Ezekiel 33

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:
2 'Son of man, speak to the people of your country. Say to them, "When I send the sword against thepeople of that country, take one of their number and post him as a watchman;	2 "Figlio dell'uomo, parla ai figli del tuo popolo e di' loro: Se mando la spada contro un paese e il popolo di quella terra prende un uomo del suo territorio e lo pone quale sentinella,
3 if he sees the sword coming against the country, he must sound his horn to warn the people.	3 e questa, vedendo sopraggiungere la spada sul paese, suona la tromba e da' l'allarme al popolo:
4 If someone hears the sound of the horn but pays no attention and the sword overtakes him anddestroys him, he wil have been responsible for his own death.	4 se colui che ben sente il suono della tromba non ci bada e la spada giunge e lo sorprende, egli dovrà a se stesso la propria rovina.
5 He has heard the sound of the horn and paid no attention; his death wil be his own responsibility. But the life of someone who pays attention will be secure.	5 Aveva udito il suono della tromba, ma non ci ha badato: sarà responsabile della sua rovina; se ci avesse badato, si sarebbe salvato.
6 "If, however, the watchman has seen the sword coming but has not blown his horn, and so the peopleare not alerted and the sword overtakes them and destroys a single one of them, that person wil indeed die forhis guilt, but I shal hold the watchman responsible for his death."	6 Se invece la sentinella vede giunger la spada e non suona la tromba e il popolo non è avvertito e la spada giunge e sorprende qualcuno, questi sarà sorpreso per la sua iniquità: ma della sua morte domanderò conto alla sentinella.
7 'Son of man I have appointed you as watchman for the House of Israel. When you hear a word frommy mouth, warn them from me.	7 O figlio dell'uomo, io ti ho costituito sentinella per gli Israeliti; ascolterai una parola dalla mia bocca e tu li avvertirai da parte mia.
8 If I say to someone wicked, "Evil- doer, you are to die," and you do not speak to warn the wickedperson to renounce such ways, the wicked person wil die for this guilt, but I shal hold you responsible for thedeath.	8 Se io dico all'empio: Empio tu morirai, e tu non parli per distoglier l'empio dalla sua condotta, egli, l'empio, morirà per la sua iniquità; ma della sua morte chiederò conto a te.
9 If, however, you do warn someone wicked to renounce such ways and repent, and that person doesnot repent, then the culprit wil die for this guilt, but you yourself wil have saved your life.	9 Ma se tu avrai ammonito l'empio della sua condotta perché si converta ed egli non si converte, egli morirà per la sua iniquità. Tu invece sarai salvo.
10 'Son of man, say to the House of Israel, "You are continual y saying: Our crimes and sins weighheavily on us; we are wasting away because of them. How are we to go on living?"	10 Tu, figlio dell'uomo, annunzia agli Israeliti: Voi dite: I nostri delitti e i nostri peccati sono sopra di noi e in essi noi ci consumiamo! In che modo potremo vivere?
11 Say to them, "As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I do not take pleasure in the death of thewicked but in the conversion of the wicked who changes his ways and saves his life. Repent, turn back from yourevil ways. Why die, House of Israel?"	11 Di' loro: Com'è vero ch'io vivo - oracolo del Signore Dio - io non godo della morte dell'empio, ma che l'empio desista dalla sua condotta e viva. Convertitevi dalla vostra condotta perversa! Perché volete perire, o Israeliti?
12 'Son of man, say to the members of your nation, "The uprightness of an upright person wil not savehim once he takes to wrong-doing; the wickedness of a wicked person wil not ruin him once he renounces hiswickedness. No one upright wil be able to live on the strength of uprightness, having once taken to sinning.	12 Figlio dell'uomo, di' ancora ai figli del tuo popolo: La giustizia del giusto non lo salva se pecca, e l'empio non cade per la sua iniquità se desiste dall'iniquità, come il giusto non potrà vivere per la sua giustizia se pecca.
13 If I say to someone upright: You are to live, and then, trusting in this uprightness, he does wrong,none of the uprightness wil be remembered; because of the wrong-doing, he will die.	13 Se io dico al giusto: Vivrai, ed egli, confidando sulla sua giustizia commette l'iniquità, nessuna delle sue azioni buone sarà più ricordata e morirà nella malvagità che egli ha commesso.
14 If, however, I say to someone wicked: You are to die, and he turns back from sin and does what islawful and upright,	14 Se dico all'empio: Morirai, ed egli desiste dalla sua iniquità e compie ciò che è retto e giusto,
15 if he returns pledges, restores what he has stolen, keeps the laws that give life and no longer doeswrong, he wil live and wil not die.	15 rende il pegno, restituisce ciò che ha rubato, osserva le leggi della vita, senza commettere il male, egli vivrà e non morirà;
16 None of his previous sins wil be remembered against him; having done what is lawful and upright, hewil live.	16 nessuno dei peccati che ha commessi sarà più ricordato: egli ha praticato ciò che è retto e giusto e certamente vivrà.
17 "But the members of your nation say: What the Lord does is unjust. But it is what you do that isunjust.	17 Eppure, i figli del tuo popolo vanno dicendo: Il modo di agire del Signore non è retto. È invece il loro modo di agire che non è retto!
18 When an upright person gives up being upright and does wrong, he dies for it.	18 Se il giusto desiste dalla giustizia e fa il male, per questo certo morirà.
19 And when a wicked person gives up being wicked and does what is lawful and upright, because ofthis he lives.	19 Se l'empio desiste dall'empietà e compie ciò che è retto e giusto, per questo vivrà.
20 But you say: What the Lord does is unjust! I shal judge each of you by what you do, House of Israel."'	20 Voi andate dicendo: Non è retto il modo di agire del Signore. Giudicherò ciascuno di voi secondo il suo modo di agire, Israeliti".
21 In the twelfth year of our captivity, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a fugitive arrived fromJerusalem and said to me, 'The city has been taken.'	21 Il cinque del decimo mese dell'anno decimosecondo della nostra deportazione arrivò da me un fuggiasco da Gerusalemme per dirmi: La città è presa.
22 Now the hand of the Lord had been on me the evening before the fugitive arrived; he had opened mymouth before the fugitive came to me the next morning; my mouth had been opened and I was dumb no longer.	22 La sera prima dell'arrivo del fuggiasco, la mano del Signore fu su di me e al mattino, quando il fuggiasco giunse, il Signore mi aprì la bocca. La mia bocca dunque si aprì e io non fui più muto.
23 The word of Yahweh was then addressed to me as follows,	23 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:
24 'Son of man, the people living in those ruins on the soil of Israel say this, "Abraham was alone whenhe was given possession of this country. But we are many; the country has been given us as our heritage."	24 "Figlio dell'uomo, gli abitanti di quelle rovine, nel paese d'Israele, vanno dicendo: Abramo era uno solo ed ebbe in possesso il paese e noi siamo molti: a noi dunque è stato dato in possesso il paese!
25 'Very wel , tell them, "The Lord Yahweh says this: You eat blood, you raise your eyes to your foulidols, you shed blood; are you to own the country?	25 Perciò dirai loro: Così dice il Signore Dio: Voi mangiate la carne con il sangue, sollevate gli occhi ai vostri idoli, versate il sangue, e vorreste avere in possesso il paese?
26 You rely on your swords, you engage in loathsome practices, each of you defiles his neighbour'swife; are you to own the country?"	26 Voi vi appoggiate sulle vostre spade, compite cose nefande, ognuno di voi disonora la donna del suo prossimo e vorreste avere in possesso il paese?
27 Tel them this, "The Lord Yahweh says this: As I live, I swear it, those in the ruins wil fal to thesword, those in the countryside I shal give to the wild animals for them to eat, and those among the crags and incaves wil die of plague.	27 Annunzierai loro: Dice il Signore Dio: Com'è vero ch'io vivo, quelli che stanno fra le rovine periranno di spada; darò in pasto alle belve quelli che sono per la campagna e quelli che sono nelle fortezze e dentro le caverne moriranno di peste.
28 I shal make the country a desolate waste, and the pride of its strength will be at an end. Themountains of Israel wil be deserted and no one will pass that way again.	28 Ridurrò il paese ad una solitudine e a un deserto e l'orgoglio della sua forza cesserà. I monti d'Israele saranno devastati, non ci passerà più nessuno.
29 Then they wil know that I am Yahweh, when I make the country a desolate waste because of all thefilthy things they have done."	29 Sapranno che io sono il Signore quando farò del loro paese una solitudine e un deserto, a causa di tutti gli abomini che hanno commessi.
30 'Son of man, the members of your nation are talking about you on the ramparts and in doorways.They keep saying to one another, "Come and hear the word that has come from Yahweh."	30 Figlio dell'uomo, i figli del tuo popolo parlano di te lungo le mura e sulle porte delle case e si dicono l'un l'altro: Andiamo a sentire qual è la parola che viene dal Signore.
31 They throng towards you; my people sit down in front of you and listen to your words, but they do notact on them. What they act on is the lie in their mouths, and their hearts are set on dishonest gain.	31 In folla vengono da te, si mettono a sedere davanti a te e ascoltano le tue parole, ma poi non le mettono in pratica, perché si compiacciono di parole, mentre il loro cuore va dietro al guadagno.
32 As far as they are concerned, you are like a love song pleasantly sung to a good musicalaccompaniment. They listen to your words, but no one acts on them.	32 Ecco, tu sei per loro come una canzone d'amore: bella è la voce e piacevole l'accompagnamento musicale. Essi ascoltano le tue parole, ma non le mettono in pratica.
33 When the thing takes place -- and it is beginning now -- they wil know that there has been a prophet among them.'	33 Ma quando ciò avverrà ed ecco avviene, sapranno che c'è un profeta in mezzo a loro".
