1 Once Samson went to Gaza, where he saw a harlot and visited her.	1 Sansone andò a Gaza e vedutavi una donna di cattiva vita andò da lei.
2 Informed that Samson had come there, the men of Gaza surrounded him with an ambush at the city gate all night long. And all the night they waited, saying, "Tomorrow morning we will kill him."	2 Or quando i Filistei seppero la cosa e si propalò fra loro che Sansone era entrato nella città, lo circondarono, e poste guardie alla porta della città, ve lo aspettarono tutta la notte in silenzio, per ucciderlo la mattina, quando se ne andasse.
3 Samson rested there until midnight. Then he rose, seized the doors of the city gate and the two gateposts, and tore them loose, bar and all. 5 The lords of the Philistines came to her and said, "Beguile him and find out the secret of his great strength, and how we may overcome and bind him so as to keep him helpless. 6 So Delilah said to Samson, "Tell me the secret of your great strength and how you may be bound so as to be kept helpless."	6 Dalila disse a Sansone: « Mi faresti il piacere di dirmi in che consista la tua grandissima forza e con che dovrebbero legarti per non farti scappare? »
7 "If they bind me with seven fresh bowstrings which have not dried," Samson answered her, "I shall be as weak as any other man."	7 Sansone le rispose: « Se io fossi legato con sette corde fatte di nervi freschi e ancora umidi, diventerei impotente come gli altri uomini ».
8 So the lords of the Philistines brought her seven fresh bowstrings which had not dried, and she bound him with them.	8 E avendole i principi dei Filistei portate sette corde come egli aveva detto, essa lo legò,
9 She had men lying in wait in the chamber and so she said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" But he snapped the strings as a thread of tow is severed by a whiff of flame; and the secret of his strength remained unknown.	9 e, posta gente in agguato ad aspettare nella camera l'esito dell'affare, gli gridò: « Sansone, i Filistei ti sono addosso! » Ed egli ruppe le corde come un filo torto con avanzi di stoppa quando ha sentito il fuoco, e nessuno seppe in che consistesse la sua forza.
10 Delilah said to Samson, "You have mocked me and told me lies. Now tell me how you may be bound."	10 Allora Dalila gli disse: « Ecco, ti prendi gioco di me e mi dici bugie, dimmelo almeno ora con che dovresti esser legato ».
11 "If they bind me tight with new ropes, with which no work has been done," he answered her, "I shall be as weak as any other man."	11 Sansone le rispose: « Se fossi legato con funi nuove, non mai adoperate, resterei impotente come gli altri uomini ».
12 So Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them. Then she said to him, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" For there were men lying in wait in the chamber. But he snapped them off his arms like thread.	12 E Dalila, dopo averlo legato con queste, ed aver preparate le insidie nella camera, gridò: « Sansone, i Filistei ti sono addosso! » Ma egli ruppe le corde come fili di tela.
13 Delilah said to Samson again, "Up to now you have mocked me and told me lies. Tell me how you may be bound." He said to her, "If you weave my seven locks of hair into the web and fasten them with the pin, I shall be as weak as any other man."	13 E Dalila gli disse: « Fino a quando m'ingannerai colle tue bugie? Dimmi con che dovresti esser legato ». E Sansone le rispose: « Se tessi le sette trecce della mia testa, e, avvoltele intorno ad un chiodo le fissi in terra, io sarò impotente ».
14 So while he slept, Delilah wove his seven locks of hair into the web, and fastened them in with the pin. Then she said, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!" Awakening from his sleep, he pulled out both the weaver's pin and the web.	14 Dopo averlo fatto, Dalila gli disse: « Sansone, i Filistei ti sono addosso! » Ma egli, svegliatosi, sconficcò il chiodo coi capelli e col liccio.
15 Then she said to him, "How can you say that you love me when you do not confide in me? Three times already you have mocked me, and not told me the secret of your great strength!"	15 Allora Dalila gli disse: « Come fai a dire di volermi bene, se il tuo cuore non è con me? Tre volte mi hai mentito, per non volermi dire in che consista la tua grandissima forza! »
16 She importuned him continually and vexed him with her complaints till he was deathly weary of them.	16 E siccome, standogli sempre intorno, l'aveva tormentato per molti giorni, senza dargli pace, essendogli venuto meno l'animo, annoiato a morte,
17 So he took her completely into his confidence and told her, "No razor has touched my head, for I have been consecrated to God from my mother's womb. If I am shaved, my strength will leave me, and I shall be as weak as any other man."	17 scoprì come stava la cosa e disse: « Il rasoio non è mai passato sulla mia testa: io son nazareo, consacrato a Dio dal seno di mia madre; tosato che fosse il mio capo, se ne andrebbe la mia forza, e diventerei impotente come tutti gli altri uomini ».
18 When Delilah saw that he had taken her completely into his confidence, she summoned the lords of the Philistines, saying, "Come up this time, for he has opened his heart to me." So the lords of the Philistines came and brought up the money with them.	18 Dalila, vedendo che le aveva aperto tutto il suo cuore, mandò a chiamare i principi dei Filistei, facendo dir loro: « Questa volta venite pure, perchè finalmente egli mi ha aperto il suo cuore ». Ed essi salirono, portando seco il danaro promesso.
19 She had him sleep on her lap, and called for a man who shaved off his seven locks of hair. Then she began to mistreat him, for his strength had left him.	19 Dalila io fece addormentare sulle sue ginocchia col capo nel suo seno, e fe' chiamare un parrucchiere che gli tosò le sette trecce. Dopo averlo respinto e cacciato da sè, perchè la forza di lui se n'era subito andata,
20 When she said, "The Philistines are upon you, Samson!", and he woke from his sleep, he thought he could make good his escape as he had done time and again, for he did not realize that the LORD had left him.	20 disse: « Sansone, i Filistei ti sono addosso ». Egli, svegliatosi, disse dentro di sè: « Ne uscirò come per l'addietro e mi distrigherò »; ma non sapeva che il Signore s'era ritirato da lui.
21 But the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes. Then they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze fetters, and he was put to grinding in the prison.	21 Allora i Filistei lo presero, e cavatigli subito gli occhi, lo menarono incatenato a Gaza, ove lo chiusero in prigione e gli fecero girare la macina.
22 But the hair of his head began to grow as soon as it was shaved off.	22 Ma già cominciavano a rinascere i suoi capelli,
23 The lords of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon and to make merry. They said,	23 quando i Filistei si radunarono per offrire sacrifizi solenni a Dagon loro dio, a banchettare e a dire: « Il nostro dio ha dato nello nostre mani il nostro nemico Sansone! »
24 When the people saw him, they praised their god.	24 E anche il popolo, avendolo visto, dava lodi al suo dio e ripeteva: « Il nostro dio ci ha dato nelle mani il nostro avversario che devastò il nostro paese e uccise tanta gente! »
25 When their spirits were high, they said, "Call Samson that he may amuse us." So they called Samson from the prison, and he played the buffoon before them.	25 Or quando nell'allegro convito ebbero ben mangiato, ordinarono che fosse chiamato Sansone a divertirli. Sansone, fatto uscire dalla prigione, si mise a far giochi davanti a loro. Siccome lo facevan stare in piedi fra due colonne,
26 Samson said to the attendant who was holding his hand, "Put me where I may touch the columns that support the temple and may rest against them."	26 egli disse al fanciullo che lo teneva per mano: « Lasciami toccare le colonne sulle quali poggia tutta la casa, che mi appoggi ad esse per riposarmi un tantino ».
27 The temple was full of men and women: all the lords of the Philistines were there, and from the roof about three thousand men and women looked on as Samson provided amusement.	27 La casa era piena di uomini e di donne: vi erano tutti i principi dei Filistei e circa tre mila persone dell'uno e dell'altro sesso, i quali dal tetto e dal terrazzo stavano a guardare Sansone che ballava.
28 Samson cried out to the LORD and said, "O Lord GOD, remember me! Strengthen me, O God, this last time that for my two eyes I may avenge myself once and for all on the Philistines."	28 Ma Sansone invocò il Signore e disse: « Signore Dio, ricordati di me, e rendimi in quest'ora la mia forza d'una volta; o mio Dio, che possa vendicarmi dei miei nemici, e possa prendere almeno una vendetta per i miei occhi perduti! »
29 Samson grasped the two middle columns on which the temple rested and braced himself against them, one at his right hand, the other at his left.	29 Prese poi le due colonne sulle quali poggiava la casa, e, tenendone una colla destra e l'altra colla sinistra,
30 And Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" He pushed hard, and the temple fell upon the lords and all the people who were in it. Those he killed at his death were more than those he had killed during his lifetime.	30 esclamò: « Muoia Sansone coi Filistei! » Data una forte scossa alle colonne, fece rovinare la casa addosso a tutti i principi e a tutto il popolo che vi si trovava: così egli ne uccise più morendo che in tutta la vita.
31 All his family and kinsmen went down and bore him up for burial in the grave of his father Manoah between Zorah and Eshtaol. He had judged Israel for twenty years.	31 I suoi fratelli e tutta la sua parentela andarono a prendere il suo corpo e lo seppellirono tra Saraa ed Estaol, nel sepolcro di Manne, suo padre.
