1 The LORD spoke to Moses, and said,	1 - Il Signore parlò a Mosè, e gli disse:
2 "Give Aaron this command: When you set up the seven lamps, have them throw their light toward the front of the lampstand."	2 «Parla ad Aronne e digli: - Quando metterai a posto le sette lampade, il candelabro stia sul lato meridionale [del tabernacolo]. - Comanda dunque che le lampade guardino a settentrione, di contro alla mensa de' pani della proposizione, perchè debbon mandare la luce verso quella parte che è di faccia al candelabro».
3 Aaron did so, setting up the lamps to face toward the front of the lampstand, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.	3 Così fece Aronne, e mise le lampade sul candelabro, come il Signore aveva comandato a Mosè.
4 The lampstand was made of beaten gold in both its shaft and its branches, according to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses.	4 Ora il candelabro era fatto così: era d'oro battuto, tanto il fusto centrale quanto i rami che nascevano dalle due parti. Mosè l'aveva fatto lavorare secondo il modello datogli dal Signore.
5 The LORD said to Moses:	5 Ed il Signore parlò a Mosè, e gli disse:
6 "Take the Levites from among the Israelites and purify them.	6 «Prendi i leviti di mezzo a' figliuoli d'Israele, e purificali
7 This is what you shall do to them to purify them. Sprinkle them with the water of remission; then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, and so purify themselves.	7 con questo rito: Siano aspersi con l'acqua dell'espiazione, e si radano tutti i peli del corpo. E dopo essersi lavate le vesti, ed essersi purificati,
8 They shall take a young bull, along with its cereal offering of fine flour mixed with oil; you shall take another young bull for a sin offering.	8 prenderanno un bove di mandra, con la sua offerta di fior di farina intrisa d'olio. Tu poi prenderai per il peccato un altro bove della mandra,
9 Then have the Levites come forward in front of the meeting tent, where you shall assemble also the whole community of the Israelites.	9 e radunata tutta l'assemblea de' figli d'Israele, farai venire i leviti davanti al tabernacolo dell'alleanza.
10 While the Levites are present before the LORD, the Israelites shall lay their hands upon them.	10 Quando i leviti saranno dinanzi al Signore, i figli d'Israele stenderanno su loro le mani,
11 Let Aaron then offer the Levites before the LORD as a wave offering from the Israelites, thus devoting them to the service of the LORD.	11 ed Aronne offrirà nel cospetto del Signore i leviti presi tra' figli d'Israele acciò gli servano nel suo ministero.
12 The Levites in turn shall lay their hands on the heads of the bullocks, which shall then be immolated, the one as a sin offering and the other as a holocaust to the LORD, in atonement for the Levites.	12 Di poi i leviti porranno le mani sul capo de' due bovi, de' quali uno ne sacrificherai per il peccato e l'altro in olocausto al Signore, supplicando pei leviti.
13 Thus, then, shall you have the Levites stand before Aaron and his sons, to be offered as a wave offering to the LORD;	13 Questi, li metterai al cospetto di Aronne e de' suoi figli, ed offertili al Signore li consacrerai
14 and thus shall you set aside the Levites from the rest of the Israelites, that they may be mine.	14 e separerai di tra i figli d'Israele, acciò siano miei;
15 "Only then shall the Levites enter upon their service in the meeting tent. You shall purify them and offer them as a wave offering;	15 dopo ciò, entreranno nel tabernacolo dell'alleanza, al mio servizio. Così dunque li purificherai e li consacrerai come offerta al Signore perchè mi son stati dati in dono da' figli d'Israele.
16 because they, among the Israelites, are strictly dedicated to me; I have taken them for myself in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites.	16 Io li ho presi in cambio de' primogeniti che aprono il seno materno in Israele.
17 Indeed, all the first-born among the Israelites, both of man and of beast, belong to me; I consecrated them to myself on the day I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt.	17 Perchè miei sono tutt'i primogeniti de' figli d'Israele, tanto degli uomini quanto degli animali. Dal giorno nel quale percossi in Egitto tutt'i primogeniti, io me li riserbai;
18 But in place of all the first-born Israelites I have taken the Levites;	18 ho presi i leviti in luogo di tutt'i primogeniti de' figli d'Israele,
19 and I have given these dedicated Israelites to Aaron and his sons to discharge the duties of the Israelites in the meeting tent and to make atonement for them, so that no plague may strike among the Israelites should they come near the sanctuary."	19 e di fra il popolo li ho dati in dono ad Aronne ed a' figli suoi, acciò servano a me nel tabernacolo dell'alleanza a nome di Israele, ed intercedano per il popolo, perchè non venga piaga su di esso, [come avverrebbe] qualora osasse accostarsi al santuario».
20 Thus, then, did Moses and Aaron and the whole community of the Israelites deal with the Levites, carrying out exactly the command which the LORD had given Moses concerning them.	20 Mosè dunque ed Aronne, e tutta l'assemblea dei figli d'Israele, fecero coi leviti quello che il Signore aveva comandato a Mosè.
21 When the Levites had cleansed themselves of sin and washed their clothes, Aaron offered them as a wave offering before the LORD, and made atonement for them to purify them.	21 Si purificarono, si lavarono le vesti, ed Aronne li elevò dinanzi al Signore, e pregò per loro,
22 Only then did they enter upon their service in the meeting tent under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. The command which the LORD had given Moses concerning the Levites was carried out.	22 acciò purificati andassero ai propri uffici nel tabernacolo dell'alleanza con Aronne e i suoi figli. Come il Signore aveva dato ordine a Mosè pei leviti, così fu fatto.
23 The LORD said to Moses:	23 Il Signore parlò a Mosè, e disse:
24 "This is the rule for the Levites. Each from his twenty-fifth year onward shall perform the required service in the meeting tent.	24 «Quest'è la regola pei leviti: Da venticinque anni in su andranno al servizio del tabernacolo dell'alleanza.
25 When he is fifty years old, he shall retire from the required service and work no longer.	25 Quando avranno compiuto cinquant'anni, cesseranno dal servizio;
26 His service with his fellow Levites shall consist in sharing their responsibilities in the meeting tent, but he shall not do the work. This, then, is how you are to regulate the duties of the Levites."	26 aiuteranno i loro fratelli nel tabernacolo dell'alleanza, ed avranno cura di quello che a loro verrà affidato, ma non faranno lavori propriamente detti. Così disporrai dei leviti nei loro incarichi».
