1 Job also added to this, using figures of speech, and he said:1 Job pris encore la parole sous une forme sentencieuse, et il dit:
2 As God lives, who has taken away my judgment, and the Almighty, who has led my soul to bitterness,2 Par le Dieu vivant qui refuse de me faire justice, et par le Tout-Puissant qui a rempli mon âme d'amertume,
3 as long as my breath remains in me and the breath of God remains in my nostrils,3 tant que j'aurai ma respiration et que le souffle de Dieu sera dans mes narines,
4 my lips will not speak iniquity, nor will my tongue devise lies.4 mes lèvres ne prononceront rien d'unjuste, et ma langue ne dira rien de faux.
5 Far be it from me that I should judge you to be right, for, until I expire, I will not withdraw from my innocence.5 Loin de moi la pensée de vous croire équitables; tant que je vivrai, je ne me désisterai pas de mon innocence.
6 I will not forsake my justification, which I have just begun to grasp, for my heart does not find blame for me in my whole life.6 Je n'abandonnerai pas la justification que j'ai commencé de produire; car mon coeur ne me reproche rien dans toute ma vie.
7 Let the impious be as my enemy, and the sinful, as my adversary.7 Que mon ennemi soit regardé comme un impie; et celui qui me combat, comme un homme injuste.
8 For what hope is there for the hypocrite, if he greedily plunders and God does not free his soul?8 Car quelle est l'espérance de l'hypocrite, s'il vole par avarice, et que Dieu ne délivre point son âme?
9 Will God pay attention to his cry, when anguish overcomes him?9 Dieu entendra-t-Il ses cris, lorsque l'affliction viendra sur lui?
10 Or will he take delight in the Almighty and call upon God at all times?10 Ou pourra-t-il faire du Tout-Puissant ses délces, et invoquer Dieu en tout temps?
11 I will teach you through the hand of God, what the Almighty holds, and I will not conceal it.11 Je vous enseignerai avec le secours de Dieu; je ne vous cacherai point les desseins du Tout-Puissant.
12 Behold, you know all this, and so why do you speak vain things without a reason?12 Mais vous le savez déjà tous; pourquoi donc vous répandre inutilement en de vains discours?
13 This is the portion of the impious man with God, and the inheritance of the violent, which they will receive from the Almighty.13 Voici le sort que Dieu réserve à l'homme impie, et l'héritage que les violents recevront du Tout-Puissant.
14 If his sons should happen to increase, they will be for the sword, and his grandsons will not be satisfied with bread.14 S'il a des fils en grand nombre, ils passeront par le glaive, et ses petits-enfants ne seront point rassasiés de pain.
15 Whatever will remain of him will be buried in the ruins, and his widows will not weep.15 Ceux qui resteront de sa race seront ensevelis dans leur ruine, et ses veuves ne le pleureront point.
16 If he will amass silver as if it were dirt and fabricate garments as if they were clay,16 S'il amoncelle l'argent comme de la terre, s'il amasse des vêtements comme de la boue,
17 then yes, he will gather, but the just will be clothed with it and the innocent will divide the silver.17 il est vrai qu'il les aura amassés; mais le juste s'en revêtira, et l'innocent partagera son argent.
18 He has built his house like a moth, and he has made a makeshift shelter like a sentry.18 Ce qu'il a bâti sera comme la maison de la teigne, et comme la cabane d'un gardien.
19 When he falls asleep, the rich man will leave him with nothing; he will open his eyes and find nothing.19 Lorsque le riche s'endormira, il n'emportera rien avec lui; il ouvrira les yeux, et il ne trouvera rien.
20 Destitution will surround him like water; a storm will overwhelm him in the night.20 L'indigence le surprendra comme une inondation; la tempête l'emportera pendant la nuit.
21 A burning wind will pick him up and carry him away, and, like a whirlwind, it will rush him from his place.21 Un vent brûlant le saisira et l'emportera, et l'enlèvera de sa place comme un tourbillon.
22 And it will hurl over him and will not spare him; fleeing from its power, he will go into exile.22 Dieu enverra sur lui plaie sur plaie, et ne l'épargnera point; et il s'efforcera d'échapper à Sa main.
