Hosea 11

1 When Israel was a child I loved him, out of Egypt I called my son.	1 - Come passa l'alba, passò via il re d'Israele. Quando era fanciullo Israele io l'amai, e dall'Egitto ho chiamato il figlio mio.
2 The more I called them, the farther they went from me, Sacrificing to the Baals and burning incense to idols.	2 Sì, li hanno chiamati, ma essi ugualmente se ne andarono via dal loro cospetto, immolavano ai Baalim e sacrificavano ai simulacri.
3 Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, who took them in my arms;	3 Ed io ho fatto da balia ad Efraim; ho portato essi in braccio, ma non compresero la cura ch'io aveva di loro.
4 I drew them with human cords, with bands of love; I fostered them like one who raises an infant to his cheeks; Yet, though I stooped to feed my child, they did not know that I was their healer.	4 Li ho attirati a me con attrattive piene d'umanità e con vincoli d'amore e sono stato come uno che solleva il giogo dalle loro mascelle, e mi chinai su di essi a porger loro da mangiare.
5 He shall return to the land of Egypt, and Assyria shall be his king;	5 E non torneranno in Egitto; Assur, sarà esso il loro re, perchè hanno rifiutato di convertirsi.
6 The sword shall begin with his cities and end by consuming his solitudes. Because they refused to repent, their own counsels shall devour them.	6 La spada sarà brandita contro le sue città, consumerà le sue sbarre e le divorerà, a cagione dei loro divisamenti.
7 His people are in suspense about returning to him; and God, though in unison they cry out to him, shall not raise them up.	7 Gli uomini del mio popolo staranno in sospeso pel mio ritorno, mentre verranno posti sotto uno stesso giogo che non sarà a loro tolto.
8 How could I give you up, O Ephraim, or deliver you up, O Israel? How could I treat you as Admah, or make you like Zeboiim? My heart is overwhelmed, my pity is stirred.	8 Come ti tratterò, Efraim? Ti proteggerò, Israele, o come ti tratterò? Come Adama? ti ridurrò come Seboim? Il mio cuore mi si rivolta dentro, tutto è commosso il mio rincrescimento.
9 I will not give vent to my blazing anger, I will not destroy Ephraim again; For I am God and not man, the Holy One present among you; I will not let the flames consume you.	9 No, io non manderò a esecuzione il furore della mia ira, non mi risolverò a distruggere Efraim, perchè io sono Dio e non uomo; io ci sono in mezzo a te santo e non marcerò contro le città.
10 They shall follow the LORD, who roars like a lion; When he roars, his sons shall come frightened from the west,	10 Cammineranno anzi dietro al Signore che ruggirà come un leone, poichè egli ruggirà e tremeranno i figli del mare.
11 Out of Egypt they shall come trembling, like sparrows, from the land of Assyria, like doves; And I will resettle them in their homes, says the LORD.	11 E voleranno, come uccello, dall'Egitto, e come colomba, dalle terre d'Assur e li ristabilirò nella loro dimora, dice il Signore.
	12 Efraim mi ha raggirato col rinnegarmi e la casa d'Israele coll'ingannarmi, ma Giuda discese testimonio con Dio, e con i santi fedele.
