Zephaniah 2

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Gather together, gather together, nations without shame,	1 ¡Reúnanse, sí, reúnanse, gente sin vergüenza,
2 before you are dispersed like chaff which disappears in a day; before Yahweh's burning angerovertakes you (before the Day of Yahweh's anger overtakes you).	2 antes que sean aventados como la paja que desaparece en un día, antes que llegue sobre ustedes el ardor de la ira del Señor, antes que llegue sobre ustedes el Día de la ira del Señor!
3 Seek Yahweh, al you humble of the earth, who obey his commands. Seek uprightness, seek humility:you may perhaps find shelter on the Day of Yahweh's anger.	3 Busquen al Señor, ustedes, todos los humildes de la tierra, los que ponen en práctica sus decretos. Busquen la justicia, busquen la humildad, tal vez así estarán protegidos en el Día de la ira del Señor.
4 For Gaza wil be abandoned and Ashkelon reduced to ruins; Ashdod wil be driven out in broad daylightand Ekron uprooted.	4 Porque Gaza será abandonada y Ascalón quedará desolada; Asdod será expulsada en pleno día y Ecrón será arrancada de raíz.
5 Disaster to the members of the coastal league, to the nation of the Cherethites! This is the word of Yahweh against you: I shal subdue you, land of the Philistines, I shal destroy you til there are no inhabitantsleft;	5 ¡Ay de los habitantes de la liga del mar, del pueblo de los quereteos! La palabra del Señor está contra ustedes, Canaán, tierra de los filisteos: «¡Yo te haré perecer, hasta dejarte sin habitantes!».
6 and the coastal league wil be reduced to pasture land, to grazing grounds for shepherds and folds forsheep;	6 La liga del mar se convertirá en un pastizal, en campos de pastoreo y en corrales de ovejas.
7 and the league will belong to the remnant of the House of Judah; they will pasture their flocks there, atnight they wil rest in the houses of Ashkelon; for, when Yahweh their God has punished them, he wil restoretheir fortunes.	7 Y la liga pertenecerá al resto del pueblo de Judá: apacentarán sus ganados junto al mar y al caer la tarde, descansarán en las casas de Ascalón; porque el Señor, su Dios, los visitará y cambiará su suerte.
8 I have heard the taunt of Moab and the insults of the Ammonites, as they taunted my people andboasted of their own domains.	8 Yo escuché los insultos de Moab y las injurias de los amonitas, cuando insultaron a mi pueblo y se engrandecieron a costa de su territorio.
9 For this, as I live -- declares Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel -- Moab wil become like Sodom and theAmmonites like Gomorrah: a realm of nettles, a heap of salt, a desolation for ever. What is left of my people willplunder them, the survivors of my nation wil take their heritage.	9 Por eso, juro por mi vida –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel– Moab quedará como Sodoma y los amonitas como Gomorra: un campo de cardos, una mina de sal, una tierra desolada para siempre. El resto de mi pueblo los saqueará, lo que quede de mi nación los heredará.
10 This will be the price of their pride for having taunted and boasted over the people of YahwehSabaoth.	10 Eso es lo que recibirán a cambio de su orgullo, porque han insultado al pueblo del Señor de los ejércitos, y se han engrandecido a costa de él.
11 Yahweh wil be fearsome to them, for he wil scatter al the gods of the earth, and they wil bow downto him, each from his own place -- al the islands of the nations.	11 El Señor se mostrará terrible con ellos, cuando él reduzca a nada a todos los dioses de la tierra y se postren ante él, cada una en su lugar, hasta las naciones de las costas más lejanas.
12 You Ethiopians too wil be run through by my sword.	12 ¡También ustedes, cusitas, serán víctimas de mi espada!...
13 He will raise his hand against the north and bring Assyria down in ruins; he will make Nineveh a waste,as dry as a desert.	13 El extenderá su mano contra el Norte y hará desaparecer a Asiria; convertirá a Nínive en una desolación, en una tierra árida como el desierto.
14 Flocks will rest inside there, so will wild animals; pelican and porcupine wil nest round her cornices atnight; the owl wil hoot at the window and the raven croak on the doorstep -- for the cedar has been torn down.	14 En medio de ella descansarán los rebaños, los animales de toda clase; hasta el pelícano y el erizo pasarán la noche en sus capiteles; el búho gritará en la ventana y el cuervo sobre el umbral, porque el maderaje de cedro ha sido arrancado.
15 This is what the city wil be like, once living happy and carefree and thinking to itself, 'I have no rival --not I!' And what will it be now? A ruin, a lair for wild beasts to rest in, and everyone who passes by wil whistleand throw up his hands.	15 Así quedará la ciudad feliz, la que vivía segura y decía en su corazón: «¡Yo, y nadie más que yo!». ¿Cómo es que se ha convertido en una desolación, en un refugio de animales? Todos los que pasan junto a ella, silban y hacen gestos con la mano.
