In days to come the mount of the LORD'S house Shall be established higher than the mountains; it shall rise high above the hills, And peoples shall stream to it:1 Et voici, dans les derniers temps, la montagne de la maison du Seigneur sera fondée sur le sommet des mont(agne)s et elle s'élèvera au-dessus des collines ; les peuples y afflueront,
Many nations shall come, and say, "Come, let us climb the mount of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, That he may instruct us in his ways, that we may walk in his paths." For from Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.2 et les nations accourront en foule, et diront : Venez, montons à la montagne du Seigneur et à la maison du Dieu de Jacob ; il nous enseignera ses voies, et nous marcherons dans ses sentiers, car de Sion sortira la loi, et de Jérusalem la parole du Seigneur.
He shall judge between many peoples and impose terms on strong and distant nations; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; One nation shall not raise the sword against another, nor shall they train for war again.3 Il jugera des peuples nombreux, et Il châtira jusqu'au loin des nations puissantes; ils changeront leurs épées en socs de charrue, et leurs lances en hoyaux; une nation ne tirera plus l'épée contre une autre nation, et ils ne s'apprendront plus à combattre.
Every man shall sit under his own vine or under his own fig tree, undisturbed; for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.4 Chacun se reposera sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, et il n'y aura personne pour les effrayer, car la bouche du Seigneur des armées a parlé.
For all the peoples walk each in the name of its god, But we will walk in the name of the LORD, our God, forever and ever.5 Car tous les peuples marche(ro)nt chacun au nom de son dieu ; mais nous, nous marcherons au nom du Seigneur notre Dieu, jusque dans l'éternité et au-delà.
On that day, says the LORD, I will gather the lame, And I will assemble the outcasts, and those whom I have afflicted.6 En ce jour-là, dit le Seigneur, je rassemblerai celle qui boitait, et je réunirai celle que j'avais rejetée et affligée.
I will make of the lame a remnant, and of those driven far off a strong nation; And the LORD shall be king over them on Mount Zion, from now on forever.7 De celle qui boitait je ferai un reste, et de celle qui souffrait, un peuple puissant ; et le Seigneur régnera sur eux sur la montagne de Sion, depuis ce temps jusque dans l'éternité ('à jamais).
And you, O Magdal-eder, hillock of daughter Zion! Unto you shall it come: the former dominion shall be restored, the kingdom of daughter Jerusalem.8 Et toi, tour du troupeau, ténébreuse fille de Sion, il viendra jusqu'à toi ; (oui) à toi viendra la puissance première (souveraine), l'empire de la fille de Jérusalem.
Now why do you cry out so? Are you without a king? Or has your counselor perished, That you are seized with pains like a woman in travail?9 Maintenant pourquoi es-tu en proie à la tristesse ? Est-ce que tu n'as pas un roi, ou ton conseiller a-t-il péri, pour que tu sois saisie par la douleur, comme une femme qui enfante ?
Writhe in pain, grow faint, O daughter Zion, like a woman in travail; For now shall you go forth from the city and dwell in the fields; To Babylon shall you go, there shall you be rescued. There shall the LORD redeem you from the hand of your enemies.10 Afflige-toi et tourmente-toi, fille de Sion, comme une femme qui enfante, car tu sortiras maintenant de la ville, tu habiteras dans les champs (une région étrangère), et tu viendras jusqu'à Babylone : là tu seras délivrée, là le Seigneur te rachètera de la main de tes ennemis.
How many nations are gathered against you! They say, "Let her be profaned, let our eyes see Zion's downfall!"11 Et maintenant des nations nombreuses sont rassemblées contre toi, et elles disent : Qu'elle soit lapidée, et que nos yeux contemplent Sion !
But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, nor understand his counsel, When he has gathered them like sheaves on the threshing floor.12 Mais ils n'ont pas connu les pensées du Seigneur ; ils n'ont pas compris son dessein, car il les a rassemblés comme la paille dans l'aire.
Arise and thresh, O daughter Zion; your horn I will make iron And your hoofs bronze, that you may crush many peoples; You shall devote their spoils to the LORD, and their riches to the Lord of the whole earth.13 Lève-toi et foule la paille (aux pieds tes ennemis), fille de Sion ; car je te donnerai (poserai) une corne de fer, je te donnerai (poserai) des ongles d'airain, et tu briseras des peuples nombreux, tu consacreras leurs rapines au Seigneur, et leur force au Dieu de toute la terre.
Now fence yourself in, Bat-gader! "They have laid siege against us!" With the rod they strike on the cheek the ruler of Israel.
