1 And the Lord said to Moses: “I will touch Pharaoh and Egypt with one more plague, and after these things he will release you, and he will compel you to go out.	1 Jahvè disse a Mosè: «Farò venire ancora una piaga, una sola, sul Faraone e sull’Egitto. Dopo di ciò vi lascerà partire di qui; anzi, quando vi lascerà partire, vi caccerà del tutto di qui.
2 Therefore, you will tell all the people to ask, a man of his friend, and a woman of her neighbor, for vessels of silver and of gold.	2 Di’ al popolo che ogni uomo chieda al suo vicino e ogni donna alla sua vicina suppellettili d’argento e d’oro».
3 Then the Lord will grant favor to his people in the sight of the Egyptians.” And Moses was a very great man in the land of Egypt, in the sight of the servants of Pharaoh and of all the people.	3 Jahvè concesse al popolo il favore agli occhi degli Egiziani. Anche Mosè era un grandissimo personaggio in Egitto agli occhi dei servitori del Faraone e del popolo.
4 And he said: “Thus says the Lord: ‘In the middle of the night I will enter into Egypt.	4 Parlò allora Mosè: «Così dice Jahvè: “Verso la mezzanotte io attraverserò l’Egitto”.
5 And every firstborn in the land of the Egyptians shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the handmaid, who is at the millstone, and all the firstborn of the beasts of burden.	5 Nella terra d’Egitto moriranno allora tutti i primogeniti: dal primogenito del Faraone, che dovrebbe sedere sul suo trono, al primogenito della schiava che è dietro le mole, e anche ogni primogenito del bestiame.
6 And there will be a great outcry throughout the entire land of Egypt, such as has not been before, nor ever will be afterward.	6 Vi saranno allora in tutta la terra d’Egitto grandi grida d’aiuto quali non vi furono mai né mai più vi saranno.
7 But among all the sons of Israel there shall not be even a mutter from a dog, from man, even to cattle, so that you may know how miraculously the Lord divides the Egyptians from Israel.’	7 Ma non un cane muoverà la lingua contro tutti i figli di Israele: né contro gli uomini né contro le bestie. Così conoscerete la distinzione che Jahvè fa tra gli Egiziani e i figli di Israele.
8 And all these, your servants, shall descend to me and shall reverence me, by saying: ‘Depart, you and all the people who are subject to you.’ After these things, we will depart.”	8 Tutti questi tuoi servitori si recheranno da me e si prostreranno a me dicendo: “Vattene tu e tutto il popolo che ti segue. Dopo ciò, io me ne andrò”». È, acceso d’ira, si allontanò dal Faraone.
9 And he went out from Pharaoh exceedingly angry. Then the Lord said to Moses: “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that many signs may be accomplished in the land of Egypt.”	9 Jahvè disse a Mosè: «Il Faraone non vi ascolterà, affinché io possa moltiplicare i miei prodigi nella terra d’Egitto».
10 Now Moses and Aaron did all the wonders that are written, in the sight of Pharaoh. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh; neither did he release the sons of Israel from his land.	10 Mosè e Aronne compirono tutti questi prodigi alla presenza del Faraone. Ma Jahvè rese ostinato il cuore del Faraone, in modo che questi non permise che i figli di Israele partissero dalla sua terra.
