1 See, upon the mountains there advances the bearer of good news, announcing peace! Celebrate your feasts, O Judah, fulfill your vows! For nevermore shall you be invaded by the scoundrel; he is completely destroyed.	1 - Già sale incontro a te colui che devasterà, colui che ti stringerà d'assedio; e tu sorvegliane la marcia, ingagliardisci i fianchi, rinforza la lena molto.
2 The hammer comes up against you; guard the rampart, Keep watch on the road, gird your loins, marshall all your strength!	2 Perchè il Signore ha restituita la gloria di Giacobbe, la gloria di quei di Israele com'era; benchè i devastatori li abbiano dispersi e abbian dato il guasto a tutte le propaggini loro.
3 The LORD will restore the vine of Jacob, the pride of Israel, Though ravagers have ravaged them and ruined the tendrils.	3 Lo scudo dei suoi forti è fiammeggiante; in vesti vermiglie è la gente del suo esercito; sono scintillanti le bardature dei carri: nel giorno dei preparativi, i cocchieri li agitano vertiginosamente.
4 The shields of his warriors are crimsoned, the soldiers colored in scarlet; Fiery steel are the chariots on the day of his mustering. The horses are frenzied;	4 Si confondono per le strade, s'urtano i carri per le piazze, hanno l'aspetto di faci, di folgori guizzanti.
5 the chariots dash madly through the streets And wheel in the squares, looking like firebrands, flashing like lightning bolts.	5 Arringa i suoi prodi, si precipitano per le vie, salgono veloci alle mura e si dispone il riparo.
6 His picked troops are called, ranks break at their charge; To the wall they rush, the mantelet is set up.	6 Già si sono spalancate le porte dei fiumi e la reggia è rovesciata al suolo;
7 The river gates are opened, the palace shudders,	7 la milizia fatta prigioniera è condotta via; le sue ancelle trascinate gementi come colombe coi singhiozzi nel petto;
8 Its mistress is led forth captive, and her handmaids, under guard, Moaning like doves, beating their breasts.	8 e Ninive dalle sue proprie acque invasa è come una laguna; ma essi sono fuggiti. Fermatevi, fermatevi! Ma non c'è nessuno, che si volga indietro.
9 Nineveh is like a pool whose waters escape; "Stop! Stop!" but none turns back.	9 Predate l'argento, predate l'oro, ricchezze senza fine di oggetti preziosissimi d'ogni sorta!
10 "Plunder the silver, plunder the gold!" There is no end to the treasure, to their wealth in precious things of every kind!	10 Devastata, squarciata, messa a brani, strutto il cuore, disciolte le ginocchia, spossata di tutte le forze, e tutte le facce tinte come paiuoli!
11 Emptiness, desolation, waste; melting hearts and trembling knees, Writhing in every frame, every face blanched!	11 Dov'è l'albergo dei leoni, il luogo dei pasti dei lioncelli, dove andava il leone a ritirarsi col lioncello, senza alcuno che osasse disturbarli?
12 Where is the lions' cave, the young lions' den, Where the lion went in and out, and the cub, with no one to disturb them?	12 Il leone faceva abbondanti prede pei suoi lioncelli e strozzava vittime per le sue leonesse, e aveva riempito di preda la sua tana e di rapina il suo covo.
13 The lion snatched enough for his cubs, and strangled for his lionesses; He filled his dens with prey, and his caves with plunder.	13 Ma eccomi a te, dice il Signore degli eserciti, io voglio incenerire e mandare in fumo tutte le tue quadrighe; i tuoi leoni saranno pascolo della spada e sterminerò dalla terra la tua preda, e non si udirà più mai la voce dei tuoi nunzi!
14 I come against you, says the LORD of hosts; I will consume in smoke your chariots, and the sword shall devour your young lions; Your preying on the land I will bring to an end, the cry of your lionesses shall be heard no more.
