Jeremiah 43

1 When Jeremiah had finished tel ing all the people al the words of Yahweh their God, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to tel them -- al the words quoted above-	1 E quando Geremia ebbe finito di dire al popolo tutte le parole del Signore Dio loro, le quali parole tutte il Signore Dio loro lo avea mandato a dirle ad essi,
2 Azariah son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and all those arrogant men, said to Jeremiah,'You are lying. Yahweh our God did not send you to say, "Do not go to Egypt and settle there."	2 Disse Azaria figliuolo di Osaia, e Johanan figliuolo di Caree, e tutti gli uomini superbi a Geremia: Tu dici bugia: non ti ha mandato il Signore Dio nostro a dire: Non andate ad abitare in Egitto.
3 It was Baruch son of Neriah, who keeps inciting you against us, to hand us over to the Chaldaeans sothat they can put us to death or deport us to Babylon.'	3 Ma Baruch figliuolo di Neria ti istiga contro di noi, per darci in man de' Caldei, e farci morire, e farci condurre a Babilonia.
4 So neither Johanan nor any of the military leaders nor any of the people obeyed the voice of Yahwehby staying in the country of Judah.	4 E Johanan figliuolo di Caree, e tutti i capi delle milizie, e tutto il popolo non ascoltarono la voce del Signore di dimorar nella terra di Giuda,

7 And so, in disobedience to the voice of Yahweh, they reached Egypt and arrived at Tahpanhes.	7 Se n'andarono nella terra d'Egitto, perchè non ubbidirono alla voce del Signore; e giunsero fino a Taphnis.
8 At Tahpanhes the word of Yahweh was addressed to Jeremiah as fol ows,	8 E il Signore parlò a Geremia in Taphnis, dicendo:
9 'Take some large stones and bury them in the cement on the terrace outside the entrance of Pharaoh'spalace in Tahpanhes, where the Judaeans can see you.	9 Prendi delle grosse pietre colla tua mano, e nascondile nella grotta, che è sotto la muraglia di mattoni alla porta della casa di Faraone, che è in Taphnis, in presenza de' Giudei,
10 Then say to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shal send for my servantNebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he wil place his throne on these stones I have buried, and spread hiscanopy above them.	10 E dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco, che io manderò a chiamare Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia mio servo; e porrò il trono di lui sopra queste pietre, che io ho nascoste, e sopra queste alzerà il suo soglio,
11 When he comes, he wil defeat Egypt: Those for the plague, to the plague; those for captivity, tocaptivity; those for the sword, to the sword!	11 E verrà, e flagellerà la terra d'Egitto: quelli, che son per la morte, alla morte; quelli, che son per la schiavitù, alla schiavitù; quelli, che son per la spada, anderanno alla spada.
12 "He wil set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he wil burn these gods or take them prisoner; likea shepherd wrapping his cloak round him, so he will wrap Egypt round him, and then leave without anyonelaying hands on him.	12 E darà fuoco a' templi degli dei dell'Egitto, e gli abbrucerà, e menerà schiavi gli dei: ed ei si vestirà delle spoglie dell'Egitto, come un pastore si cuopre del suo mantello, e andrassene in pace.
13 He wil break the obelisks of the temple of the Sun in Egypt, and burn down the temples of the gods ofEgypt." '	13 E spezzerà le statue della casa del sole, che son nell'Egitto, e incendierà i templi degli dei dell'Egitto.
