1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz, the son of Josiah, and they appointed him king in place of his father, in Jerusalem.	1 Então o povo da terra tomou Joacaz, filho de Josias, e constituiu-o rei de Jerusalém, em lugar de seu pai.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for three months in Jerusalem.	2 Joacaz tinha vinte e três anos, quando começou a reinar, e reinou em Jerusalém três meses,
3 Then the king of Egypt, when he had arrived in Jerusalem, removed him, and condemned the land to one hundred talents of silver and one talent of gold.	3 porque o rei do Egito, tendo ido a Jerusalém, o depôs, condenando o país à contribuição de cem talentos de prata e de um talento de ouro.
4 And he appointed Eliakim, his brother, as king in his place, over Judah and Jerusalem. And he changed his name to Jehoiakim. Truly, he took Jehoahaz with him, and he led him away to Egypt.	4 Em lugar de Joacaz constituiu Eliaquim, seu irmão, rei sobre Judá e sobre Jerusalém, mudando-lhe o nome para Joaquim. Tomou Joacaz e levou-o consigo para o Egito.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did evil before the Lord his God.	5 Joaquim tinha vinte e cinco anos, quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém. Fez o mal diante do Senhor seu Deus.
6 Nebuchadnezzar, the king of the Chaldeans, ascended against him, and led him bound in chains to Babylon.	6 Contra ele marchou Nabucodonosor, rei dos Caldeus, que o prendeu com uma dupla cadeia de bronze e levou para Babilônia.
7 And to there, he also took away the vessels of the Lord, and he placed them in his temple.	7 Transportou também para esta cidade os vasos do Senhor e colocou-os no seu palácio de Babilônia.
8 But the rest of the words of Jehoiakim, and his abominations that he worked, and the things that were found in him, are contained in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. Then his son, Jehoiachin, reigned in his place.	8 O resto das ações de Joaquim, das abominações que cometeu, que foram encontradas nele, estão contidas no livro dos reis de Judá e de Israel. Em seu lugar reinou seu filho Joaquin.
9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for three months and ten days in Jerusalem. And he did evil in the sight of the Lord.	9 Joaquin tinha oito anos, guando começou a reinar, e reinou três meses e dez dias em Jerusalém. Fez o mal na presença do Senhor.
10 And when the course of a year had turned, king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, carrying away, at the same time, the most precious vessels of the house of the Lord. Truly, he appointed his uncle, Zedekiah, as king over Judah and Jerusalem.	10 Tendo decorrido o espaço dum ano, o rei Nabucodonosor mandou tropas que o conduziram a Babilônia, levando juntamente os mais preciosos vasos da casa do Senhor. (Em lugar de Joaquin) constituiu rei sobre Judá e sobre Jerusalém a Sedecias, seu tio paterno.
11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he had begun to reign. And he reigned for eleven years in Jerusalem.	11 Sedecias tinha vinte e um anos, quando começou a reinar, e reinou onze anos em Jerusalém.
12 And he did evil in the eyes of the Lord his God. And he did not show remorse before the face of the prophet Jeremiah, who was speaking to him from the mouth of the Lord.	12 Fez o mal diante dos olhos do Senhor seu Deus, e não respeitou a pessoa do profeta Jeremias, que lhe falava da parte do Senhor.
13 Also, he withdrew from king Nebuchadnezzar, who had bound him by an oath to God, and he hardened his own neck and his own heart, so that he did not return to the Lord, the God of Israel.	13 Sublevou-se também contra o rei Nabucodonosor, a quem tinha dado juramento (de fidelidade) em nome de Deus; endureceu a sua cerviz e o seu coração para não se converter ao Senhor Deus de Israel.
14 Then too, all the leaders of the priests, with the people, transgressed iniquitously, in accord with all the abominations of the Gentiles. And they polluted the house of the Lord, which he had sanctified to himself in Jerusalem.	14 Também todos os príncipes dos sacerdotes e o povo se entregaram a todas as abominações dos gentios e profanaram a casa do Senhor, que ele tinha santificado para si em Jerusalém.
15 Then the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent to them, by the hand of his messengers, rising in the night and daily admonishing them. For he was lenient to his people and to his habitation.	15 o Senhor Deus de seus pais dirigia-lhes frequentemente a sua palavra por meio dos seus enviados, admoestando-os constantemente, porque queria perdoar ao seu povo e à sua casa,
16 But they ridiculed the messengers of God, and they gave little weight to his words, and they mocked the prophets, until the fury of the Lord ascended against his people, and there was no remedy.	16 mas eles zombavam dos enviados de Deus, desprezavam as suas palavras, escarneciam dos seus profetas, até que o furor do Senhor se levantou contra o seu povo, e não houve mais remédio.
17 For he led over them the king of the Chaldeans. And he put to death their young men by the sword, in the house of his sanctuary. There was no pity for adolescents, nor virgins, nor the elderly, nor even for the disabled. Instead, he delivered them all into his hands.	17 Então Deus fez vir contra eles o rei dos Caldeus, que degolou seus filhos na casa do seu santuário, não tendo piedade nem do jovem, nem da donzela, nem do velho, nem do decrépito. Deus entregou-lhos todos nas suas mãos.
18 And all the vessels of the house of Lord, as much the greater as the lesser, and the treasures of the temple, and of the king and the rulers, he carried away to Babylon.	18 Nabucodonosor levou para Babilônia todos os vasos da casa do Senhor, tanto os grandes como os pequenos, os tesouros do templo, os do rei e dos príncipes.
19 The enemies set fire to the house of God, and they destroyed the wall of Jerusalem. They burned down all the towers. And whatever was precious, they demolished.	19 Os inimigos incendiaram a casa de Deus, arruinaram os muros de Jerusalém, puseram fogo a todas as torres e destruíram tudo o que havia de precioso.
20 If anyone had escaped from the sword, he was led into Babylon. And he served the king and his sons, until the king of Persia would command,	20 Se alguém tinha escapado da espada, esse, levado a Babilônia, tornou-se escravo do rei e de seus filhos, até que teve início do império o rei dos Persas,
21 and the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah would be fulfilled, and the land would celebrate her Sabbaths. For during all the days of the desolation, she kept a Sabbath, until the seventy years were completed.	21 para se cumprir a palavra do Senhor pronunciada por boca de Jeremias: Até que a terra celebrou os seus sábados - porque, durante todo o tempo da sua desolação, ela esteve num sábado (ou descanso) contínuo, até que se completaram setenta anos.
22 Then, in the first year of Cyrus, the king of the Persians, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the heart of Cyrus, the king of the Persians, who commanded this to be proclaimed throughout his entire kingdom, and also in writing, saying:	22 No primeiro ano de Ciro, rei dos Persas, para se cumprirem as palavras que o Senhor tinha dito por boca de Jeremias, o Senhor tocou o coração de Ciro, rei dos Persas, o qual mandou fazer, por todo o reino, de viva voz e também por escrito, esta proclamação:
23 “Thus says Cyrus, the king of the Persians: The Lord, the God of heaven, has given to me all the kingdoms of the earth. And he has instructed me that I should build for him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judea. Who among you is from his entire people? May the Lord his God be with him, and let him ascend.”	23 Eis o que diz Ciro, rei dos Persas: O Senhor Deus do céu pôs nas minhas mãos todos os reinos da terra, e mandou-me que lhe fizesse uma casa em Jerusalém, que está na Judeia. Quem dentre vós pertence ao seu povo? O Senhor seu Deus seja com ele, e vá (para a sua terra).
