Ezekiel 21

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
2 'Son of man, turn to the right; utter your word towards the south, prophesy against the forest land ofthe Negeb.	2 "Figlio dell'uomo, rivolgi la faccia verso il meridione, pronuncia un vaticinio verso l'austro, profetizza sulla foresta del sud.
3 Say to the forest of Negeb, "Hear the word of Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says this: Listen; I am aboutto kindle a fire in you which wil burn up every green tree in you as wel as every dry one; it wil be anunquenchable blaze and every face wil be scorched by it from the Negeb to the north.	3 Dirai alla foresta del sud: Ascolta la parola del Signore: Così dice il Signore Dio: Ora appicco in te un fuoco che ti consumerà ogni legno verde e ogni legno secco; la fiamma ardente non si spegnerà, ogni cosa vi sarà bruciata da sud a nord
4 Al humanity wil see that it was I, Yahweh, who kindled it, and it wil not be extinguished." '	4 e ogni creatura vedrà che io, il Signore, l'ho incendiata: non si spegnerà".
5 I said, 'Lord Yahweh, they say of me, "He does nothing but speak in riddles!"'	5 Allora dissi: "Ahi, Dio, mio Signore! Essi vanno dicendo di me: "Non è forse pieno di favole costui?".
6 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	6 Ma mi giunse la parola del Signore:
7 'Son of man, turn towards Jerusalem, utter your word towards the sanctuary and prophesy against theland of Israel.	7 "Figlio dell'uomo, volgi la faccia verso Gerusalemme, pronuncia un vaticinio contro i suoi santuari, profetizza contro il paese d'Israele.
8 Say to the land of Israel, "Yahweh says this: Now I am against you; I am about to unsheathe my swordand rid you of the upright and the wicked alike.	8 Di' al paese d'Israele: Così dice il Signore: Eccomi contro di te! Estrarrò la mia spada dal fodero e reciderò da te giusti ed empi.
9 Since I am going to rid you of upright and wicked alike, I shal unsheathe my sword against everyonealive, from the Negeb to the north,	9 Perché io recida da te giusti ed empi, deve uscire la mia spada dal fodero contro ogni creatura da sud a nord.
10 so that everyone alive wil know that I, Yahweh, am the one who has unsheathed my sword; it wil notgo back again."	10 Ogni creatura riconoscerà che io, il Signore, ho estratto la mia spada dal fodero e che non vi rientrerà più.
11 'Son of man, groan as though your heart were breaking. Utter your bitter groans where they can seeyou.	11 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, gemi con i lembi disfatti, nell'amarezza gemi al loro cospetto.
12 And if they say, "Why these groans?" reply, "Because of the news which is about to come, all hearts wil sink, al hands grow weak, all spirits grow faint and al knees turn to water. It is coming now, it is here!-declares Lord Yahweh." '	12 Succederà che essi ti domanderanno: "Perché gemi?". E tu dirai: "Per una notizia che è arrivata; ogni cuore è disfatto, le braccia snervate, gli spiriti sono spaventati, le ginocchia si sciolgono". Ecco che è giunta e si avvera. Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".
13 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	13 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
14 'Son of man, prophesy. Say, "The Lord says this. Say: The sword, the sword has been sharpenedand polished,	14 "Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così dice il mio Signore: Una spada, una spada è affilata ed è anche levigata!
15 sharpened for slaughter, polished to flash like lightning . . .	15 Per ammazzare è affilata, perché essa lampeggi è levigata.
16 He has had it polished to be wielded, this sword sharpened and polished to put in the slaughterer'shand!	16 La si fece levigare per prenderla bene in mano; sì, è affilata la spada; sì, è levigata per darla in mano a chi uccide.
17 Shout and wail, son of man, for it wil come on my people, on all the chief men of Israel doomed likemy people to the sword! So beat your breast,	17 Grida, ulula, figlio dell'uomo, perché incombe ormai sul mio popolo e su tutti i prìncipi d'Israele: essi sono in balìa della spada assieme al mio popolo! Perciò battiti il fianco.
18 for this wil be an ordeal . . . declares the Lord Yahweh.	18 E' una prova. E che accadrebbe se ci fosse uno scettro sprezzante? Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.
19 So prophesy, son of man, and clap your hands! Let the sword pass three times, that sword forvictims, that sword for a great victim, threatening them from every side!	19 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e batti le mani, sia raddoppiata la spada e triplicata; è una spada feritrice, grande spada che ferisce, che rotea loro attorno,
20 To make hearts sink and make sure many fall, I have posted the slaughtering sword at every gate toflash like lightning, polished for slaughter.	20 sì da far sussultare il cuore. Si moltiplicano i caduti: a tutte le loro porte ho seminato strage. Ahi, spada fatta per lampeggiare, sfoderata per sgozzare!
21 Be sharp, on the right, be ready on the left, whichever way your blade is needed!	21 Colpisci a destra! Penetra a sinistra! Là dov'è diretta la tua lama.
22 I too shal clap my hands and sate my fury! I, Yahweh, have spoken." '	22 Anch'io batto le mani e sfogherò il mio furore. Io, il Signore, ho parlato".
23 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	23 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
24 'Son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to come along, making both ofthem begin from the same country. Then put up a signpost, put it where the road leaves for the city,	24 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, traccia due strade, per il passaggio della spada del re di Babilonia; partiranno entrambe dal medesimo paese. Poni un'indicazione stradale; disegna un'indicazione al bivio della città.
25 trace the route which the sword should take for Rabbah-of-the-Ammonites, and for Judah, to thefortress of Jerusalem.	25 La strada della spada sia diretta a Rabbà degli Ammoniti e a Giuda, arroccato in Gerusalemme.
26 For the king of Babylon has halted at the fork where these two roads diverge, to take the omens. Hehas shaken the arrows, questioned the household gods, inspected the liver.	26 Infatti il re di Babilonia sta alla biforcazione, al bivio, per avere una divinazione. Ha agitato le frecce, ha interrogato i penati, ha esaminato il fegato.
27 The lot marked 'Jerusalem' is in his right hand: there to set up battering-rams, give the word forslaughter, raise the war cry, level battering-rams against the gates, cast up earthworks, build entrenchments.	27 Nella sua destra è finito il responso "Gerusalemme", e così egli piazza gli arieti, apre la bocca per gridare, fa echeggiare il grido di guerra, piazza gli arieti alle porte, innalza il terrapieno e costruisce la trincea.
28 The inhabitants wil believe that these omens are idle, for they have received sworn guarantees, buthe wil bring their guilt to mind and capture them.	28 Ma per essi ciò sarà una falsa divinazione, così sembrerà loro! Essi che hanno fatto giuramenti! Ma intanto egli è l'accusatore della loro colpa, perché siano presi al laccio!
29 And so the Lord Yahweh says this, "Since you have brought your guilt to mind by parading yourmisdeeds and flaunting your sins in everything you do: because you have drawn attention to yourselves, you willbe captured.	29 Perciò così dice Dio, mio Signore: Poiché accusate da voi stessi le vostre colpe, svelando le vostre ribellioni e mostrando i vostri peccati con tutte le vostre azioni, poiché le accusate voi stessi, sarete presi al laccio.
30 As for you, impious and wicked prince of Israel, whose doom is approaching to put an end to yourcrimes,	30 E quanto a te, contaminato empio principe d'Israele, di cui è arrivato il giorno, ora che la colpa è arrivata alla fine,
31 the Lord Yahweh says this: They will take away your diadem and remove your crown. Everything wilbe changed; the low wil be raised and the high brought low!	31 così dice Dio, mio Signore: Deponi il turbante, lèvati la corona! Tutto sarà trasformato: ciò che è basso sarà elevato e ciò che è alto sarà abbassato.
32 Ruin, ruin, I shal bring such ruin as never was before, until the rightful ruler comes, on whom I shalbestow it."	32 Rovina, rovina, rovina provocherò! Ma questo non accadrà finché venga colui cui tocca il giudizio; è a lui che lo riservo".
33 'Son of man, prophesy and say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: In reply to the Ammonites and theirjeers, say: The sword, the sword is drawn for slaughter, polished to devour, to flash like lightning-	33 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così dice Dio, mio Signore, riguardo ai figli di Ammon e al loro scherno: O spada sguainata per sgozzare, levigata per annientare, per lampeggiare,
34 while you have empty visions and consult lying omens-to cut the throats of the wicked, whose doomis approaching to put an end to their crimes.	34 mentre essi hanno false visioni e fanno divinazioni menzognere su di te, io ti destino alle gole di quegli empi contaminati, di cui è arrivato il giorno, ora che la colpa è arrivata alla fine.
35 Put it back in the scabbard. The place where you were created, the land of your origin, wil be where Ijudge you.	35 Rientra nel fodero. Nel luogo dove fosti creato, nel paese dove sei nato, ti giudicherò.
36 I shal vent my fury on you, breathe the fire of my rage against you and hand you over to barbarousmen whose trade is destruction.	36 Riverserò su di te la mia rabbia, ti soffierò contro il fuoco della mia ira; ti darò in potere di uomini incendiari, artefici di sterminio.
37 You wil be fuel for the fire, your blood wil flow through the country, you wil leave no memory behindyou; for I, Yahweh, have spoken!" '	37 Sarai preda del fuoco; il tuo sangue è sparso per il paese. Non sarai più ricordato. Io, il Signore, ho parlato".
