NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 The LORD spoke to Moses, and said,	1 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Dize a Aarão o seguinte:
2 "Give Aaron this command: When you set up the seven lamps, have them throw their light toward the front of the lampstand."	2 quando colocares as lâmpadas dispô-las-ás sobre o candelabro de modo que as sete lâmpadas projetem sua luz para a frente do mesmo candelabro."
3 Aaron did so, setting up the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.	3 Aarão assim fez, e colocou as lâmpadas na parte dianteira do candelabro, como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés.
4 The lampstand was made of beaten gold in both its shaft and its branches, according to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses.	4 O candelabro era feito de ouro batido: seu pé, suas flores, tudo era de ouro batido; e foi feito segundo o modelo que o Senhor tinha mostrado a Moisés.
5 The LORD said to Moses:	5 O Senhor disse a Moisés o seguinte:
6 "Take the Levites from among the Israelites and purify them.	6 "Toma os levitas do meio dos israelitas e purifica-os.
7 This is what you shall do to them to purify them. Sprinkle them with the water of remission; then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.	7 Eis como farás para purificá-los: asperge-os com a água da expiação e eles passem uma navalha sobre todo o corpo, lavem as suas vestes e purifiquem-se a si mesmos.
8 They shall take a young bull, along with its cereal offering of fine flour mixed with oil; you shall take another young bull for a sin offering.	8 Tomem então um touro com a sua oblação de flor de farinha amassada com óleo; e tomarás tu um segundo touro em sacrifício pelo pecado.
9 Then have the Levites come forward in front of the meeting tent, where you shall assemble also the whole community of the Israelites.	9 Farás aproximarem-se os levitas diante da tenda de reunião, e convocarás toda a assembléia dos israelitas.
10 While the Levites are present before the LORD, the Israelites shall lay their hands upon them.	10 Mandarás os levitas que se aproximem diante do Senhor, e os israelitas porão suas mãos sobre eles.
11 Let Aaron then offer the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the Israelites, thus devoting them to the service of the LORD.	11 Aarão oferecerá os levitas ao Senhor, como oferta agitada, em nome dos israelitas, a fim de que eles sejam destinados ao serviço do Senhor.
12 The Levites in turn shall lay their hands on the heads of the bullocks, which shall then be immolated, the one as a sin offering and the other as a holocaust to the LORD, in atonement for the Levites.	12 Os levitas porão suas mãos sobre as cabeças dos touros, dos quais oferecerá um em sacrifício pelo pecado, e o outro em holocausto ao Senhor para fazer a expiação em favor dos levitas.
13 Thus, then, shall you have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons, to be offered as a wave offering to the LORD;	13 Mandarás que os levitas se conservem de pé diante de Aarão e seus filhos, e os apresentarás em oferta agitada ao Senhor.
14 and thus shall you set aside the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, that they may be mine.	14 Separarás desse modo os levitas do meio dos israelitas, e eles serão meus.
15 "Only then shall the Levites enter upon their service in the meeting tent. You shall purify them and offer them as a wave offering;	15 Depois disso, virão para a tenda de reunião para me servirem. Assim os purificarás e os apresentarás em oferta agitada.
16 because they, among the Israelites, are strictly dedicated to me; I have taken them for myself in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites.	16 Porque eles me são inteiramente reservados entre os israelitas; eu os tomei para mim em lugar de todo primogênito, daqueles que nascem primeiro entre os filhos de Israel.
17 Indeed, all the first-born among the Israelites, both of man and of beast, belong to me; I consecrated them to myself on the day I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt.	17 Porque todo primogênito entre os israelitas, homem ou animal, é meu, eu os consagrei a mim no dia em que feri os primogênitos no Egito.
18 But in place of all the first-born Israelites I have taken the Levites;	18 Eu tomei os levitas em lugar de todos os primogênitos dos israelitas,
19 and I have given these dedicated Israelites to Aaron and his sons to discharge the duties of the Israelites in the meeting tent and to make atonement for them, so that no plague may strike among the Israelites should they come near the sanctuary."	19 e, tirados do meio do povo, dei-os inteiramente a Aarão e seus filhos para fazerem o serviço dos israelitas na tenda de reunião, e para fazerem a expiação em favor dos israelitas, de sorte que estes últimos não sejam feridos por nenhuma praga quando se aproximarem do santuário."
20 Thus, then, did Moses and Aaron and the whole community of the Israelites deal with the Levites, carrying out exactly the command which the LORD had given Moses concerning them.	20 Moisés, Aarão e toda a assembléia dos israelitas fizeram, pois, acerca dos levitas, tudo o que o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés a seu respeito. Assim fizeram os filhos de Israel:
21 When the Levites had cleansed themselves of sin and washed their clothes, Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD, and made atonement for them to purify them.	21 purificaram-se e lavaram suas vestes. Aarão apresentou-os em oferta agitada diante do Senhor, e fez a expiação por eles a fim de purificá-los.
22 Only then did they enter upon their service in the meeting tent under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. The command which the LORD had given Moses concerning the Levites was carried out.	22 E vieram em seguida os levitas para a tenda de reunião para fazer o seu serviço, em presença de Aarão e seus filhos. Como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés acerca dos levitas, assim se fez.
23 The LORD said to Moses:	23 O Senhor disse a Moisés o seguinte:
24 "This is the rule for the Levites. Each from his twenty-fifth year onward shall perform the required service in the meeting tent.	24 "Esta é a lei relativa aos levitas: desde os vinte e cinco anos para cima, o levita será admitido ao serviço na tenda de reunião.
25 When he is fifty years old, he shall retire from the required service and work no longer.	25 A partir dos cinqüenta anos, renunciará às suas funções e cessará de servir.
26 His service with his fellow Levites shall consist in sharing their responsibilities in the meeting tent, but he shall not do the work. This, then, is how you are to regulate the duties of the Levites."	26 Ajudará seus irmãos na tenda de reunião, zelando pelo que lhe foi confiado; mas não exercerá mais as suas funções. Desse modo disporás os levitas nos seus encargos.
