just, the city shall exult. And in the perdition of the impious, there shall be praise.10 Εις την ευοδωσιν των δικαιων η πολις ευφραινεται? και εις τον ολεθρον των ασεβων αγαλλεται.
11 By the blessing of the just, the city shall be exalted. And by the mouth of the impious, it will be subverted.11 Δια της ευλογιας των ευθεων υψονεται πολις? δια του στοματος δε των ασεβων καταστρεφεται.
12 Whoever despises his friend is destitute in heart. But the prudent man will remain silent.12 Ο ενδεης φρενων περιφρονει τον πλησιον αυτου? ο δε φρονιμος ανθρωπος σιωπα.
13 Whoever walks dishonestly reveals secrets. But whoever is of a faithful soul conceals what is confided by a friend.13 Ο σπερμολογος περιερχεται αποκαλυπτων τα μυστικα? ο δε την ψυχην πιστος κρυπτει το πραγμα.
14 Where there is no governor, the people shall fall. But where there is much counsel, well-being shall be.14 Οπου δεν ειναι κυβερνησις, ο λαος πιπτει? εκ του πληθους δε των συμβουλων προερχεται σωτηρια.
15 He will be afflicted with evil, who provides a guarantee for an outsider. But whoever is wary of traps shall be secure.15 Οστις εγγυαται δι' αλλον, θελει παθει κακον? και οστις μισει την εγγυησιν, ειναι ασφαλης.
16 A gracious woman shall discover glory. And the robust will have wealth.16 Η ευκοσμος γυνη απολαμβανει τιμην? οι δε καρτερικοι απολαμβανουσι πλουτη.
17 A merciful man benefits his own soul. But whoever is cruel casts out even his close relatives.17 Ο ελεημων ανθρωπος αγαθοποιει την ψυχην αυτου? ο δε ανελεημων θλιβει την σαρκα αυτου.
18 The impious does work with inconstancy. But for the sower of justice, there is the reward of faithfulness.18 Ο ασεβης εργαζεται εργον ψευδες? εις δε τον σπειροντα δικαιοσυνην θελει εισθαι μισθος ασφαλης.
19 Clemency prepares life. And the pursuit of evils prepares death.19 Καθως η δικαιοσυνη τεινει εις ζωην, ουτως ο κυνηγων το κακον τρεχει εις τον θανατον αυτου.
20 A depraved heart is abominable to the Lord. And his will is with those who walk in simplicity.20 Οι διεστραμμενοι την καρδιαν ειναι βδελυγμα εις τον Κυριον? αλλ' οι αμεμπτοι την οδον ειναι δεκτοι εις αυτον.
21 Hand in hand, the evil shall not be innocent. But the offspring of the just shall be saved.21 Και χειρ με χειρα εαν συναπτηται, ο ασεβης δεν θελει μενει ατιμωρητος? το δε σπερμα των δικαιων θελει ελευθερωθη.
22 A beautiful and senseless woman is like a gold ring in the snout of a swine.22 Ως ερρινον χρυσουν εις χοιρου μυτην, ουτω γυνη ωραια χωρις φρονησεως.
23 The desire of the just is entirely good. The anticipation of the impious is fury.23 Η επιθυμια των δικαιων ειναι μονον το καλον? η προσδοκια δε των ασεβων οργη.
24 Some distribute their own goods, and they become wealthier. Others seize what is not their own, and they are always in need.24 Οι μεν σκορπιζουσι, και ομως περισσευονται? οι δε παρα το δεον φειδονται, και ομως ερχονται εις ενδειαν.
25 The soul that blesses shall be made fat. And whoever inebriates will likewise be inebriated himself.25 Η αγαθοποιος ψυχη θελει παχυνθη? και οστις ποτιζει, θελει ποτισθη και αυτος.
26 Whoever hides away grain shall be cursed among the people. But a blessing is upon the head of those who sell it.26 Οστις κρατει σιτον, θελει εισθαι λαοκαταρατος? ευλογια δε θελει εισθαι επι την κεφαλην του πωλουντος.
27 He does well to rise early, who seeks what is good. But whoever is a seeker of evils shall be oppressed by them.27 Οστις προθυμειται εις το καλον, θελει απολαυσει χαριν? αλλ' οστις ζητει το κακον, θελει επελθει επ' αυτον.
28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall. But the just shall spring up like a green leaf.28 Οστις ελπιζει επι τον πλουτον αυτου, ουτος θελει πεσει? οι δε δικαιοι ως βλαστος θελουσιν ανθησει.
29 Whoever troubles his own house will possess the winds. And whoever is foolish will serve the wise.29 Οστις ταραττει τον οικον αυτου, θελει κληρονομησει ανεμον? και ο αφρων θελει εισθαι δουλος εις τον φρονιμον.
30 The fruit of the just one is the tree of life. And whoever receives souls is wise.30 Ο καρπος του δικαιου ειναι δενδρον ζωης? και οστις κερδιζει ψυχας, ειναι σοφος.
31 If the just are repaid upon the earth, how much more the impious and the sinner!31 Αν ο δικαιος παιδευηται επι της γης, πολλω μαλλον ο ασεβης και ο αμαρτωλος.
