1 Then David took counsel with the tribunes, and the centurions, and all the leaders.	1 Davide tenne consiglio con i capi di migliaia e di centinaia, con tutti i prìncipi.
2 And he said to the entire assembly of Israel: “If it pleases you, and if the words that I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the remainder of our brothers, in all the regions of Israel, and to the priests and Levites who live in the suburbs of the cities, so that they may gather to us.	2 A tutta l'assemblea d'Israele Davide disse: "Se vi sembra bene e se il Signore nostro Dio lo consente, comunichiamo ai nostri fratelli, che sono rimasti in tutte le regioni d'Israele, e con loro anche ai sacerdoti e ai leviti nelle città della loro residenza, di radunarsi presso di noi.
3 And let us bring back the ark of our God to us. For we did not seek it during the days of Saul.”	3 Allora riporteremo l'arca del nostro Dio presso di noi, perché non ce ne siamo curati sin dal tempo di Saul".
4 And the entire multitude responded that it should be done. For the word had pleased all the people.	4 Tutta l'assemblea approvò di fare così, perché la proposta parve giusta agli occhi di tutto il popolo.
5 Therefore, David gathered all of Israel, from Shihor of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, so as to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.	5 Davide convocò tutto Israele da Sicor d'Egitto fino all'ingresso di Amat per riportare l'arca di Dio da Kiriat-Iearìm.
6 And David ascended with all the men of Israel to the hill of Kiriath-jearim, which is in Judah, so that he might bring from there the ark of the Lord God, sitting upon the Cherubim, where his name is invoked.	6 Davide con tutto Israele salì a Baala verso Kiriat-Iearìm che apparteneva a Giuda, per prendere di là l'arca di Dio che portava il nome: "Il Signore che siede sui cherubini".
7 And they placed the ark of God upon a new cart from the house of Abinadab. Then Uzzah and his brother drove the cart.	7 Dalla casa di Abinadàb trasportarono l'arca di Dio su un carro nuovo. Uzza e Achio guidavano il carro.
8 Now David and all of Israel were playing before God, with all of their ability, in songs, and with harps, and psalteries, and timbrels, and cymbals, and trumpets.	8 Davide e tutto Israele danzavano davanti a Dio con tutto l'entusiasmo cantando e suonando cetre, arpe, tamburi, cembali e trombe.
9 And when they had arrived at the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out his hand, so that he might support the ark. For indeed, the ox being wanton had caused it to incline a little.	9 Giunti all'aia di Chidon, Uzza stese la sua mano per trattenere l'arca, perché i buoi l'avevano fatta barcollare.
10 And so the Lord became angry against Uzzah. And he struck him down because he had touched the ark. And he died there before the Lord.	10 Allora l'ira del Signore s'infiammò contro Uzza e lo colpì, perché aveva steso la sua mano sull'arca. Egli morì lì, al cospetto di Dio.
11 And David was greatly saddened because the Lord had divided Uzzah. And he called that place ‘the Division of Uzzah,’ even to the present day.	11 Davide si afflisse perché il Signore si era irritato contro Uzza e chiamò quel luogo Perez-Uzza, fino al giorno d'oggi.
12 And then he feared God, at that time, saying: “How will I be able to bring in the ark of God to myself?”	12 In quel giorno Davide, avendo avuto paura di Dio, esclamò: "Come potrei far condurre presso di me l'arca di Dio?".
13 And for this reason, he did not bring it to himself, that is, into the City of David. Instead, he turned aside to the house of Obededom, the Gittite.	13 Davide non fece trasportare l'arca presso di sé nella Città di Davide, ma la diresse verso la casa di Obed-Edom, di Gat.
14 Therefore, the ark of God dwelt in the house of Obededom for three months. And the Lord blessed his house and all that he had.	14 L'arca di Dio rimase nella casa di Obed-Edom tre mesi. Il Signore benedisse la casa di Obed-Edom e tutto quello che gli apparteneva.
