Tobit 11

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 They were nearly at Kaserin, opposite Nineveh,	1 Quando giunsero nei pressi di Kaserin, di fronte a Ninive, Raffaele disse:
2 when Raphael said, 'You know the plight in which we left your father;	2 "Tu sai in quale condizione abbiamo lasciato tuo padre.
3 let us go on ahead of your wife and prepare the house ourselves while she travels behind with theothers.'	3 Corriamo avanti, prima di tua moglie, e prepariamo la casa, mentre gli altri arrivano".
4 They went on together (Raphael warned Tobias to take the gal with him) and the dog followed them.	4 Partirono ambedue insieme e Raffaele gli disse: "Prendi in mano il fiele". Il cane li seguiva.
5 Anna was sitting, watching the road by which her son would come.	5 Anna intanto stava seduta, intenta a controllare il cammino per il quale doveva ritornare il figlio.
6 She was sure at once it must be he and said to the father, 'Here comes your son, with his companion.'	6 Avuto il presentimento che ritornava, disse al padre di lui: "Ecco, arriva tuo figlio insieme a colui che l'ha accompagnato".
7 Raphael said to Tobias before he reached his father, 'I give you my word that your father's eyes wil open.	7 Prima che si avvicinasse al padre, Raffaele disse a Tobia: "Sono sicuro che i suoi occhi si apriranno.
8 You must put the fish's gal to his eyes; the medicine wil smart and wil draw a filmy white skin off hiseyes. And your father wil no more be blind but will be able to see the light.'	8 Spalma il fiele del pesce sui suoi occhi; il farmaco intaccherà e asporterà le macchie bianche dai suoi occhi, così tuo padre riavrà la vista e vedrà la luce".
9 The mother ran forward and threw her arms round her son's neck. 'Now I can die,' she said, 'I haveseen you again.' And she wept.	9 Anna corse avanti e si gettò al collo del figlio dicendogli: "Ti rivedo, o figlio; ora posso morire". Poi scoppiò in pianto.
10 Tobit rose to his feet and stumbled across the courtyard through the door. Tobias came on towardshim	10 Tobi si alzò e incespicando uscì dalla porta del cortile.
11 (he had the fish's gal in his hand). He blew into his eyes and said, steadying him, 'Take courage,father!' With this he applied the medicine, left it there a while,	11 Tobia gli andò incontro tenendo in mano il fiele del pesce; soffiò sui suoi occhi e tirandolo vicino gli disse: "Coraggio, padre!". Indi applicò il farmaco e glielo tenne fermo.
12 then with both hands peeled away a filmy skin from the corners of his eyes.	12 Poi con ambedue le mani distaccò le scaglie bianche dai margini degli occhi.
13 Then his father fel on his neck	13 Allora Tobi gli si gettò al collo e tra le lacrime gli disse: "Ti rivedo, o figlio, luce dei miei occhi!".
14 and wept. He exclaimed, 'I can see you, my son, the light of my eyes!' And he said: Blessed be God!Blessed be his great name! Blessed be all his holy angels! Blessed be his great name for evermore!	14 E aggiunse: "Benedetto Dio! Benedetto il suo grande nome! Benedetti tutti i suoi santi angeli! Che il suo nome glorioso ci protegga! Benedetti siano gli angeli per tutti i secoli! Poiché egli mi ha colpito, ma mi ha usato misericordia, e ora vedo il mio figlio Tobia!".
15 For, having afflicted me, he has had pity on me and now I see my son Tobias! Tobias went indoors,joyfully blessing God at the top of his voice. Then he told his father everything; how his journey had beensuccessful and he had brought the silver back; how he had married Sarah the daughter of Raguel; how she wasfol owing him now, close behind, and could not be far from the gates of Nineveh.	15 Tobia entrò in casa lieto e benedicendo Dio a piena voce. Poi Tobia informò suo padre del buon esito del viaggio, del denaro che aveva riportato e di Sara, figlia di Raguel, che aveva preso in moglie e che stava arrivando, trovandosi ormai vicina alla porta di Ninive.
16 Tobit set off to the gates of Nineveh to meet his daughter-in-law, giving joyful praise to God as hewent. When the people of Nineveh saw him walking without a guide and stepping forward as briskly as of old,they were astonished.	16 Allora Tobi, lieto e benedicendo Dio, uscì incontro alla sposa di lui verso la porta di Ninive. Quando la gente di Ninive lo vide camminare e circolare con tutto il vigore di un tempo, senza che nessuno lo conducesse per mano, rimase meravigliata. Tobi proclamava davanti a loro che Dio aveva avuto pietà di lui e che gli aveva aperto gli occhi.
17 Tobit described to them how God had taken pity on him and had opened his eyes. Then Tobit metSarah the bride of his son Tobias, and blessed her in these words. 'Welcome, daughter! Blessed be your God forsending you to us, my daughter. Blessings on your father, blessings on my son Tobias, blessings on yourself,my daughter. Welcome now to your own house in joyfulness and in blessedness. Come in, my daughter.' Thatday brought joy to the Jews of Nineveh,	17 Avvicinatosi poi a Sara, la moglie del suo figlio Tobia, la benedisse con queste parole: "Sii benvenuta, o figlia! Sia benedetto il tuo Dio che ti ha fatto venire da noi, o figlia! Benedetto sia tuo padre, benedetto il mio figlio Tobia e benedetta tu, o figlia! Entra nella casa che è tua, in buona salute, in benedizione e gioia, entra, o figlia!".
18 and his cousins Ahikar and Nadab came to share in Tobit's happiness.	18 In quel giorno ci fu una grande festa per tutti i Giudei di Ninive. Achikar e Nadab, nipoti di Tobi, vennero a congratularsi con lui. E si festeggiarono le nozze di Tobia con gioia per sette giorni.
