1 Saul discussed his intention of killing David with his son Jonathan and with all his servants. But Saul's son Jonathan, who was very fond of David,	1 Saúl habló a su hijo Jonatán y a todos sus servidores de su proyecto de matar a David. Pero Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, quería mucho a David,
2 told him: "My father Saul is trying to kill you. Therefore, please be on your guard tomorrow morning; get out of sight and remain in hiding.	2 y lo puso sobre aviso, diciéndole: «Mi padre Saúl intenta matarte. Ten mucho cuidado mañana por la mañana; retírate a un lugar oculto y no te dejes ver.
3 I, however, will go out and stand beside my father in the countryside where you are, and will speak to him about you. If I learn anything, I will let you know."	3 Yo saldré y me quedaré junto con mi padre en el campo donde tú estés; le hablaré de ti, veré que pasa y te lo comunicaré».
4 Jonathan then spoke well of David to his father Saul, saying to him: "Let not your majesty sin against his servant David, for he has committed no offense against you, but has helped you very much by his deeds.	4 Jonatán habló a su padre Saúl en favor de David, y le dijo: «Que el rey no peque contra su servidor David, ya que él no ha pecado contra ti. Al contrario, sus acciones te reportan grandes beneficios.
5 When he took his life in his hands and slew the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great victory for all Israel through him, you were glad to see it. Why, then, should you become guilty of shedding innocent blood by killing David without cause?"	5 El se jugó la vida cuando derrotó al filisteo, y el Señor dio una gran victoria a todo Israel. Si tanto te alegraste al verlo, ¿por qué vas a pecar con sangre inocente, matando a David sin motivo?».
6 Saul heeded Jonathan's plea and swore, "As the LORD lives, he shall not be killed."	6 Saúl hizo caso a Jonatán y pronunció este juramento: «¡Por la vida del Señor, no morirá!».
7 So Jonathan summoned David and repeated the whole conversation to him. Jonathan then brought David to Saul, and David served him as before.	7 Jonatán llamó a David y lo puso al tanto de todo. Luego lo llevó a la presencia de Saúl, y David quedó a su servicio como antes.
8 When war broke out again, David went out to fight against the Philistines and inflicted a great defeat upon them, putting them to flight.	8 Al reanudarse la guerra, David salió a combatir contra los filisteos; les infligió una gran derrota y ellos huyeron ante él.
9 Then an evil spirit from the LORD came upon Saul as he was sitting in his house with spear in hand and David was playing the harp nearby.	9 Entonces, un mal espíritu del Señor se apoderó de Saúl. Mientras él estaba sentado en su casa, con la lanza en la mano, y David tocaba su instrumento,
10 Saul tried to nail David to the wall with the spear, but David eluded Saul, so that the spear struck only the wall, and David got away safe.	10 Saúl trató de clavarlo contra la pared con la lanza. Pero David esquivó el golpe de Saúl, y la lanza se clavó en la pared. En seguida David huyó y se puso a salvo.
11 The same night, Saul sent messengers to David's house to guard it, that he might kill him in the morning. David's wife Michal informed him, "Unless you save yourself tonight, tomorrow you will be killed."	11 Saúl envió unos emisarios a la casa de David, para vigilarlo y darle muerte a la mañana. Pero Mical, su esposa, le advirtió: «Si no salvas tu vida esta noche, mañana estarás muerto».
12 Then Michal let David down through a window, and he made his escape in safety.	12 Mical ayudó a David a bajar por la ventana, y él huyó para ponerse a salvo.
13 Michal took the household idol and laid it in the bed, putting a net of goat's hair at its head and covering it with a spread.	13 Luego, Mical tomó el ídolo familiar y lo colocó sobre la cama; puso en la cabecera un cuero de cabra y lo cubrió con una manta.
14 When Saul sent messengers to arrest David, she said, "He is sick."	14 Saúl envió emisarios para que detuvieran a David, pero Mical les dijo: «Está enfermo».
15 Saul, however, sent the messengers back to see David and commanded them, "Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him."	15 Saúl los mandó de nuevo a ver a David, con esta orden: «¡Tráiganmelo con cama y todo, para que yo lo mate!».
16 But when the messengers entered, they found the household idol in the bed, with the net of goat's hair at its head.	16 Pero cuando los emisarios entraron, no encontraron en la cama más que el ídolo, con el cuero de cabra en la cabecera.
17 Saul therefore asked Michal: "Why did you play this trick on me? You have helped my enemy to get away!" Michal answered Saul: "He threatened me, 'Let me go or I will kill you.'"	17 Saúl dijo a Mical: «¿Qué manera de engañarme es esta? ¡Has dejado escapar a mi enemigo!». Mical le respondió: «El me dijo: «O me dejas partir o te mato».
18 Thus David got safely away; he went to Samuel in Ramah, informing him of all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to stay in the sheds.	18 Una vez que huyó y se puso a salvo, David se presentó a Samuel en Ramá y le contó todo lo que le había hecho Saúl. Luego, él y Samuel fueron a alojarse en Naiot.
19 When Saul was told that David was in the sheds near Ramah,	19 Cuando informaron a Saúl de que David estaba en Naiot, en Ramá,
20 he sent messengers to arrest David. But when they saw the band of prophets, presided over by Samuel, in a prophetic frenzy, they too fell into the prophetic state.	20 aquel envió emisarios para que detuvieran a David. 21 Informed of this, Saul sent other messengers, who also fell into the prophetic state. For the third time Saul sent messengers, but they too fell into the prophetic state.	21 Al enterarse de esto, Saúl envió otros emisarios, pero también ellos entraron en trance. Por tercera vez, Saúl volvió a enviar emisarios, y también ellos entraron en trance.
22 Saul then went to Ramah himself. Arriving at the cistern of the threshing floor on the bare hilltop, he inquired, "Where are Samuel and David?", and was told, "At the sheds near Ramah."	22 Entonces fue él personalmente a Ramá. 23 As he set out from the hilltop toward the sheds, the spirit of God came upon him also, and he continued on in a prophetic condition until he reached the spot. At the sheds near Ramah	23 De allí se dirigió a Naiot, en Ramá, y el espíritu del Señor se apoderó de él, de manera que fue caminando en estado de trance hasta Naiot, en Ramá.
24 he, too, stripped himself of his garments and he, too, remained in the prophetic state in the presence of Samuel; all that day and night he lay naked. That is why they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"	24 También él se despojó de su ropa y estuvo en trance delante de Samuel. Luego cayó rendido, y estuvo desnudo todo aquel día y aquella noche. Por eso se puede decir: «¿También Saúl está entre los profetas?».
