Ezekiel 34

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me, dicens :
2 'Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them, "Shepherds, theLord Yahweh says this: Disaster is in store for the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Are not shepherdsmeant to feed a flock?	2 Fili hominis, propheta de pastoribus Israël : propheta, et dices pastoribus : Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Væ pastoribus Israël, qui pascebant semetipsos ! nonne greges a pastoribus pascuntur ?
3 Yet you have fed on milk, you have dressed yourselves in wool, you have sacrificed the fattest sheep,but failed to feed the flock.	3 Lac comedebatis, et lanis operiebamini, et quod crassum erat occidebatis : gregem autem meum non pascebatis.
4 You have failed to make weak sheep strong, or to care for the sick ones, or bandage the injured ones.You have failed to bring back strays or look for the lost. On the contrary, you have ruled them cruel y andharshly.	4 Quod infirmum fuit non consolidastis, et quod ægrotum non sanastis : quod confractum est non alligastis, et quod abjectum est non reduxistis, et quod perierat non quæsistis : sed cum austeritate imperabatis eis, et cum potentia.
5 For lack of a shepherd they have been scattered, to become the prey of al the wild animals; they havebeen scattered.	5 Et dispersæ sunt oves meæ, eo quod non esset pastor : et factæ sunt in devorationem omnium bestiarum agri, et dispersæ sunt.
6 My flock is astray on every mountain and on every high hil ; my flock has been scattered al over theworld; no one bothers about them and no one looks for them.	6 Erraverunt greges mei in cunctis montibus, et in universo colle excelso : et super omnem faciem terræ dispersi sunt greges mei, et non erat qui requireret : non erat, inquam, qui requireret.
7 "Very wel , shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh:	7 Propterea, pastores, audite verbum Domini.
8 As I live, I swear it -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- since my flock has been pil aged and for lack of ashepherd is now the prey of every wild animal, since my shepherds have ceased to bother about my flock, sincemy shepherds feed themselves rather than my flock,	8 Vivo ego, dicit Dominus Deus, quia pro eo quod facti sunt greges mei in rapinam, et oves meæ in devorationem omnium bestiarum agri, eo quod non esset pastor : neque enim quæsierunt pastores mei gregem meum, sed pascebant pastores semetipsos, et greges meos non pascebant :
9 very wel , shepherds, hear the word of Yahweh:	9 propterea, pastores, audite verbum Domini.
10 The Lord Yahweh says this: Look, I am against the shepherds. I shall take my flock out of theircharge and henceforth not al ow them to feed my flock. And the shepherds will stop feeding themselves,because I shal rescue my sheep from their mouths to stop them from being food for them.	10 Hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego ipse super pastores : requiram gregem meum de manu eorum, et cessare faciam eos, ut ultra non pascant gregem, nec pascant amplius pastores semetipsos : et liberabo gregem meum de ore eorum, et non erit ultra eis in escam.
11 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: Look, I myself shal take care of my flock and look after it.	11 Quia hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego ipse requiram oves meas, et visitabo eas.
12 As a shepherd looks after his flock when he is with his scattered sheep, so shal I look after mysheep. I shal rescue them from wherever they have been scattered on the day of clouds and darkness.	12 Sicut visitat pastor gregem suum, in die quando fuerit in medio ovium suarum dissipatarum, sic visitabo oves meas, et liberabo eas de omnibus locis in quibus dispersæ fuerant in die nubis et caliginis.
13 I shal bring them back from the peoples where they are; I shal gather them back from the countriesand bring them back to their own land. I shall pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in althe inhabited parts of the country.	13 Et educam eas de populis, et congregabo eas de terris, et inducam eas in terram suam, et pascam eas in montibus Israël, in rivis, et in cunctis sedibus terræ.
14 I shal feed them in good pasturage; the highest mountains of Israel will be their grazing ground.There they will rest in good grazing grounds; they will browse in rich pastures on the mountains of Israel.	14 In pascuis uberrimis pascam eas, et in montibus excelsis Israël erunt pascua earum : ibi requiescent in herbis virentibus, et in pascuis pinguibus pascentur super montes Israël.
15 I myself shal pasture my sheep, I myself shal give them rest -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	15 Ego pascam oves meas, et ego eas accubare faciam, dicit Dominus Deus.
16 I shal look for the lost one, bring back the stray, bandage the injured and make the sick strong. Ishall watch over the fat and healthy. I shall be a true shepherd to them.	16 Quod perierat requiram, et quod abjectum erat reducam, et quod confractum fuerat alligabo, et quod infirmum fuerat consolidabo, et quod pingue et forte custodiam : et pascam illas in judicio.
17 "As for you, my sheep, the Lord Yahweh says this: I shall judge between sheep and sheep, betweenrams and he-goats.	17 Vos autem, greges mei, hæc dicit Dominus Deus : Ecce ego judico inter pecus et pecus, arietum et hircorum.
18 Not content to drink the clearest of the water, you foul the rest with your feet.	18 Nonne satis vobis erat pascua bona depasci ? insuper et reliquias pascuarum vestrarum conculcastis pedibus vestris : et cum purissimam aquam biberetis, reliquam pedibus vestris turbabatis :
19 And my sheep must graze on what your feet have trampled and drink what your feet have fouled.	19 et oves meæ his quæ conculcata pedibus vestris fuerant, pascebantur : et quæ pedes vestri turbaverant, hæc bibebant.
20 Very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: I myself shall judge between the fat sheep and the thin sheep.	20 Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus ad vos : Ecce ego ipse judico inter pecus pingue et macilentum :
21 Since you have jostled with flank and shoulder and butted al the ailing sheep with your horns, untilyou have scattered them outside,	21 pro eo quod lateribus et humeris impingebatis, et cornibus vestris ventilabatis omnia infirma pecora, donec dispergerentur foras,
22 I shal come and save my sheep and stop them from being victimised. I shal judge between sheepand sheep.	22 salvabo gregem meum, et non erit ultra in rapinam, et judicabo inter pecus et pecus.
23 "I shal raise up one shepherd, my servant David, and put him in charge of them to pasture them; hewil pasture them and be their shepherd.	23 Et suscitabo super eas pastorem unum qui pascat eas, servum meum David : ipse pascet eas, et ipse erit eis in pastorem.
24 I, Yahweh, shal be their God, and my servant David wil be ruler among them. I, Yahweh, havespoken.	24 Ego autem Dominus ero eis in Deum, et servus meus David princeps in medio eorum : ego Dominus locutus sum.
25 I shal make a covenant of peace with them; I shal rid the country of wild animals. They wil be ableto live secure in the desert and go to sleep in the woods.	25 Et faciam cum eis pactum pacis, et cessare faciam bestias pessimas de terra : et qui habitant in deserto, securi dormient in saltibus.
26 I shal settle them round my hil ; I shall send rain at the proper time; it wil be a rain of blessings.	26 Et ponam eos in circuitu collis mei benedictionem, et deducam imbrem in tempore suo : pluviæ benedictionis erunt.
27 The trees of the countryside wil yield their fruit and the soil wil yield its produce; they will be secureon their soil. And they wil know that I am Yahweh when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from theclutches of their slave-masters.	27 Et dabit lignum agri fructum suum, et terra dabit germen suum, et erunt in terra sua absque timore : et scient quia ego Dominus, cum contrivero catenas jugi eorum, et eruero eos de manu imperantium sibi.
28 No more wil they be a prey to the nations, no more wil the wild animals of the country devour them.They wil live secure, with no one to frighten them.	28 Et non erunt ultra in rapinam in gentibus, neque bestiæ terræ devorabunt eos : sed habitabunt confidenter absque ullo terrore.
29 I shal make splendid vegetation grow for them; no more wil they suffer from famine in the country;no more will they have to bear the insults of other nations.	29 Et suscitabo eis germen nominatum, et non erunt ultra imminuti fame in terra, neque portabunt ultra opprobrium gentium.
30 So they wil know that I, their God, am with them and that they, the House of Israel, are my people --declares the Lord Yahweh.	30 Et scient quia ego Dominus Deus eorum cum eis, et ipsi populus meus domus Israël, ait Dominus Deus.
31 And you, my sheep, are the flock of my human pasture, and I am your God -- declares the LordYahweh." '	31 Vos autem, greges mei, greges pascuæ meæ, homines estis : et ego Dominus Deus vester, dicit Dominus Deus.
