Revelation 13

1 Then I saw a beast emerge from the sea: it had seven heads and ten horns, with a coronet on each ofits ten horns, and its heads were marked with blasphemous titles.	1 - E vidi una bestia salir su dal mare, che aveva sette teste e dieci corna, e nelle sue corna dieci corone, e sulle sue teste nomi di bestemmia.
2 I saw that the beast was like a leopard, with paws like a bear and a mouth like a lion; the dragon hadhanded over to it his own power and his throne and his immense authority.	2 E la bestia ch'io vidi, era simile a un leopardo, e i suoi piedi come piedi d'orso, e la sua bocca come bocca di leone. E le diede il drago la sua potenza [e il suo trono] e grande autorità.
3 I saw that one of its heads seemed to have had a fatal wound but that this deadly injury had healedand the whole world had marvel ed and fol owed the beast.	3 E una delle sue teste la vidi come ferita a morte: ma la sua piaga mortale fu guarita. E tutta la terra fu rapita d'ammirazione dietro la bestia.
4 They prostrated themselves in front of the dragon because he had given the beast his authority; andthey prostrated themselves in front of the beast, saying, 'Who can compare with the beast? Who can fightagainst it?'	4 E adorarono il drago, perchè aveva dato l'autorità alla bestia, e adorarono la bestia, dicendo: «Chi [è] simile alla bestia? e chi può guerreggiar con essa?».
5 The beast was allowed to mouth its boasts and blasphemies and to be active for forty-two months;	5 E le fu data una bocca che proferiva vanterie e bestemmie, e le fu data facoltà d'agire per quarantadue mesi.
6 and it mouthed its blasphemies against God, against his name, his heavenly Tent and al those whoare sheltered there.	6 E aprì la sua bocca in bestemmie contro Dio, a bestemmiare il suo nome e il suo tabernacolo e quelli attendati nel cielo.
7 It was allowed to make war against the saints and conquer them, and given power over every race,people, language and nation;	7 E le fu dato di far guerra ai santi e vincerli; e le fu data autorità sopra ogni tribù e popolo e lingua e nazione.
8 and al people of the world wil worship it, that is, everybody whose name has not been written downsince the foundation of the world in the sacrificial Lamb's book of life.	8 E l'adorarono tutti gli abitanti della terra, il cui nome non è scritto nel libro di vita dell'agnello sgozzato, fin dalla fondazione del mondo.
9 Let anyone who can hear, listen:	9 Se alcuno ha orecchio, ascolti.
10 Those for captivity to captivity; those for death by the sword to death by the sword. This is why thesaints must have perseverance and faith.	10 Se uno menerà [altri] in prigionia, va a finire in prigionia; se uno uccide con spada, bisogna che sia ucciso di spada. Qui sta la costanza e la fede de' santi.
11 Then I saw a second beast, emerging from the ground; it had two horns like a lamb, but made anoise like a dragon.	11 E vidi un'altra bestia che saliva dalla terra, e aveva due corna simili a [quelle d'un] agnello, e parlava come un drago.
12 This second beast exercised al the power of the first beast, on its behalf making the world and al itspeople worship the first beast, whose deadly injury had healed.	12 E tutto il potere della prima bestia l'esercitava essa al cospetto di quella. E fece che la terra e i suoi abitanti adorassero la prima bestia, di cui era stata guarita la piaga mortale.
13 And it worked great miracles, even to calling down fire from heaven onto the earth while peoplewatched.	13 E fece portenti grandiosi, sì da far scendere anche fuoco dal cielo sulla terra alla presenza degli uomini.
14 Through the miracles which it was al owed to do on behalf of the first beast, it was able to lead astraythe people of the world and persuade them to put up a statue in honour of the beast that had been wounded bythe sword and stil lived.	14 E sedusse gli abitanti della terra con portenti che le fu dato d'operare al cospetto della bestia, dicendo agli abitanti della terra di fare un'effigie alla bestia che ha la piaga della spada e ha ripreso vita.
15 It was al owed to breathe life into this statue, so that the statue of the beast was able to speak, and tohave anyone who refused to worship the statue of the beast put to death.	15 E le fu dato di dar spirito all'effigie della bestia, sì che l'effigie della bestia parlasse, e di far che quanti non avessero adorato l'effigie della bestia fossero uccisi.
16 It compel ed everyone -- smal and great alike, rich and poor, slave and citizen -- to be branded onthe right hand or on the forehead,	16 E farà che tutti, piccoli e grandi, ricchi e poveri, liberi e servi, ricevano un marchio nella loro mano destra o sulla lor fronte,
17 and made it il egal for anyone to buy or sell anything unless he had been branded with the name ofthe beast or with the number of its name.	17 e che nessuno possa comprare o vendere, se non chi ha il marchio, il nome [cioè] della bestia o il numero del suo nome.
18 There is need for shrewdness here: anyone clever may interpret the number of the beast: it is thenumber of a human being, the number 666.	18 Qui sta la sapienza! Chi ha intelligenza, calcoli il numero della bestia: è infatti un numero d'uomo, e il suo numero è seicentosessantasei.
