NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the temple. At the entrance of the gate I saw twenty-five men, among whom were Jaazaniah, son of Azzur, and Pelatiah, son of Benaiah, princes of the people.1 Et elevavit me spiritus et duxit me ad portam domus Domini orientalem,quae respicit solis ortum; et ecce in introitu portae viginti quinque viri, etvidi in medio eorum Iezoniam filium Azur et Pheltiam filium Banaiae, principespopuli.
The LORD said to me: Son of man, these are the men who are planning evil and giving wicked counsel in this city.2 Dixitque ad me: “ Fili hominis, hi sunt viri, qui cogitantiniquitatem et tractant consilium pessimum in urbe ista
"Shall we not," they say, "be building houses soon? The city is the kettle, and we are the meat."3 dicentes: “Nonnedudum aedificatae sunt domus? Haec est lebes, nos autem carnes”.
Therefore prophesy against them, son of man, prophesy!4 Idcircovaticinare de eis; vaticinare, fili hominis ”.
Then the spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and he told me to say: Thus says the LORD: This is the way you talk, house of Israel, and what you are plotting I well know.5 Et irruit in me spiritusDomini et dixit ad me: “ Loquere. Haec dicit Dominus: Sic locuti estis, domusIsrael, et cogitationes cordis vestri ego novi.
You have slain many in this city and have filled its streets with your slain.6 Plurimos occidistis in urbehac et implestis vias eius interfectis.
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Your slain whom you have placed within it, they are the meat, and the city is the kettle; but you I will take out of it.7 Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus:Interfecti vestri, quos posuistis in medio eius, hi sunt carnes, et haec estlebes, et educam vos de medio eius.
You fear the sword, but the sword I will bring upon you, says the Lord GOD.8 Gladium metuitis, et gladium inducam supervos, ait Dominus Deus.
I will bring you out of the city, and hand you over to foreigners, and inflict punishments upon you.9 Et eiciam vos de medio eius daboque vos in manu hostiumet faciam in vobis iudicia.
By the sword you shall fall; at the boundaries of Israel I will judge you; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.10 Gladio cadetis, in finibus Israel iudicabo vos,et scietis quia ego Dominus.
The city shall not be a kettle for you, nor shall you be the meat within it. At the boundaries of Israel I will judge you,11 Haec non erit vobis in lebetem, et vos noneritis in medio eius in carnes: in finibus Israel iudicabo vos;
and you shall know that I am the LORD, by whose statutes you have not lived, and whose ordinances you have not kept; rather, you have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you.12 et scietisquia ego Dominus, qui in praeceptis meis non ambulastis et iudicia mea nonfecistis, sed iuxta iudicia gentium, quae in circuitu vestro sunt, estis operati”.
While I was prophesying, Pelatiah, the son of Benaiah, died. I fell prone and cried out in a loud voice: "Alas, Lord GOD! will you utterly wipe out what remains of Israel?"13 Et factum est cum prophetarem, Pheltias filius Banaiae mortuus est; et cecidiin faciem meam, clamans voce magna, et dixi: “ Heu, Domine Deus,consummationem tu facis reliquiarum Israel! ”.
Thus the word of the LORD came to me:14 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me dicens:
Son of man, it is about your kinsmen, your fellow exiles, and the whole house of Israel that the inhabitants of Jerusalem say, "They are far away from the LORD; to us the land of Israel has been given as our possession."15 “ Fili hominis, fratres tui,fratres tui, viri propinqui tui et omnis domus Israel, universi, quibus dixerunthabitatores Ierusalem: “Longe sunt a Domino; nobis data est terra inpossessionem”.
Therefore say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Though I have removed them far among the nations and scattered them over foreign countries--and was for a while their only sanctuary in the countries to which they had gone--16 Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus: Quia longe feci eos ingentibus et quia dispersi eos in terris, ero eis in sanctificationem modicam interris, ad quas venerunt.
I will gather you from the nations and assemble you from the countries over which you have been scattered, and I will restore to you the land of Israel.17 Propterea loquere: Haec dicit Dominus Deus:Congregabo vos de populis et adunabo de terris, in quibus dispersi estis,daboque vobis humum Israel.
They shall return to it and remove from it all its detestable abominations.18 Et ingredientur illuc et auferent omnesoffensiones cunctasque abominationes eius de illa.
I will give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove the stony heart from their bodies, and replace it with a natural heart,19 Et dabo eis cor aliud etspiritum novum tribuam in visceribus eorum; et auferam cor lapideum de carneeorum et dabo eis cor carneum,
so that they will live according to my statutes, and observe and carry out my ordinances; thus they shall be my people and I will be their God.20 ut in praeceptis meis ambulent et iudicia meacustodiant faciantque ea et sint mihi in populum, et ego sim eis in Deum.
But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their detestable abominations, I will bring down their conduct upon their heads, says the Lord GOD.21 Quorum cor post offendicula et abominationes suas ambulat, horum viam in capitesuo ponam ”, dicit Dominus Deus.
Then the cherubim lifted their wings, and the wheels went along with them, while up above them was the glory of the God of Israel.22 Et elevaverunt cherubim alas suas, et rotae cum eis, et gloria Dei Israelerat super eos;
And the glory of the LORD rose from the city and took a stand on the mountain which is to the east of the city.23 et ascendit gloria Domini de medio civitatis stetitque supermontem, qui est ad orientem urbis.
Et spiritus levavit me adduxitque in Chaldaeam ad transmigrationem in visionein spiritu Dei; et sublata est a me visio, quam videram.
Et locutus sum adtransmigrationem omnia verba Domini, quae ostenderat mihi.
