2 Kings 21

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for fifty-five years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Hephzibah.	1 Manasse war zwölf Jahre alt, als er König wurde. Er regierte fünfundfünfzig Jahre in Jerusalem. Der Name seiner Mutter war Chephzibah.
2 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, in accord with the idols of the nations that the Lord destroyed before the face of the sons of Israel.	2 Er tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel, entsprechend den Greueln der Völker, die der Herr vor den Israeliten vertrieben hatte.
3 And he turned away. And he built up the high places that his father, Hezekiah, had destroyed. And he erected altars to Baal, and he made sacred groves, just as Ahab, the king of Israel, had done. And he adored the entire army of heaven, and he served them.	3 Er ließ die Höhen wieder aufbauen, die sein Vater Hiskia zerstört hatte, errichtete dem Baal Altäre, ließ eine Aschera verfertigen, wie der König Achab von Israel es getan, betete das ganze Heer des Himmels an und diente ihm.
4 And he constructed altars in the house of the Lord, about which the Lord said: “In Jerusalem, I will place my name.”	4 Er ließ solche Altäre im Tempel bauen, von dem der Herr doch gesagt hatte: "In Jerusalem will ich meinen Namen wohnen lassen."
5 And he constructed altars, for the entire army of heaven, within the two courts of the temple of the Lord.	5 Zu Ehren des gesamten Himmelsheeres errichtete er Altäre in den beiden Vorhöfen des Herrentempels.
6 And he led his son through fire. And he used divinations, and observed omens, and appointed soothsayers, and multiplied diviners, so that he did evil before the Lord, and provoked him.	6 Auch ließ er seinen Sohn durch das Feuer gehen, trieb Zauberei und Wahrsagerei, stellte Totenbeschwörer und Zeichendeuter an und tat vieles, was dem Herrn mißfiel, um ihn zu reizen.
7 Also, he set up an idol, of the sacred grove that he had made, in the temple of the Lord, about which the Lord said to David, and to his son Solomon: “In this temple, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will place my name forever.	7 Das Bild der Aschera, das er angefertigt hatte, stellte er in den Tempel, von dem der Herr doch zu David und dessen Sohn Salomo gesagt hatte: "In diesem Tempel und in Jerusalem, das ich aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt habe, will ich meinen Namen wohnen lassen in Ewigkeit!
8 And I will no longer cause the feet of Israel to be moved from the land that I gave to their fathers: if only they will take care to do all that I have instructed them, and the entire law that my servant Moses commanded to them.”	8 Ich werde den Fuß Israels nicht mehr unstet aus dem Lande wegziehen lassen, das ich ihren Vätern gegeben habe, wenn sie nur darauf achten, alles zu tun nach dem gesamten Gesetz, das mein Knecht Moses ihnen verordnet hat."
9 Yet truly, they did not listen. Instead, they were seduced by Manasseh, so that they did evil, more so than the nations that the Lord crushed before the face of the sons of Israel.	9 Doch sie wollten nicht hören, und Manasse verführte sie, noch schlimmere Dinge zu tun als die Völker, die der Herr vor den Israeliten vertrieben hatte.
10 And so the Lord spoke, by the hand of his servants, the prophets, saying:	10 Der Herr aber verkündete durch seine Diener, die Propheten, folgendes:
11 “Since Manasseh, the king of Judah, has committed these wicked abominations, beyond all that the Amorites before him have done, and also has caused Judah to sin by his defilements,	11 "Manasse, der König von Juda, hat Untaten verübt, hat die ganze Bosheit der früheren Amoriter übertroffen und auch Juda mit seinen Götzen zur Sünde verführt.
12 because of this, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Behold, I will lead evils over Jerusalem and over Judah, such that, whoever will hear of these things, both his ears will ring.	12 Darum spricht der Herr, der Gott Israels: "Siehe, ich bringe Unheil über Jerusalem und Juda, daß allen, die davon hören, beide Ohren gellen.
13 And I will extend the measuring line of Samaria over Jerusalem, with the scale of the house of Ahab. And I will erase Jerusalem, just as writing tablets are usually erased. And after erasing, I will turn it and repeatedly drag a stylus over its surface.	13 Ich werde an Jerusalem die Meßschnur Samarias und die Waage des Hauses Achab anlegen und werde Jerusalem fortwischen, wie man eine Schüssel auswischt und dann nach unten kehrt.
14 And truly, I will send away the remnants of my inheritance, and I will deliver them into the hands of their enemies. And they will be devastated and plundered by all their adversaries.	14 Verstoßen will ich den Rest meines Erbbesitzes und der Gewalt seiner Feinde übergeben. So werden sie allen ihren Feinden zum Raub und zur Beute sein.
15 For they have done evil before me, and they have persevered in provoking me, from the day when their fathers departed from Egypt, even to this day.	15 Denn sie taten, was mir mißfallen mußte, und reizten mich von dem Tage an, da ihre Väter aus Ägypten fortzogen, bis heute.""
16 Moreover, Manasseh also has shed an exceedingly great amount of innocent blood, until he filled Jerusalem even to the mouth, aside from his sins by which he caused Judah to sin, so that they did evil before the Lord.”	16 Auch unschuldiges Blut vergoß Manasse in großer Menge und erfüllte damit Jerusalem von einem Ende bis zum andern, abgesehen von der Sünde, daß er Juda zu einem dem Herrn mißfälligen Handeln verführte.
17 Now the rest of the words of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?	17 Die übrigen Taten Manasses, sein Wirken und die Sünden, die er begangen hat, sind aufgeschrieben im Buch der Chronik der Könige von Juda.
18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza. And Amon, his son, reigned in his place.	18 Manasse entschlief zu seinen Vätern und wurde im Garten seines Palastes, im Garten des Ussa, begraben. Sein Sohn Amon folgte ihm in der Königsherrschaft.
19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for two years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz, from Jotbah.	19 Amon war zweiundzwanzig Jahre alt, als er König wurde. Er regierte zwei Jahre in Jerusalem. Der Name seiner Mutter war Meschullemet; sie war die Tochter des Charuz aus Jotba.
20 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, just as his father, Manasseh, had done.	20 Er tat, was dem Herrn mißfiel, wie sein Vater Manasse.
21 And he walked in all the ways in which his father had walked. And he served the unclean things that his father had served, and he adored them.	21 Ganz auf den Pfaden wandelte er, die sein Vater beschritten hatte, diente den gleichen Götzen, die sein Vater verehrt hatte, und betete sie an.
22 And he abandoned the Lord, the God of his fathers, and he did not walk in the way of the Lord.	22 Er verließ den Herrn, den Gott seiner Väter, und wandelte nicht auf dem Weg des Herrn.
23 And his servants undertook treachery against him. And they killed the king in his own house.	23 Gegen ihn stifteten seine eigenen Diener eine Verschwörung an und töteten ihn in seinem Haus.
24 But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against king Amon. And they appointed for themselves Josiah, his son, as king in his place.	24 Die Bürger des Landes aber erschlugen alle, die sich gegen den König verschworen hatten, und riefen seinen Sohn Josia an seiner Stelle zum König aus.
25 But the rest of the words of Amon, which he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?	25 Die übrigen Taten Amons, sein ganzes Wirken, sind aufgeschrieben in der Chronik der Könige von Juda.
26 And they buried him in his sepulcher, in the garden of Uzza. And his son, Josiah, reigned in his place.	26 Man begrub ihn in seiner Grabkammer im Garten des Ussa. Sein Sohn Josia folgte ihm in der Königsherrschaft.
