Deuteronomy 5

1 Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, "Hear, O Israel, the statutes and decrees which I proclaim in your hearing this day, that you may learn them and take care to observe them.	1 Mose rief ganz Israel zusammen. Er sagte zu ihnen: Höre, Israel, die Gesetze und Rechtsvorschriften, die ich euch heute vortrage. Ihr sollt sie lernen, auf sie achten und sie halten.
2 The LORD, our God, made a covenant with us at Horeb;	2 Der Herr, unser Gott, hat am Horeb einen Bund mit uns geschlossen.
3 not with our fathers did he make this covenant, but with us, all of us who are alive here this day.	3 Nicht mit unseren Vätern hat der Herr diesen Bund geschlossen, sondern mit uns, die wir heute hier stehen, mit uns allen, mit den Lebenden.
4 The LORD spoke with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire.	4 Auge in Auge hat der Herr auf dem Berg mitten aus dem Feuer mit euch geredet.
5 Since you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain, I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to announce to you these words of the LORD:	5 Ich stand damals zwischen dem Herrn und euch, um euch das Wort des Herrn weiterzugeben; denn ihr wart aus Furcht vor dem Feuer nicht auf den Berg gekommen. Der Herr sprach:
6 'I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.	6 Ich bin Jahwe, dein Gott, der dich aus Ägypten geführt hat, aus dem Sklavenhaus.
7 You shall not have other gods besides me.	7 Du sollst neben mir keine anderen Götter haben.
8 You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth;	8 Du sollst dir kein Gottesbildnis machen, das irgendetwas darstellt am Himmel droben, auf der Erde unten oder im Wasser unter der Erde.
9 you shall not bow down before them or worship them. For I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishments for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation	9 Du sollst dich nicht vor anderen Göttern niederwerfen und dich nicht verpflichten, ihnen zu dienen. Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, bin ein eifersüchtiger Gott: Bei denen, die mir Feind sind, verfolge ich die Schuld der Väter an den Söhnen und an der dritten und vierten Generation;
10 but bestowing mercy, down to the thousandth generation, on the children of those who love me and keep my commandments.	10 bei denen, die mich lieben und auf meine Gebote achten, erweise ich Tausenden meine Huld.
11 'You shall not take the name of the LORD, your God, in vain. For the LORD will not leave unpunished him who takes his name in vain.	11 Du sollst den Namen des Herrn, deines Gottes, nicht missbrauchen; denn der Herr lässt den nicht ungestraft, der seinen Namen missbraucht.
12 'Take care to keep holy the sabbath day as the LORD, your God, commanded you.	12 Achte auf den Sabbat: Halte ihn heilig, wie es dir der Herr, dein Gott, zur Pflicht gemacht hat.
13 Six days you may labor and do all your work;	13 Sechs Tage darfst du schaffen und jede Arbeit tun.
14 but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD, your God. No work may be done then, whether by you, or your son or daughter, or your male or female slave, or your ox or ass or any of your beasts, or the alien who lives with you. Your male and female slave should rest as you do.	14 Der siebte Tag ist ein Ruhetag, dem Herrn, deinem Gott, geweiht. An ihm darfst du keine Arbeit tun: du, dein Sohn und deine Tochter, dein Sklave und deine Sklavin, dein Rind, dein Esel und dein ganzes Vieh und der Fremde, der in deinen Stadtbereichen Wohnrecht hat. Dein Sklave und deine Sklavin sollen sich ausruhen wie du.
15 For remember that you too were once slaves in Egypt, and the LORD, your God, brought you from there with his strong hand and outstretched arm. That is why the LORD, your God, has commanded you to observe the sabbath day.	15 Denk daran: Als du in Ägypten Sklave warst, hat dich der Herr, dein Gott, mit starker Hand und hoch erhobenem Arm dort herausgeführt. Darum hat es dir der Herr, dein Gott, zur Pflicht gemacht, den Sabbat zu halten.
16 'Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD, your God, has commanded you, that you may have a long life and prosperity in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you.	16 Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter, wie es dir der Herr, dein Gott, zur Pflicht gemacht hat, damit du lange lebst und es dir gut geht in dem Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt.
17 'You shall not kill.	17 Du sollst nicht morden,
18 'You shall not commit adultery.	18 du sollst nicht die Ehe brechen,
19 'You shall not steal.	19 du sollst nicht stehlen,
20 'You shall not bear dishonest witness against your neighbor.	20 du sollst nicht Falsches gegen deinen Nächsten aussagen,
21 'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. 'You shall not desire your neighbor's house or field, nor his male or female slave, nor his ox or ass, nor anything that belongs to him.'	21 du sollst nicht nach der Frau deines Nächsten verlangen und du sollst nicht das Haus deines Nächsten begehren, nicht sein Feld, seinen Sklaven oder seine Sklavin, sein Rind oder seinen Esel, nichts, was deinem Nächsten gehört.
22 "These words, and nothing more, the LORD spoke with a loud voice to your entire assembly on the mountain from the midst of the fire and the dense cloud. He wrote them upon two tablets of stone and gave them to me.	22 Diese Worte sagte der Herr auf dem Berg zu eurer vollzähligen Versammlung, mitten aus dem Feuer, aus Wolken und Dunkel, unter lautem Donner, diese Worte und sonst nichts. Er schrieb sie auf zwei Steintafeln und übergab sie mir.
23 But when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, you came to me in the person of all your tribal heads and elders,	23 Als ihr den Donner mitten aus der Finsternis gehört hattet und der Berg immer noch in Feuer stand, seid ihr zu mir gekommen - eure Stammesführer und Ältesten -
24 and said, 'The LORD, our God, has indeed let us see his glory and his majesty! We have heard his voice from the midst of the fire and have found out today that a man can still live after God has spoken with him.	24 und habt gesagt: Sieh, der Herr, unser Gott, hat uns seine Herrlichkeit und Macht gezeigt und wir haben seine donnernde Stimme mitten aus dem Feuer gehört. Heute ist es uns geschehen, dass Gott zu Menschen sprach und sie am Leben blieben.
25 But why should we die now? Surely this great fire will consume us. If we hear the voice of the LORD, our God, any more, we shall die.	25 Trotzdem: Warum sollen wir noch einmal das Leben aufs Spiel setzen? Denn dieses große Feuer könnte uns verzehren. Wenn wir noch einmal die donnernde Stimme des Herrn, unseres Gottes, hören, werden wir sterben.
26 For what mortal has heard, as we have, the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of fire, and survived?	26 Denn welches Wesen aus Fleisch wäre am Leben geblieben, wenn es wie wir die donnernde Stimme des lebendigen Gottes gehört hätte, als er mitten aus dem Feuer redete?
27 Go closer, you, and hear all that the LORD, our God, will say, and then tell us what the LORD, our God, tells you; we will listen and obey.'	27 Geh du allein hin! Höre alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, sagt. Berichte uns dann alles, was der Herr, unser Gott, dir gesagt hat, und wir werden es hören und halten.
28 "The LORD heard your words as you were speaking to me and said to me, 'I have heard the words these people have spoken to you, which are all well said.	28 Der Herr hörte euer Geschrei, als ihr auf mich einredetet, und sagte zu mir: Ich habe das Geschrei dieses Volkes gehört, mit dem es dich bedrängt hat. Alles, was sie von dir verlangen, ist recht.
29 Would that they might always be of such a mind, to fear me and to keep all my commandments! Then they and their descendants would prosper forever.	29 Möchten sie doch diese Gesinnung behalten, mich fürchten und ihr Leben lang auf alle meine Gebote achten, damit es ihnen und ihren Nachkommen immer gut geht.
30 Go, tell them to return to their tents.	30 Geh und sag ihnen: Kehrt zu euren Zelten zurück!
31 Then you wait here near me and I will give you all the commandments, the statutes and decrees you must teach them, that they may observe them in the land which I am giving them to possess.'	31 Und du, stell dich hierher zu mir! Ich will dir das ganze Gebot mitteilen, die Gesetze und Rechtsvorschriften, die du sie lehren sollst und die sie halten sollen in dem Land, das ich ihnen gebe und das sie in Besitz nehmen sollen.
32 "Be careful, therefore, to do as the LORD, your God, has commanded you, not turning aside to the right or to the left,	32 Daher sollt ihr darauf achten, dass ihr handelt, wie es der Herr, euer Gott, euch vorgeschrieben hat. Ihr sollt weder rechts noch links abweichen.
33 but following exactly the way prescribed for you by the LORD, your God, that you may live and prosper, and may have long life in the land which you are to occupy.	33 Ihr sollt nur auf dem Weg gehen, den der Herr, euer Gott, euch vorgeschrieben hat, damit ihr Leben habt und es euch gut geht und ihr lange lebt in dem Land, das ihr in Besitz nehmt.
