1 When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it became known that he was at home.	1 E alcuni giorni dopo entrò nuovamente in Cafarnaum.
2 Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them, not even around the door, and he preached the word to them.	2 E si riseppe, ch'egli era nella casa, e si radunò molta gente; dimodoché non capivano nemmeno nello spazio d'intorno alla porta: e predicava loro la parola.
3 They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.	3 E venner da lui alcuni, che conducevano un paralitico portato da quattro persone.
4 Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying.	4 E non potendo presentarglielo per la folla, scoprirono il palco dalla parte, dov'egli stava: e fatta un'apertura, calarono il lettuccio, nel quale giaceva il paralitico.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Child, your sins are forgiven."	5 E Gesù veduta la loro fede, disse al paralitico: Figliuolo, ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati.
6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there asking themselves,	6 Eran ivi a sedere alcnni degli Scribi, i quali andavano discorrendo in cuor loro:
7 "Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming. Who but God alone can forgive sins?"	7 Perché cosi parla costui? egli bestemmia. Chi può perdonare i peccati, fuorichè il solo Dio?
8 Jesus immediately knew in his mind what they were thinking to themselves, so he said, "Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?	8 Ma avendo subito Gesù col suo spirito conosciuto, che in tal modo la discorrevano dentro di se, disse loro: Per qual motivo tali cose andate ruminando ne' vostri cuori?
9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, pick up your mat and walk'?	9 Che cosa è più facile, il dire al paralitico: ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati: oppure il dire: Alzati, prendi il tuo letticciuolo e cammina?
10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth"--	10 Or affinchè voi sappiate, che il Figliuol dell'uomo ha potestà in terra di rimettere i peccati, (disse al paralitico):
11 he said to the paralytic, "I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home."	11 Dico a te: Sorgi, prendi il tuo letticciuolo, e vattene a casa tua.
12 He rose, picked up his mat at once, and went away in the sight of everyone. They were all astounded and glorified God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this."	12 E immantinenti quegli si alzò: e preso il suo letticciuolo a vista di tutti, se ne andò; talmente che tutti restarono stupefatti, e glorificaron Dio, dicendo: Non mai abbiam visto simil cosa.
13 Once again he went out along the sea. All the crowd came to him and he taught them.	13 Ed egli se ne andò di nuovo verso il mare: e lutto il popolo andava da lui, ed ei gli instruiva.
14 As he passed by, he saw Levi, son of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him.	14 E in passando vide Levi figliuolo d'Alfeo, che sedeva al banco, e gli disse: Seguimi. Ed egli alzatosi lo seguitò.
15 While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many who followed him.	15 E avvenne, che, essendo egli a tavola nella casa di lui, molti pubblicani, e peccatori erano a mensa con Gesù, e con i suoi discepoli: imperocché molti (di quelli) v' erano, che lo seguivano.
16 Some scribes who were Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors and said to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"	16 Or gli Scribi, e i Farisei al vederlo mangiare con i pubblicani, e i peccatori dicevano a' suoi discepoli: Per qual motivo il vostro Maestro mangia, e beve co' pubblicani, e peccatori?
17 Jesus heard this and said to them (that), "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."	17 Il che avendo udito Gesù, disse loro: Non han bisogno del medico i sani, ma i malati: imperocché non son venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori.
18 The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast. People came to him and objected, "Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?"	18 E i discepoli di Giovanni, e i Farisei facevano de' digiuni: vanno adunque, e dicono a lui: Per qual motivo i discepoli di Giovanni, e de' Farisei digiunano; e i tuoi discepoli non digiunano?
19 Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.	19 E Gesù disse loro: possono forse i compagni dello sposo digiunare, fino a tanto che lo sposo è con essi? Mentre hanno con seco lo sposo, non possono digiunare.
20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day.	20 Ma tempo verrà, che sarà loro tolto lo sposo: e allora per quel tempo digiuneranno.
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse.	21 Nissuno cuce a un vestito vecchio un pezzo di panno nuovo: altrimenti la nuova giunta strappa del vecchio, e lo sdrucio diventa maggiore.
22 Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins."	22 E nissuno mette il vino nuovo in otri vecchi: altrimenti il vino rompe gli otri, e il vino si versa, e gli otri vanno in malora; ma il vino nuovo va messo in otri nuovi.
23 As he was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath, his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain.	23 Successe ancora, che, camminando il Signore in giorno di sabato pei seminati, i suoi discepoli cominciavano a inoltrarsi, e cogliere delle spighe.
24 At this the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?"	24 E i Farisei dicevano a lui: Ecco, perchè fanno eglino in giorno di sabato quello, che non è lecito?
25 He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry?	25 Ed egli disse loro: Non avete mai letto o quello, che fece Davidde, trovandosi in necessità, e avendo fame egli, e i suoi compagni?
26 How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat, and shared it with his companions?"	26 Come entrò nella casa di Dio, essendo sommo sacerdote Abiatar, e mangiò i pani della proposizione, de' quali non era lecito mangiare, se non a' soli sacerdoti, e ne dette a' suoi compagni?
27 Then he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.	27 E disse loro: Il sabato è stato fatto per l'uomo, e non l'uomo pel sabato.
28 That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath."	28 E adunque il Figliuolo dell'uomo padrone anche del sabato.
