1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 O Senhor falou a Moisés, dizendo:
2 “Sanctify to me every firstborn which opens the womb among the sons of Israel, as much of men as of cattle. For they are all mine.”	2 Consagra-me todo o primogênito, todo o primogênito de entre os filhos de Israel, tanto dos homens como dos animais, porque todos são meus.
3 And Moses said to the people: “Remember this day, on which you were taken away from Egypt and from the house of servitude. For with a strong hand the Lord has led you away from this place. Thus, you shall eat no leavened bread.	3 Moisés disse ao povo: Lembrai-vos deste dia em que saístes do Egipto e da casa da escravidão, porque foi o Senhor quem vos tirou desde lugar com mão forte. Não comereis pão fermentado.
4 Today, you go forth in the month of new grain.	4 Vós sais hoje no mês dos trigos novos.
5 And when the Lord has brought you into the land of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which he swore to your fathers that he would give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you will celebrate this manner of sacred rites in this month.	5 Quando o Senhor te tiver introduzido na terra do Cananeu, do Heteu, do Amorreu, do Heveu e do Jebuseu, que ele jurou dar a teus pais, terra onde corre o leite e o mel, celebrarás este rito sagrado neste mês.
6 For seven days, you shall feed on unleavened bread. And on the seventh day, it will be the solemnity of the Lord.	6 Comerás ázimos durante sete dias, e, no sétimo dia, haverá uma festa solene (em honra) do Senhor.
7 You shall consume unleavened bread for seven days. There shall not be seen anything leavened with you, nor in all your parts.	7 Comereis ázimos durante sete dias; não haverá em vossas casas coisa alguma fermentada, nem em todos os teus territórios.
8 And you will explain to your son in that day, saying: ‘This is what the Lord did for me when I was taken away from Egypt.’	8 Então dirás a teu filho: Isto é em memória do que o Senhor fez por mim, quando saí do Egipto.
9 And it will be like a sign in your hand and like a memorial before your eyes. And so may the law of the Lord be always in your mouth. For with a strong hand, the Lord led you away from the land of Egypt.	9 Isto será como um sinal na tua mão, e como um memorial diante dos teus olhos, a fim de que a lei do Senhor ande sempre na tua boca, pois que o Senhor te tirou do Egipto com mão forte.
10 You will keep this observance, at the established time, from day to day.	10 Observarás este culto todos os anos no tempo fixado.
11 And when the Lord has brought you into the land of the Canaanite, just as he swore to you and to your fathers, and when he will give it you,	11 Quando o Senhor te tiver introduzido na terra do Cananeu, como ele jurou a ti e a teus pais, e ta tiver dado,
12 then you shall set aside for the Lord all that opens the womb and all that is first to go forth among your cattle. Whatever you will have of the male sex, you shall consecrate to the Lord.	12 separarás para o Senhor todo o primogênito, mesmo o primogênito dos teus gados, e consagrarás ao Senhor tudo o que tiveres do sexo masculino.
13 The firstborn of a donkey you will exchange for a sheep. And if you will not redeem it, you shall put it to death. But every firstborn of man among your sons, you shall redeem with a price.	13 Trocarás o primogênito do jumento por uma ovelha; se, porém, o não resgatares, mata-lo-ás. Mas resgatarás com dinheiro todo o primogênito de teus filhos.
14 And when your son will question you tomorrow, saying, ‘What is this?’ you will respond, ‘With a strong hand the Lord led us away from the land of Egypt, from the house of servitude.	14 E, quando teu filho te interrogar um dia: Que é isto? responder-lhe-ás: O Senhor tirou-nos do Egipto, da casa da escravidão, com mão forte.
15 For when Pharaoh had been hardened and was unwilling to release us, the Lord killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of man, even to the firstborn of beasts. For this reason, I immolate to the Lord all of the male sex that opens the womb, and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’	15 Visto que Faraó, tendo-se obstinado, não quis deixar-nos partir, o Senhor matou todos os primogênitos na terra do Egipto, desde o primogênito do homem até ao primogênito dos animais: por isso eu sacrifico ao Senhor todos os machos primogênitos (dos animais), e resgato todos os primogênitos de meus filhos.
16 Therefore, it will be like a sign in your hand and like something hanging between your eyes as a remembrance, because with a strong hand the Lord has led us away from Egypt.”	16 Isto, pois, será como um sinal na tua mão, e como uma coisa pendente ante os teus olhos para lembrança, porque o Senhor nos tirou do Egipto com mão forte.
17 And so, when Pharaoh had sent the people away, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, which is nearby, considering that perhaps they might relapse, if they saw wars rise up against them, and then they might return to Egypt.	17 Ora, quando Faraó deixou partir o povo, Deus não os conduziu pelo caminho do país dos Filisteus, que é (mais) vizinho, julgando que o povo talvez se arrependesse, se visse levantarem-se guerras contra ele, e retrocedesse para o Egipto.
18 But he led them around by the way of the desert, which is next to the Red Sea. And so the sons of Israel ascended, armed, out of the land of Egypt.	18 Fê-los dar uma volta pelo caminho do deserto, até junto do Mar Vermelho. Os filhos de Israel saíram em boa ordem do Egipto.
19 Also, Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, because he had sworn to the sons of Israel, saying: “God will visit you. Carry my bones away from here with you.”	19 Moisés levou consigo os ossos de José, por este ter feito jurar aos filhos de Israel que, quando Deus os visitasse, levassem com eles os seus ossos para longe.
20 And setting out from Soccoth, they encamped at Etham, in the most distant parts of the wilderness.	20 Tendo saído de Socoth, acamparam em Etam, na extrenidade do deserto.
21 Now the Lord preceded them to show them the way, by day with a pillar of cloud, and by night with a pillar of fire, so that he might be the leader of their journey at both times.	21 O Senhor ia adiante deles, de dia numa coluna de nuvem para lhes mostrar o caminho, e de noite numa coluna de fogo para os alumiar, a fim de poderem caminhar num e noutro tempo.
22 These never failed: a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night, in the sight of the people.	22 Nunca se retirou de diante do povo a coluna de nuvem durante o dia, nem a coluna de fogo durante a noite.
