Exodus 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Moses was looking after the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led it to the far sideof the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.	1 Moisés, que apacentaba las ovejas de su suegro Jetró, el sacerdote de Madián, llevó una vez el rebaño más allá del desierto y llegó a la montaña de Dios, al Horeb.
2 The angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame blazing from the middle of a bush. Moses looked;there was the bush blazing, but the bush was not being burnt up.	2 Allí se le apareció el Angel del Señor en una llama de fuego, que salía de en medio de la zarza. Al ver que la zarza ardía sin consumirse,
3 Moses said, 'I must go across and see this strange sight, and why the bush is not being burnt up.'	3 Moisés pensó: «Voy a observar este grandioso espectáculo. ¿Por qué será que la zarza no se consume?».
4 When Yahweh saw him going across to look, God cal ed to him from the middle of the bush. 'Moses,Moses!' he said. 'Here I am,' he answered.	4 Cuando el Señor vio que él se apartaba del camino para mirar, lo llamó desde la zarza, diciendo: «¡Moisés, Moisés!». «Aquí estoy», respondió el.
5 'Come no nearer,' he said. 'Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.	5 Entonces Dios le dijo: «No te acerques hasta aquí. Quítate las sandalias, porque el suelo que estás pisando es una tierra santa».
6 I am the God of your ancestors,' he said, 'the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.'At this Moses covered his face, for he was afraid to look at God.	6 Luego siguió diciendo: «Yo soy el Dios de tu padre, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob». Moisés se cubrió el rostro porque tuvo miedo de ver a Dios.
7 Yahweh then said, 'I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying forhelp on account of their taskmasters. Yes, I am well aware of their sufferings.	7 El Señor dijo: «Yo he visto la opresión de mi pueblo, que está en Egipto, y he oído los gritos de dolor, provocados por sus capataces. Sí, conozco muy bien sus sufrimientos.
8 And I have come down to rescue them from the clutches of the Egyptians and bring them up out of thatcountry, to a country rich and broad, to a country flowing with milk and honey, to the home of the Canaanites, theHittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites.	8 Por eso he bajado a librarlo del poder de los egipcios y a hacerlo subir, desde aquel país, a una tierra fértil y espaciosa, a una tierra que mana leche y miel, al país de los cananeos, los hititas, los amorreos, los perizitas, los jivitas y los jebuseos.
9 Yes indeed, the Israelites' cry for help has reached me, and I have also seen the cruel way in which theEgyptians are oppressing them.	9 El clamor de los israelitas ha llegado hasta mi y he visto cómo son oprimidos por los egipcios.
10 So now I am sending you to Pharaoh, for you to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.'	10 Ahora ve, yo te envío al Faraón para que saques de Egipto a mi pueblo, a los israelitas».
11 Moses said to God, 'Who am I to go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?'	11 Pero Moisés dijo a Dios: «¿Quién soy yo para presentarme ante el Faraón y hacer salir de Egipto a los israelitas?».
12 'I shal be with you,' God said, 'and this is the sign by which you wil know that I was the one who sentyou. After you have led the people out of Egypt, you wil worship God on this mountain.'	12 «Yo estaré contigo, les dijo a Dios, y esta es la señal de que soy yo el que te envía: después que hagas salir de Egipto al pueblo, ustedes darán culto a Dios en esta montaña».
13 Moses then said to God, 'Look, if I go to the Israelites and say to them, "The God of your ancestorshas sent me to you," and they say to me, "What is his name?" what am I to tell them?'	13 Moisés dijo a Dios: «Si me presento ante los israelitas y les digo que el Dios de sus padres me envió a ellos, me preguntarán cual es su nombre. Y entonces, ¿qué les responderé?».
14 God said to Moses, 'I am he who is.' And he said, 'This is what you are to say to the Israelites, "I amhas sent me to you." '	14 Dios dijo a Moisés: «Yo soy el que soy». Luego añadió: «Tú hablarás así a los israelitas: «Yo soy» me envió a ustedes».
15 God further said to Moses, 'You are to tel the Israelites, "Yahweh, the God of your ancestors, the Godof Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you." This is my name for al time, and thusI am to be invoked for al generations to come.	15 Y continuó diciendo a Moisés: «Tú hablarás así a los israelitas: El Señor, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob, es el que me envía. Este es mi nombre para siempre y así será invocado en todos los tiempos futuros.
16 'Go, gather the elders of Israel together and tel them, "Yahweh, the God of your ancestors, hasappeared to me -- the God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Jacob -- and has indeed visited you and seen what isbeing done to you in Egypt,	16 Ve a reunir a los ancianos de Israel y diles: El Señor, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob, se me apareció y me dijo: «Yo los he visitado y he visto cómo los maltrataban los egipcios.
17 and has said: I shall bring you out of the misery of Egypt to the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites,the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a country flowing with milk and honey."	17 Por eso decidí librarlos de la opresión que sufren en Egipto, para llevarlos al país de los cananeos, los hititas, los amorreos, los perizitas, los jivitas y los jebuseos, a una tierra que mana leche y miel».
18 They wil listen to your words, and you and the elders of Israel are to go to the king of Egypt and say tohim, "Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has encountered us. So now please al ow us to make a three-days'journey into the desert and sacrifice to Yahweh our God."	18 Ellos te escucharán, y tú irás a presentarte ante el rey de Egipto, junto con los ancianos de Israel. Entonces le dirás: «El Señor, el Dios de los hebreos, vino a nuestro encuentro. Y ahora tenemos que realizar una marcha de tres días por el desierto, para ofrecer sacrificios al Señor, nuestro Dios».
19 I am well aware that the king of Egypt wil not let you go unless he is compel ed by a mighty hand;	19 Ya sé que el rey de Egipto no los dejará partir, si no es obligado por la fuerza.
20 he wil not let you go until I have stretched out my arm and struck Egypt with al the wonders I intend towork there.	20 Pero yo extenderé mi mano y castigaré a Egipto, realizando ante ellos toda clase de prodigios. Así él los dejará partir,
21 'I shal ensure that the Egyptians are so much impressed with this people that when you go, you willnot go empty-handed.	21 y haré que este pueblo se gane el favor de los egipcios, de manera que cuando ustedes salgan, no se vayan con las manos vacías.
22 Every woman wil ask her neighbour and the woman staying in her house for silver and goldenjewel ery, and clothing. In these you wil dress your own sons and daughters, despoiling the Egyptians of them.'	22 Por eso, cada mujer pedirá a su vecina y a la que se hospeda en su casa, objetos de plata y oro, y también vestidos, y se los pondrán a sus hijos e hijas. Así despojarán a los egipcios.
