1 When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it became known that he was at home.	1 - Dopo alcuni giorni, Gesù tornò a Cafarnao;
2 Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them, not even around the door, and he preached the word to them.	2 e quando si seppe ch'era in casa, vi si radunò molta gente in modo che non c'era più posto neppure davanti alla porta. Ed egli annunciava loro la parola.
3 They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.	3 Allora gli venne condotto un paralitico, portato da quattro uomini.
4 Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying.	4 Ma siccome non potevano presentarglielo per la folla, scoprirono il tetto dalla parte dov'egli era e, fattasi un'apertura, calarono il lettuccio in cui giaceva il paralitico.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Child, your sins are forgiven."	5 Gesù vedendo la loro fede, disse al paralitico: «Figliuolo, i tuoi peccati ti son rimessi».
6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there asking themselves,	6 Ora alcuni Scribi che stavano a sedere, pensavano:
7 "Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming. Who but God alone can forgive sins?"	7 «Come mai costui parla così? Egli bestemmia! Chi può rimettere i peccati se non il solo Dio?».
8 Jesus immediately knew in his mind what they were thinking to themselves, so he said, "Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?	8 Gesù, avendo subito conosciuto nel suo spirito che essi la pensavano così, disse: «Perchè fate questi pensieri?
9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, pick up your mat and walk'?	9 Cos'è più facile, dire al paralitico: - Ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati, - oppure dirgli: - Levati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e cammina -?
10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth"--	10 Ora, perchè voi sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha sulla terra il potere di rimettere i peccati», disse al paralitico:
11 he said to the paralytic, "I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home."	11 «Dico a te: - Levati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e vattene a casa -».
12 He rose, picked up his mat at once, and went away in the sight of everyone. They were all astounded and glorified God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this."	12 Costui si levò subito e, preso il suo lettuccio, se ne andò in presenza della folla, tanto che tutti, sbigottiti, glorificavan Dio, dicendo: «Non abbiamo mai veduto una cosa simile».
13 Once again he went out along the sea. All the crowd came to him and he taught them.	13 Gesù uscì di nuovo verso il mare; e tutto il popolo andava a lui ed egli li ammaestrava.
14 As he passed by, he saw Levi, son of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him.	14 Nel passare, vide Levi, figlio d'Alfeo, seduto al banco della gabella e gli disse: «Seguimi». Ed egli, alzatosi lo seguì.
15 While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him.	15 Mentre Gesù si trovava a tavola in casa di quest'uomo, molti pubblicani e peccatori sedevano a mensa con lui e co' suoi discepoli, ch'eran molti e l'avevan seguìto.
16 Some scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors and said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"	16 Gli Scribi e i Farisei, vedendolo mangiare coi peccatori e coi pubblicani, chiedevano a' suoi discepoli: «Come mai il vostro maestro mangia e beve coi pubblicani e coi peccatori?».
17 Jesus heard this and said to them (that), "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."	17 Gesù, udito questo, rispose loro: «Non hanno bisogno del medico i sani, ma i malati; io non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori».
18 The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast. People came to him and objected, "Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?"	18 I discepoli di Giovanni e i Farisei digiunavano. Essi dunque vennero da Gesù e gli domandarono: «Perchè i discepoli di Giovanni e de' Farisei digiunano e invece i tuoi discepoli no?».
19 Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.	19 Gesù rispose loro: «Possono i compagni dello sposo digiunare, mentre lo sposo è con loro? Finchè lo sposo è con essi, non posson digiunare.
20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day.	20 Ma verranno i giorni nei quali sarà ad essi tolto lo sposo e allora, in quei giorni, digiuneranno.
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse.	21 Nessuno cuce un pezzo di stoffa nuova sopra un vestito usato; altrimenti la pezza nuova porta via un po' del vecchio e lo strappo si fa più grande.
22 Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins."	22 Così nessuno mette il vino nuovo in otri vecchi, altrimenti il vino farà scoppiare gli otri e il vino si verserà e gli otri saran perduti. Ma il vino nuovo va messo in otri nuovi».
23 As he was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath, his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain.	23 In giorno di sabato Gesù attraversava campi seminati e i suoi discepoli, cammin facendo, si misero a coglier delle spighe.
24 At this the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?"	24 Gli dissero i Farisei: «Vedi! Perchè fanno di sabato ciò che non è permesso?».
25 He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry?	25 Egli rispose loro: «Non avete mai letto quanto fece David quando fu nel bisogno ed ebbero fame lui e quanti eran con lui?
26 How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat, and shared it with his companions?"	26 Com'egli entrò nella casa di Dio, essendo sommo sacerdote Abiatar, e mangiò i pani della Proposizione, dei quali a nessuno è lecito cibarsi se non ai sacerdoti, e ne diede anche a quelli che eran con lui?».
27 Then he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.	27 E soggiunse: «Il sabato è stato fatto per l'uomo e non l'uomo per il sabato.
28 That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath."	28 Perciò il Figlio dell'uomo è padrone anche del sabato».
