Ezekiel 14

1 When certain elders of Israel came and sat down before me,	1 E vennero a me uomini delli antichi d' Israel, e sederono inanzi a me.
2 the word of the LORD came to me:	2 E disse Iddio a me:
3 Son of man, these men have the memory of their idols fresh in their hearts, and they keep the occasion of their sin before them. Why should I allow myself to be consulted by them?	3 O figliuolo d'uomo, questi hanno posto le loro immondizie nelli loro cuori, e ordinarono e puosono lo scandalo della loro iniquitade contro alla faccia loro or s' io sarò domandato, risponderò a loro?
4 Therefore speak with them, and say to them: Thus says the Lord GOD: If anyone of the house of Israel, holding the memory of his idols in his heart and keeping the occasion of his sin before him, has recourse to a prophet, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person because of his many idols.	4 E perciò parla, e dirai a loro: questo dice lo Signore Iddio: l' uomo l'uomo (cioè ciascuno uomo) della casa d' Israel, che averà posto la immondizia nel suo cuore, e lo scandalo della sua iniquitade contro alla faccia sua, e verrà al profeta domandando per lui a me, io Signore risponderò a lui nella moltitudine delle sue brutture,
5 Thus would I bring back to their senses the house of Israel, who have become estranged from me through all their idols.	5 acciò che la casa d' Israel sia presa nel suo cuore, col quale si partio da me con tutti i suoi idoli.
6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Return and be converted from your idols; turn yourselves away from all your abominations.	6 Però di' alla casa d' Israel: questo dice lo Signore Iddio: convertitevi, e partitevi dalli vostri idoli; e da tutte le contaminazioni vostre rivolgete le vostre facce.
7 For if anyone of the house of Israel or any alien resident in Israel is estranged from me, and holds the memory of his idols in his heart and keeps the occasion of his sin before him, yet asks a prophet to consult me for him, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person.	7 Però che ciascuno uomo della casa d' Israel, e de' proseliti qualunque sarà forestiere in Israel, se sarà rimosso da me, e averà posto li suoi idoli nel suo cuore, [e lo scandalo della sua iniquitade] contro alla faccia sua, e sarà venuto al profeta domandando per lui a me; io Signore risponderò a lui per me.
8 I will turn against that man, and make of him an example and a byword. I will cut him off from the midst of my people. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD.	8 E porrò la mia faccia sopra quello uomo, e farollo in esemplo e in proverbio, e dispergerò lui del mezzo del popolo mio; e saprete ch' io sono lo Signore.
9 As for the prophet, if he is beguiled into speaking a word, I, the LORD, shall have beguiled that prophet; I will stretch out my hand against him and root him out of my people Israel.	9 E lo profeta quando averà errato, e averà parlato la parola; io Signore ingannerò quello profeta, e distenderò la mia mano sopra lui, e ispegnerollo del mezzo del popolo mio Israel.
10 Each shall receive punishment for his sin, the inquirer and the prophet shall be punished alike,	10 E porterà la sua iniquitade; secondo la iniquità di colui che addimanderà, così sarà la iniquità del profeta,
11 so that the house of Israel may no longer stray from me and may no longer be defiled by all their sins. Thus they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord GOD.	11 acciò che la casa d' Israel non erri più da me, e non si corrompa in tutte le sue prevaricazioni, ma sia mio popolo, e io sia loro Iddio; così disse lo Signore delli esèrciti.
12 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	12 E disse Iddio a me:
13 Son of man, when a land sins against me by breaking faith, I stretch out my hand against it and break its staff of bread, I let famine loose upon it and cut off from it both man and beast;	13 Figliuolo d' uomo, quando la terra averà peccato a me, acciò che lo prevaricante prevarichi, io distenderò la mia mano sopra lei, e romperò la verga del suo pane, e metterò in lei fame, e ucciderò di lei l' uomo e lo giumento.
14 and even if these three men were in it, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they could save only themselves by their virtue, says the Lord GOD.	14 E se saranno questi tre uomini nel mezzo di lei, cioè Noè, Daniel e Iob, loro nella loro giustizia liberaranno le anime loro, dice lo Signore delli esèrciti.
15 If I were to cause wild beasts to prowl the land, depopulating it so that it became a waste, traversed by none because of the wild beasts,	15 E se io menerò bestie pessime sopra la terra acciò che la guastino, e sarà nella via, per che non è chi vi passi per paura delle bestie;
16 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear they could save neither sons nor daughters; they alone would be saved, and the land would be a waste.	16 e questi tre uomini (vi passino, e) siano in quella via; io vivo, dice Iddio, però che loro non liberaranno nè i figliuoli nè le figliuole, ma loro soli saranno liberati, e la terra sarà desolata.
17 Or if I brought the sword upon this country, commanding the sword to pass through the land cutting off from it man and beast,	17 O vero se vi manderò lo coltello sopra quella terra, e dirò allo coltello: passa per quella, e ucciderò nella terra uomini e giumenti;
18 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would be unable to save either sons or daughters; they alone would be saved.	18 e questi tre uomini siano nel mezzo di lei; io vivo, dice Iddio, ch' elli non liberaranno nè figliuoli nè figliuole, ma loro soli saranno liberati.
19 Or if I were to send pestilence into this land, pouring out upon it my bloodthirsty fury, cutting off from it man and beast,	19 E s'io vi metterò pestilenza sopra di quella terra, e spargerò la mia indignazione sopra quella con sangue, per torre di lei uomini e giumenti;
20 even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear that they could save neither son nor daughter; they would save only themselves by their virtue.	20 e sì vi sarà dentro Daniello, Noè, Iob; io vivo, dice Iddio, che non liberaranno nè figliuoli nè figliuole; ma loro liberaranno nella sua giustizia le anime loro.
21 Thus says the Lord GOD: Even though I send Jerusalem my four cruel punishments, the sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast,	21 Però [che] questo dice lo Signore Iddio: però ch' io metterò (in Ierusalem) questi quattro pessimi giudicii, cioè coltello e fame (e fiere) e male bestie e pestilenza in Ierusalem, acciò che uccidano in Ierusalem uomo e bestia;
22 still some survivors shall be left in it who will bring out sons and daughters; when they come out to you, you shall see their conduct and their actions and be consoled regarding the evil I have brought on Jerusalem (all that I have brought upon it).	22 ma pure vi si lascerà salvamento di quelli che nutricano li figliuoli e le figliuole; ecco che loro usciranno fuori a voi, e vedrete le loro vie e i loro trovamenti; e consoleretevi sopra lo male ch' io mandai sopra Ierusalem, in tutti quelli ch' io portai sopra quella.
23 They shall console you when you see their conduct and actions, for you shall then know that it was not without reason that I did to it what I did, says the Lord GOD.	23 E consolerannosi sopra voi, quando averete veduto la via loro e i loro trovamenti, (cioè che aveano fatto tanto male e tante noie, che non saranno mai veduti nè uditi, e però non increscerà);
