Jonah 2

1 But the LORD sent a large fish, that swallowed Jonah; and he remained in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.	1 Der Herr aber schickte einen großen Fisch, der Jona verschlang. Jona war drei Tage und drei Nächte im Bauch des Fisches
2 From the belly of the fish Jonah said this prayer to the LORD, his God:	2 und er betete im Bauch des Fisches zum Herrn, seinem Gott:
3 Out of my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me; From the midst of the nether world I cried for help, and you heard my voice.	3 In meiner Not rief ich zum Herrn und er erhörte mich. Aus der Tiefe der Unterwelt schrie ich um Hilfe und du hörtest mein Rufen.
4 For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the sea, and the flood enveloped me; All your breakers and your billows passed over me.	4 Du hast mich in die Tiefe geworfen, in das Herz der Meere; mich umschlossen die Fluten, all deine Wellen und Wogen schlugen über mir zusammen.
5 Then I said, "I am banished from your sight! yet would I again look upon your holy temple."	5 Ich dachte: Ich bin aus deiner Nähe verstoßen. Wie kann ich deinen heiligen Tempel wieder erblicken?
6 The waters swirled about me, threatening my life; the abyss enveloped me; seaweed clung about my head.	6 Das Wasser reichte mir bis an die Kehle, die Urflut umschloss mich; Schilfgras umschlang meinen Kopf.
7 Down I went to the roots of the mountains; the bars of the nether world were closing behind me forever, But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD, my God.	7 Bis zu den Wurzeln der Berge, tief in die Erde kam ich hinab; ihre Riegel schlossen mich ein für immer. Doch du holtest mich lebendig aus dem Grab herauf, Herr, mein Gott.
8 When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; My prayer reached you in your holy temple.	8 Als mir der Atem schwand, dachte ich an den Herrn und mein Gebet drang zu dir, zu deinem heiligen Tempel.
9 Those who worship vain idols forsake their source of mercy.	9 Wer nichtige Götzen verehrt, der handelt treulos.
10 But I, with resounding praise, will sacrifice to you; What I have vowed I will pay: deliverance is from the LORD.	10 Ich aber will dir opfern und laut dein Lob verkünden. Was ich gelobt habe, will ich erfüllen. Vom Herrn kommt die Rettung.
11 Then the LORD commanded the fish to spew Jonah upon the shore.	11 Da befahl der Herr dem Fisch, Jona ans Land zu speien.
